SAP Advanced Planning and Optimization (SAP APO) SAP APO 7.0.

    Summary

The paper is a case study on the combination of Subcontracting Without Source Location in PP/DS with subcontracting components (materials provided to the subcontractor) with MRP-based Detailed Scheduling. It describes a demo business process where the following master data are not created in the SAP APO system:

Transportation lane for the ordered product

Production process model (PPM) or the Production Data Structure (PDS) in the destination location

    INTRODUCTION

Recently I was approached from a partner with the following question:

We have a project with MRP-based Detailed Scheduling and Subcontracting Without Source Location in PP/DS with subcontracting components (materials provided to the subcontractor). Do we need the Transportation lane for the ordered product and the Production process model (PPM) or the Production Data Structure (PDS) in the destination location or are these data obsolete because the Material Requirements Planning is run in SAP ERP? So I took the opportunity to test the business process in our Online Reference System (ORS) for SAP Advanced Production Scheduling Rapid-Deployment-Solution. MASTER DATA IN SAP ERP

The SAP Best Practices scenario MRP-Based Scheduling (S80) reuses master data of existing SAP Best Practices scenarios that have an MRP run in SAP ERP. You can find a detailed description of the master data in SAP BEST PRACTICES BASELINE PACKAGE - BUILDING BLOCKS Central Master Data (for Library - Manufacturing) (143) and Subcontracting (138). Bill of Material F126 We have a material finished good F126 in plant 1000 and a Bill of Material for that finished good with a component S23 that is procured from a subcontractor.

Subcontracting components (materials provided to the subcontractor) for Material S23 The component S23 has two subcontracting components R13 and R14 which are provided from plant 1000 to the subcontractor who assembles them to S23 and sends them back to plant 1000.

Purchasing Info Record Subcontracting A purchasing info record for subcontracting exists for material S23 and vendor 300007.

Material Master - Special Procurement Key 30 Subcontracting Material S23 has special procurement key 30 for subcontracting.

Integration to Advanced Planning and Optimization via Core Interface (CIF) The following master data is integrated to SAP APO: Plants

Plant 1000 Plant-Dependent Material Masters Material F126 S23 R13 R14 And several other materials contained in the BOM of material F126. Transactional data planned order, production orders and purchase requisitions and orders are also integrated via CIF.

    MASTER DATA IN SAP APO

Only the plant and the materials are integrated master data in SAP APO. For scheduling we of course also integrated the resources to produce F126. We did not model a resource for the subcontractor. The vendor 300007 is neither a vendor location nor a subcontractor location. It is not integrated!

There is also no transportation lane existing between plant 1000 and the subcontractor vendor

    Sales Order Entry

I created a sales order with the quantity of 5000 EA for the finished good material F126. Material Requirements Planning at Plant Level Single-item multi-level requirement planning is carried out for material F126 and plant 1000.

Evaluation of the Stock/Requirement List After the requirement planning has been carried out I display the stock/requirements situation for the Finished Good MTS (F126) in the stock/requirements list.

There is a customer order and a planned order with 5000 EA. I also check the list of material S23.

There is a dependent requirement and purchase requisition. We can also see the subcontracting requirements of the purchase requisition.

Product View in SAP APO Now I wanted to check the results of the MRP in ERP in SAP APO.

    Transaction code /n/SAPAPO/RRP3

The sales order and the planned order for material F126 are transferred to SAP APO.

In the pegging context for the sales order we can identify the purchase requisition and the corresponding planned order for subcontracting material S23 with the subcontracting requirements for components R13 and R14.

  • MRP-BASED DETAILED SCHEDULING AND SUBCONTRACTING

    11

The output of the purchase requisition is in the Make-To-Stock segment.

  • MRP-BASED DETAILED SCHEDULING AND SUBCONTRACTING

    12

The input of the purchase requisition as stock transport requisition from the subcontractor and the planned order are in the Subcontracting segment.

The subcontracting requirements for the components are in plant 1 location 1000. Execute Heuristic Rescheduling: Bottom Up The purpose of the service heuristic Rescheduling: Bottom Up is to provide a feasible material flow/pegging as a starting point for the scheduling heuristics and sequence optimization also based on the subcontracting requirements.

    13

I choose component check also for all other components.

After the rescheduling the pegging context is adjusted. Evaluation of the Stock/Requirement List after Rescheduling After rescheduling in SAP APO I wanted to check the new dates in SAP ERP integrated from SAP APO via CIF.

The subcontracting purchase requisition has an updated date. CONCLUSION

I demonstrated that the combination of Subcontracting Without Source Location in PP/DS with subcontracting components (materials provided to the subcontractor) with MRP-based Detailed Scheduling does not need the following master data in the SAP APO system:

Transportation lane for the ordered product

Production process model (PPM) or the Production Data Structure (PDS) in the destination location MRP-based Detailed Scheduling allows you to derive the benefits of detailed scheduling in SAP APO and continuing to use your existing subcontracting process in SAP ERP without requiring additional master data in SAP APO.
