OUR MISSION To consolidate and strive to further improve the infrastructure of the Club and to deliver experiences that nurture relationships and contribute to a wholesome lifestyle thereby providing an enriching experience to the Members.

To provide excellent Sporting, F&B and Entertainment facilities and increase Member satisfaction. To maintain a transparent and democratic decision-making process.

YEAR IN RETROSPECTION AND LOOKING AHEAD During the year under review, the Club continued to maintain its tradition of conducting/organising several sports tournaments participated by a large number of keen sportspersons, some of them World/National Champions. Several Inter-Club, as well as, Intra-Club level tournaments were organised in a number of sports disciplines, which witnessed enthusiastic participation by a large number of our members and their children. Details of these tournaments have been indicated under the respective sports head.

Well-patronised Food Festivals and scintillating Entertainment programmes throughout the year deserve a special mention as these were made possible by imaginative planning and execution by the concerned Committees, whose members toiled very hard, with active support of the staff, to make each event a better one. Rush for registration even at the last minute for witnessing the events was a pointer to the popularity of the events.

Getting a unique opportunity to host three IPL matches at the CCI in May this year was a feather in the cap for the CCI, as the Club had been striving strenuously to bring back the big matches to our stadium for the past several decades. IPL in the year 2010 had come to us as default due to ongoing renovation at Wankhede at that point of time. We are indeed fortunate to get this privilege in the midst of very tough competition amongst contending venues. Well done our Cricket Sub-Committee which worked tirelessly, determinedly supported by our staff, to ensure flawless conduct of the matches, so thoroughly enjoyed by our members and their children. It is a matter of great pride for all of us that CCI’s Cricket ground was adjudged as one of the best ground in the country.

We hope to get the opportunity to host international matches more often.

One of the heart-warming and proud moment of the Club came in the form of appointment of our Vice President, Mr. Kapill Malhotra, as a Member of IPL Governing Council. A rare achievement for the club. We thank the BCCI for their gracious gesture.

Infrastructure Upgradation and Associated IssuesMembers would recall that the status of our ageing infrastructure has been a matter of serious attention for the Executive Committee for the last few years. The members would easily recognise the renovation and improvements that have been brought about in the Club infrastructure in the recent years as our collective efforts have started yielding tangible results. Apart from complete renovation/modernisation of Idar Family Room, Gujrati Kitchen, Billiards Room, Gents Health Club and Old Cake shop earlier, the club has successfully transformed the Chinese Kitchen, as well as Chinaman Restaurant during the current year. In addition, Ladies Health Club has been given the much needed face-lift, pending execution of the project for creating a brand new Health Club. A noteworthy achievement is the facilities-rich new age Table-Tennis Room built on the first floor/North Stand. We hope, the new Table-Tennis Room will provide an enjoyable experience to the members and help accelerate the popularity of the game at a faster pace. Our ageing buildings and stadium are in the urgent need of structural repairs and renovation. After completing the task in the Stadium House building earlier, external repairs (including structural) of the walls and the terrace (including water-proofing) the Clubhouse were undertaken and successfully completed this year. The refurbished and freshly painted Clubhouse walls, decorated with pleasing vertical gardens either side of the Reception have enhanced the overall aesthetics of the façade. Around the periphery of the Cricket ground, openable MS grating has been provided to cover the open rain water drain to prevent wastage/rubbish flowing into the drain.

Stadium Roof has been part-repaired by way of complete replacement of vertical sheets and curved bent AC sheets to prevent any accidental fall. However, the roof itself needs to be attended to, along with support structures. This is being planned to be taken up shortly.

Two lifts in the Stadium house have been replaced with the new ones. One lift in the Administrative Office side has been refurbished and renovated.

Parking area between Badminton Court and Family Room entrance, as well as, road leading to Gate No. 9 have been completely resurfaced and strengthened.

Many more infrastructure improvement related works have already commenced. Briefly, work has already begun for a new Library behind the Badminton Court and New Card Room and Board Room on the first floor of the Club House. After running a marathon race for getting multitude of NOC’s and clearances/ approvals for the Swimming pool, we are now in the process of crossing the last hurdle of the Tree Authority. We expect this to be obtained shortly, after which the work could begin. Health Club upgradation work is also ready for launching soon after shifting of the Library.

It would be appreciated that each of these major works requires a host of pre-commencement approvals and clearances from a number of statutory authorities. The Executive Committee would like to assure the members that the Committee is confident of bringing in overall improvements as indicated above, in the shortest possible timeframe, without any major disruption to the members.

The Executive Committee is alive to the emerging changes in the membership profile as evident from a large number of young members joining the Club under Members Children Plan. The rich spectrum of their educational and professional background makes it obligatory on our part to qualitatively improve the Club facilities and infrastructure that would measure up to their expectations. We would like to assure our members that the Executive Committee is endeavouring in all seriousness, to achieve that.

Investment Strategy and ManagementThe Income from Investments increased to Rs. 38.61 Crores for the current year ended 31 March 2015 from Rs. 27.67 Crores for the previous year. The Investment corpus for the current year increased to Rs. 503.04 Crores vis-à-vis Rs. 457.10 Crores from the previous year.

It may be noted that post 10th July 2014 the taxation treatment for Debt funds including Fixed Maturity Plans has changed as a result of the Union Budget 2014. The minimum holding period has been increased to 36 months as against earlier 12 months, to be eligible for long term Capital Gains tax. This has necessitated significant changes in the investment dynamics. The Club prudently rolled over the investments in its Fixed Maturity Plans, wherever feasible, after a very careful review of the underlying portfolio. Major focus of the Investment Committee while managing the funds has been the safety of the corpus. This is evident from the increased allocation of sovereign tax free bonds to Rs. 203 Crores as on 31 March 2015 from Rs. 96 Crores in the Financial Year 2013-14.

The composition of the investment corpus comprises of Tax-free Bonds, Fixed Maturity Plans, Debt Funds and Fixed Deposits, which are free from lien of any kind. The Investments of the Club are rigorously and regularly monitored with the foremost objective of safety of the corpus and at the same time achieving optimum returns on the same.

Our hallowed Club is home to some of the greatest names in the game of Cricket as well as other sports, and its clubhouse and entrance Lobby are one of the main areas which leave a lasting impression upon Members & Guests alike. The immediate task of the Committee at hand was for beautifying the Clubhouse, which was started by primarily replacing the CCI signage, with new stainless steel signage, at the Main Gate entrance to the J N Tata Pavillion.

This year again, CCI has won the Best Garden / Greenery award from BMC, and to set the bar higher for the future, in a measure that adds more, this Committee has arranged and installed Vertical garden with diffused lighting which has certainly enhanced the external look of the Club House.

Roofing in the East Lawn that houses the Compost was in a dilapidated condition and was completely replaced, which protected the Compost from the natural elements of heat and rain, besides lending a protected zone for the football play-area.

The hallowed turf of the CCI, besides used for playing cricket, is also a source of various activities and exercises for the Members during the better part of the year, and additional Morah chairs were procured by the Committee to enable Members in greater numbers to sit on the lawns, lending a vibrancy of varied colours and hues to the green turf.

The Club House is the pride of the Club and the wood-work in the Main Club House Lobby was crying out to be polished and restored to its pristine glory. This Committee felt this was a high-priority aspect that needed attention. The Main Entrance door of the Cooch Behar Room, the Porbander All-Rounder Dining Room, as well as the wooden clad columns and doors as well as tables and chairs have all been re-polished so beautifully, restoring the feel of the J N Tata Club House Main Lobby to the charm it so richly deserves. The Committee envisages getting all other areas of Club House polished in the coming year.

The Ranji Trophy is the Premier Domestic Cricket Tournament in India, and the replica of the Ranji Trophy in the centre of the main Lobby of the Clubhouse was restored. Besides, the various other glorious trophies kept in Cooch Behar Room, which were neglected, have also been restored by the Committee which has taken the initiative of getting them cleaned on a regular monthly basis with the help of the Administration of the Club.

The upholstery of all the sofas as well as individual sofa chairs in the Club house Lobby as well as in the area outside the Card Playing room was changed to vibrant colours and designs matching the feel of the Clubhouse, and the cushions on the chairs in the Kakori Kabab area and Swimming Pool area were also replaced.

The Clubhouse Entrance & Lobby has been adorned with live plants which lend a magnificent life to the area and, the LED lights in the plants further enhance the grandeur.

This Committee has made the demarcation of Parking slots in the Club Parking area more prominent by fixed Parking studs with Reflecting/LED Strips which has immensely helped the Members while parking their cars, especially during the night time.

Climate change is a real and present danger and in a bid to Go Green at the CCI, this Committee in an attempt at reducing the power consumption, has also started replacing old light fittings with LED fittings.

The toilet facility for the CCI staff and employees in various departments such as F&B or Sports areas behind the Coffee Shop has been completely refurbished and renovated.

This House Committee has brought in remarkable changes in sports areas such as in the Badminton Gents Changing Room, Swimming Pool Changing Room (both Ladies and Gents) and in this coming year, has plans to bring in lot of changes other areas too, such as the Ladies Changing Room in the Main Clubhouse, Verandah area outside All Rounder, Verandah area outside Ground Floor Card Room, etc.

General upkeep and Maintenance of all areas of the Club has been greatly improved and high foot-fall areas such as the Verandah outside the All-Rounder Dining Room, and others, is continuously painted to keep the place looking clean. There are many more plans which this Committee will implement in the coming year to further improve and beautify various areas of the club, which is one of the most prestigious Clubs of the city.

PROJECT IMPLEMENTATIONDuring the year under review, thirteen meetings of the Committee were held.

The members would appreciate that a large number of facilities upgradation and infrastructure related projects involving complete renovation/addition and alteration, major structural repairs, large terrace area water proofing, external wall repairs/painting, renovation of rooms etc. are currently underway and many more in the pipeline. These projects are essential to strengthen our ageing assets with a view to prolong their effective utilisation over the years in a safe environment.

As these projects involve considerable outlay and require multiple NOCs / Clearances from the Govt. authorities, a need was felt to create a separate Nodal Committee that would act as an Apex body to co-ordinate common activities relating to planning and execution of various projects under the guidance / supervision of committees with domain expertise (like Health Club, Library, Swimming Pool, Cricket, Table Tennis, F&B, House etc.). Limited resources of the Project Dept. of the Club in undertaking the task of providing technical support to various user Committees and actual monitoring of the works in progress, were to be utilised optimally, with a view to strike a right balance amongst the competing demands of various projects/Committees and allocate resources in accordance with the priorities set out by the Executive Committee.

It was this concept that gave birth to the formation of Project Implementation Committee (PIC) in November 2014, with a flexible charter of responsibilities and empowered to steer multiple projects simultaneously in an optimal manner and also explore possibilities of unlocking FSI, overseeing Project Department, their liaising with various agencies and compile land records related to the Club property. Until then, House Committee was looking after most of these tasks in a loosely defined framework.

This approach has smoothened the process of concurrent planning and execution of multiple projects without major hiccups, with centralised monitoring mechanism. Composition of the Committee includes all the four Office Bearers and ensures representation of all interest groups.

The PIC has planned, piloted and monitored execution of several projects / works so far, which have already been briefly enumerated under the head “Infrastructure Upgradation” above. However, list of the

major works completed, assisted by the Project Implementation Committee and under active monitoring by its own and other various Committees, is appended below for quick recapitulation:

- IPL 2014 upgrading and maintaining facilities as mandated by the authorities

- Overseeing completion of water proofing the terrace, re-plastering of external walls and painting of the Club House, C K Naydu Hall and Terrace

- Planning and finalizing the Card room, Board room plans under guidance of the Executive Committee

Documents from the Authorities

- Renovation of Chinese Kitchen

- Renovation of Chinaman Restaurant

- Renovation of Ladies Health Club

- Replacement of two lifts (Block – I & II of Stadium House)

- Replacement of vertical facia and curved eaves AC sheets with Galvalum sheets of the Stadium roof

The projects already under execution/just a whisker away from the work commencement are as follows:

- Renovation of Coffee Shop Kitchen involving Civil & Plumbing Works, Air Exhaust System, Electrical Works, Drainage Work, Gas Suppression System, Gas Pipeline, installation of new Kitchen Equipment etc.

- Expansion of the Existing Swimming Pool and landscaping

- Setting up Health Club facilities under West Stand

- Renovation of Ladies Dressing Room near Reception (clubhouse

- Setting up facilities for harnessing Solar energy

In addition, there are a host of other renovation/upgradation of several other parts of the Club under different stages of planning. All such projects would be taken up in a phased manner as per the priorities accorded by the Executive Committee, keeping in view our own constraints in effectively monitoring concurrent project execution.

Apart from the infrastructure upgradation, the PIC has focussed on finding missing links in our old land records and painstaking following up with the Government authorities to fill the gaps, at times by resorting to RTI route. We are pleased to report that the Club has been very successful in obtaining past-approved plans and documents, on the basis of which measures have been initiated to correct the anomalies in our land records, hitherto un-noticed.

The PIC has also taken up strongly with the Municipal Corporation, inaccuracies in depicting the Club in the Draft Development Plan. We registered our objections, made presentation and suggested remedial measures. The revised Development Plan would hopefully remedy the situation.

Notes to Financial Statements for the year ended March 31, 2015Note 1: Corporate InformationThe Cricket Club of India Ltd (“CCI” or the “Company”) is a private club incorporated in 1933 with an object to promote cricket and other sports in the country. The CCI is incorporated as Company Limited by Guarantee under the provision of Companies Act 1956. The company does not have share capital. Note 2: Significant Accounting Policies:2.1 Basis of Preparation of Financial Statements These financial statements are prepared in accordance with Indian Generally Accepted Accounting

2.2 Use of Estimates The preparation of the financial statements in conformity with GAAP requires the management

to make estimates and assumptions that affect the reported balances of assets and liabilities and disclosures relating to contingent assets and liabilities as at the date of the financial statements and reported amounts of income and expenses during the period. Examples of such estimates include provisions for doubtful debts, future obligations under employee retirement benefit plans, income taxes and the useful lives of fixed assets. The difference between the actual result and estimate are recognized in the period in which results are known or materialized.

2.3 Fixed Assets, Depreciation and Capital Work-in-Progressa) All Fixed Assets are stated at cost of acquisition or construction less accumulated depreciation.

Cost comprises cost of acquisition and any attributable cost of bringing the asset to the condition for its intended use.

of the management, such a decline is other than temporary. Current investments are carried at the lower of cost and fair value.
