Tests: You will be notified in advance when a test is to be expected. A review will be given out and answers

provided the day before the test. You should use your notes and class materials to study and complete your review. NOTHING NEW will be

on your review therefore you do not need the answers in advance. No Unit Assessment Aids (index cards, formula sheet, or notes) will be allowed, any specific formulas that

will be needed may be provided within the test. You may retake any one unit tests per quarter- No retakes on midterms and finals.

If you did not complete your review, you lose the privilege for retaking that test.

Absent for Test or Review Day… If you miss a test due to an absence you will make up the test the following day in class.

If you miss the review day, you will still take the test on test day. The answer key to the review will be posted on the class website at the end of the day.

Correction Policy: You may turn in corrections, on graded (for accuracy) assignments only, as many times as you want!!

It is a very realistic goal to earn full points for your overall homework grade for these assignments! Corrections will not be taken for assignments checked in for completion. Corrections must be accurately completed for any test retake Corrections DO NOT need to be completed for quiz retakes.

How to do Your Corrections: Corrections are to be turned into the Corrections Bin Corrections must be legible to receive credit.

1. Corrections can be done one of two ways: a. Legibly on a separate sheet of lined paper that is stapled to the original assignment b. Legibly on the assignment/test itself in red (or a different color) ink

2. Redo each problem you got incorrect. All correct work must be shown. Giving only the final answer will not earn you any points back or the ability to retake your test. If no work is needed, write 1-2 sentence explanation of why your answer is correct and your previous answer was incorrect. (i.e. Angle 1 and Angle 2 are complementary not supplementary like I chose on the test because the two angles add up to 90°, not 180°)

How To Retake Tests: 1. Make Test Corrections! (See “How to do Your Corrections”) 2. These are due at least 1 day before you take your retake. You may need to redo your corrections before

you can retake your test, allow for that time … sometimes you will need to reschedule your retake! To avoid this, you can schedule a time to come in and do your corrections or go over your corrections to help you study!

3. Once we feel you are ready for your retake, you will sign up for an hour appointment to take the test. If you miss the appointment you forfeit your retake privileges.

4. No retakes will be given during lunch or class time.

How I know my grade? If a student or parent would like to know a student’s progress in class, they are to check parent portal. This is highly recommended. Please do not expect it to be updated immediately.

Weighted Scale

Assignments: 10% Quizzes: 30% Unit Assessments: 60%

Semester Grades Quarter 1: 40% Quarter 2: 40%

Exam: 20% *If a student earns two out of the three components to their semester grades,

the student will earn credit in the class.*

Topics Covered Throughout the Year

1. Introduction to Geometry (Prerequisites/Basic Constructions/Transformations)

2. Angle Relationships

3. Proof

4. Polygons

5. Triangles

6. Congruent Triangles

7. Similarity

8. Right Triangles

9. Trigonometry

10. Circles

11. Area

12. Surface Area and Volume

The standards listed above can be split into topics or units. The topics/units listed below may be combined with

one another or have the order changed depending on student prior knowledge, timing of school year (i.e.

breaks, etc.). I strongly suggest that you organize your binder by making a tab for each unit, where each tab is

one of the topics listed below. Most of your assignments will be hole punched for you so you can keep all notes,

assignments, quizzes, and tests in your binder and organized by unit. It is extremely helpful to stay organized

throughout the school year – especially if you are looking to retake a quiz or test, or studying for a semester

exam! You will be asked to take out previous notes, assignments, quizzes, and/or tests throughout the year,

make sure you have them in your binder! Don’t throw them away!
