Behavior System: Clip Chart

: Clip up for outstanding behavior.

: Everyone begins here to start the day.

: First warning. Think about your actions.

Conversation with the teacher.

: Time for reflection. Complete reflection form.

Silent lunch.

: Student contacts parent explaining behavior.

: Immediate referral to the office for fighting,

profanity, weapons, or other “zero tolerance” behavior.

Students should uphold Buena Vista’s expectation: Be

respectful, responsible, and ready to learn. Students should

also follow our Code of Cooperation.

I communicate with students using the CCBIPR technique.

Mistakes DO happen. My goal is for students to learn from

their mistakes.

I strive for a classroom based on mutual respect.

Mailbox, private conversation

Voice levels

I try to point out the reasons for routines and

procedures…they are not just “orders.”

Attendance & Transportation

When a student is absent, please send in a note with

the student’s name, date, teacher ’s name, and

reason for absence.

When there is a change of afternoon transportation,

please send in a note with the student’s name, date,

teacher ’s name, and description of the

transportation change.

When there is inclement weather, walkers will be

dismissed as car riders. Students need to know their

car numbers.

Homework

Not graded…an extension of the classroom lesson

Agendas

Expected: Study nightly as part of homework.

Encouraged: Use First in Math and visit class website at least 2

nights per week.

3 Responsibilities

Silent, working lunch

Grading Policy

Minor grades: quizzes, worksheets, notebook checks

Major grades: tests and projects

Math, Reading, Science, & Social St.: 60% minor, 40% major

Language Arts: 60% minor, 30% major, 10% Spelling

There will be a minimum of:

7 minor grades in Reading, Math, Language Arts

5 minor grades in Science, Social Studies

8-9 Spelling grades

2 major grades in all subjects
