scavenger hunt using note cards, jumping up and down while spelling them, magnetic letters, using them in sentences, rainbow writing, using chalk, find in magazine/book etc.

Math * This week we are going to learn about how to read time on a clock! Make sure you watched Mrs. Dyar’s morning message about telling time to the hour. Complete workbook page 117 and 118

Religion * Today we are going to talk about gifts that the holy spirit gives us. The holy spirit is God’s spirit that lives in each of us. One gift the holy spirit gives us in self-control. Self control means being in charge/the boss of your body and how you are feeling. We are going to do a self control experiment today! Self-Control Bubbles Activity

• Supplies: Bubbles

1. Grab a bottle of bubbles and head outside.

Page 3: Mrs. Dyar’s Distance Learning Monday, May 4, 2020 · 1-1:30 (whole class zoom) Morning Message Please go to ClassDojo and watch the morning message before starting the plans for

2. Let your kids know that you are going to blow bubbles. Tell them that the first time that you blow them they can pop as many as they want.

3. After a little while of letting them pop to their heart’s content, stop blowing bubbles and tell them that the rules have changed a bit for this next round of blowing bubbles. Let them know that this time you’re going to blow bubbles but they can’t pop any.

4. Talk about it: After you’re all finished talk about how when they really wanted to pop the bubbles, but they chose not to, that was choosing self-control. If they popped the bubbles the 2nd time around you can talk about how that wasn’t choosing self-control.

Morning Message

Please go to ClassDojo and watch the morning message before starting the plans for today.

Word Work * You will need a piece of paper and pencil. Today you will do a written sort. Instead of you sorting the words already typed out. You will sort them by writing the words. On a piece of paper, draw a T chart – m blends on one side and n blends on the other side (just like the one provided for you). Next, have your typed out chunk words stacked in a pile. Have a parent pick up the first word on top and read it to you. Which side of the T chart (you made) does it belong to – the m blends or n blends side? Write the blend word on the correct side. Repeat until you have completed the stack of words.
