Issue 8 We are now at the end of
January 2016. Where does
the time go I hear you ask.
I’m not sure but it certainly
flies by! It’s only a couple
of weeks until it’s half term.
The children have settled
back into school and every-
thing is running smoothly.
The older children have
taken part in a football
tournament at GL1.
Class Stream have visited
Gloucester Cathedral.
Class Estuary have visited
Bristol Museum.
We have had a travelling
theatre group into school
w h o p e r f o r m e d t h e

There are reports of these
events and more in this
Newsletter.
New Year
2016 Class Estuary Trip
to Bristol Museum
On the 25 January2016
class Estuary went on a
six hour long trip to
Bristol Museum. Once
we got there, we put
our bags down and
immediately walked up
the stairs to our
workshop. It was quite
disappointing as we had
already experienced the
same workshop when we
had out earlier Egyptian
topic in class River. After that we looked
around the museum. The
museum was fantastic
and interesting in places.
Some of our favourite
exhibits were the
mummys, the fossils and
diamonds and the
preserved animals. One
of us took a picture with
the flash on and a lady
screeched “NO FLASH!”.
Overall it was a great
experience.

GL1 5 a-side Y6
girls’ football
tournament 2016.
On the 20 January 2016 the year
6 girls played their first football
tournament. The players were;
El l ie McCoy, Jaime-May
Meadows, Jessica Drew, Chloe
Payne, Libbi Justice, Jazzy
Saunders and Aaliyah Robinson.
A big thank you to Jayne Payne
(Chloe Payne’s nan) and Valerie
Bainon (Libbi Justice’s nan) for
the helpful lifts.
On the first match we won 1-0 to
us because the opposite team
went in our goalies box and Ellie
McCoy took the penalty and
scored. Goalie Jaime-May saved
lots of goals and missed a few
but was great. On the 2nd and 3rd
match we lost 0-1 and the last
game we drew 0-0. Altogether
we came 3rd place.
Thank you to our coach Miss
Ingram.

Georgi and Maggi Fuller
have had their cake sale to
help raise money for our
partnership school in Kenya.
They made a fantastic
£30.50. The school council
has decided to sponsor a
child from Mania School to
carry on with their education
after leaving primary school.
Most children f inish
schooling at the end of
primary education. To help
with this sponsorship,
payments will be made from
the toast money.
Well done to Maggie and
Georgi for helping fundraise
for this worthwhile project.
Nia Rodway has donated her
pocket money and Naomi
Eggleton has donated her
tooth fairy money!
Thank you girls!

On Monday 25th January a
travelling pantomime
came to school and
performed the play, The
Hunch back of Notre
Dame. The group were
very friendly and had lots
of humour. They also gave
us high fives! Personally
I think they had perfect
song choice because it
always got everyone
singing along. They were
also very good with their
props and costumes. By
the end of the pantomime
the whole school had
massive smiles on their
faces
Jaime-May Meadows
thought, “Very funny
amazing love to see it
again!”
Chloe Payne said, “I really
loved it- loved the
humour!”
Cameron McDill said,
“REALLY HILARIOUS!!!!”
Thank you to the
travelling pantomime!!

The Hunchback
of Notre Dame
Forest school
On Friday 29th January, Year 6
went to in the woods of Huntley
with Mrs Hatton in Forest
schools. All of year 6 had a few
challenges, one of them was to
build a camp/den. Then we had
to work out a way to transport
food around the camp for us to
eat.
About one hour later, Mrs
Hatton gave them some nice
warm hot chocolate and after
that they walked back down to
the classroom for home time.
We had an amazing time and
Mrs Hatton said that we worked
really well as a team!

Help our Kenyan friend go to
school!
In Kenya, as you should
all know the primary
school we have linked
with, Maina primary
school. In Maina School
there is an incredibly
talented 14 year old who
has the chance of a
lifetime opportunity to
go to a boarding school.
Sadly, her parents can’t
afford it. This is where
we come in. we intend to
raise £1,200.00 from
toast money and other
things for her to go to
Kasima secondary school
for four years! One
of our governors has
kindly offered to make
a monthly donation
towards this endeavour.
Thank you!
Sainsbury’s
Vouchers
We are once again
collecting the Sainsbury’s
Active Kids Vouchers for
schools. Please remember
to ask for your vouchers at
the cash desk. Thank you
