Mr Brad Griffith Term 4, Week 10 December 8th, 2015 COMING UP: Wednesday December 9th Year 6 Farewell Dinner 6pm New Hall Thursday December 10th Kindergarten Gross Motor Excursion Tuesday December 15th Kinder Pirate Day Wednesday December 16th Last Day of School for students The term is quickly progressing as we come to the time of the year where we celebrate the achievements, big or small, of our students. It’s also a time when students are thinking about their personal achievements and what it will be like transitioning into the following year group. I would like to congratulate every student on their year at Macksville and hope they have had a great year. 2015 Presentation Day I was absolutely delighted to attend my very first 2015 Presentation Day at Macksville Public School last Thursday, and was amazed at the achievements and talents of our students. Congratulations to the students who received awards. It was a day for recognizing the wonderful achievements of our students across the school, and also be entertained by the various performances of the singing group, school band, drummers and of course Kindergarten performing Old MacDonald. There was enormous support from our families and friends and the organizing committee presented a quality event to showcase the efforts of all our students. Well done, everyone! Leaders for 2016 Year 5 overcame some very personal fears and challenges, making their leadership speeches for 2016 to the rest of the school. They all performed well, presenting their speeches with dignity, humour and confidence. All the staff were very impressed with the quality of the candidates and the standard of the speeches. Our 2016 School Leaders were announced on Presentation Day last Friday. Congratulations to: School Captains Arrin Stirrat-Black and Henry Stranlund, Vice Captains Breeana Jarrett and Connor Lockyer, and prefects Abigail Hazelwood, Jordan Blockey, Chantel Cameron, Cooper Nunn, Celeste Cameron, Joshua Callaway, Kymberlee Blair and Brandon Willer. Year 6 Farewell and Assembly It’s a special time of the year for Year 6 students as they begin to celebrate their achievements at Macksville Public School. It is also a sad time, saying farewell to our 2015 Year 6. The Year 6 Farewell will be held tomorrow evening, Wednesday 9th December in the new hall, beginning at 6pm and finishing at 9.30pm. The dress theme is smart casual and ‘a splash of colour’. Dinner will be at 6:00pm, followed by a Disco. Parents are asked to join their Year 6 children at 9:00pm so families may share in the Year 6 slideshow which is always a delight for everyone. Thank you to the parents who are assisting on the night. Please ensure your child is picked up on time, as students are not allowed to walk home. This Friday 11th December the students will receive their Graduation certificates. This will also involve the traditional ringing of the Macksville PS bell, ringing out the end to their primary years. We wish them every success in their new journey to high school and beyond, growing up into wonderful, independent and responsible learners. Kindergarten Graduation This event is another highlight of the year. Kindergarten will hold their Kinder Graduation next Tuesday, 15th December at 2:15 pm and will celebrate the event with a fun Pirate Day and sausage sizzle. The children will also receive their Graduation certificates. More details in Mrs Grenenger’s report. Circus Troupe

As mentioned The Circus Troupe did a brilliant job performing at the Nambucca River recently. Their next performance will be at the Valla Christmas Carols this Friday evening. Please come and support them if you can.

Classes for 2016 Our school planning for 2016 is currently underway. Knowing who is likely to be at school next year is invaluable to us in planning for classes, classroom space, teachers and other programs. In order for our planning to be as accurate as possible, would you please advise the Office as soon as possible if your child will be leaving us in 2015.

Have a great week! ~ Brad Griffith, Principal

Kindergarten Excursion Kindergarten have been participating in a very successful Gross Motor Program throughout 2015 and as a finale they will be enjoy a Gross Motor Excursion to the Junior Super Sports Star Gymnastics Centre at Toormina on Thursday, 10th December. The bus will leave school at 10:15am sharp and return to school at 2.45pm. Please ensure your child brings a large bottle of water and a substantial recess and lunch as they will be doing lots of exercise. They will also need to wear school uniform with shorts (no skirts or dresses) and appropriate footwear for the day. Arrangements have been made for the bus to return to school in time for early collection. The cost is $21.00. Please pay the office if you have not already sent this in.

Kindergarten Pirate & Graduation Day On Tuesday, 15th December, Kindergarten children will celebrate their 2015 Graduation. A great day of fun will see our lovely Kindergarten children dress up as pirates and participate in some fabulous pirate day activities. Children are asked to pack a regular fruit break, recess and cold water for the day. Parents are invited to join the celebrations for a sausage sizzle at 12.30 on the bottom oval.
