1. Introduction:
Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation
(MRVC), MMRDA & Doctors for You
(DFY) have been working in the M-east
ward of Mumbai for the past three years
for improvement in the socio economic
and health indicators of the PAP’s
resettlement colonies. The interventions
are being carried out through two health
centers in the area. The Health centre in
Natwar Parikh Area is functional since
2010 and in Lallubhai compound since
2013. The services are provided on daily
basis by the team of doctors,
paramedical staffs and outreach
workers. The services are provided at
the health centers on daily basis like
general OPD, dental OPD, Tuberculosis
treatment, Immunization, family planning
and maternal & child health services.
In the health centre at Lallubhai
compound specialized services
i.e.physiotherapy and disability
rehabilitation, Gynecology clinic, Eye
clinic and Skin disease, Psychiatric,
heart ailments treatment etc. are also
provided. The OPD services are backed
up by laboratory services and pharmacy.
With the opening of health centre,
quality health services are easily
accessible and affordable to residents of
these PAP’s resettlement colonies and
nearby slum areas. DFY have now been
providing health care services to more
than 3 lakh populations.
Apart from services at the health centre,
health services and awareness activities
are also organized in the area through
community meetings, rally, and street
plays etc. The main aim of the project is
to provide preventive and curative health
care services to all.

2. Highlights of the month
1. Comprehensive care for COVID-19:
Covid 19 Vaccination drive at multiple Health Posts in collaboration with
Government of Maharashtra
Rapid Antigen Test for Covid-19 in the Community and at centre
Referral and transportation of Covid-19 Positive patients to tertiary care
facility through Ambulance services.
2. Maternal and Child Health Care:
Antenatal care to Pregnant Women
Immunization services
Deworming against protozoal infection
Vitamin A Supplementation to prevent blindness and infections in
children.
Hygiene Kit Distribution
Anti tobacco Awareness
Sanitation of Health Centers

3. General OPD services at Lallubhai Centre:
With continuous support from MRVC, Doctors For You(DFY) strives to establish
lallubhai health centre as the Comprehensive health care centre with quality
services at affordable cost. Our General OPD services are utilizes by all age
groups where primitive and preventive measures like health education are
availed by the beneficiaries along with treatment of the communicable diseases
like Malaria, dengue etc..

4. Maternal and Child Health Services: MCH includes Mother and a child Health
care service which starts with Antenatal care of Mother reaches till immunization of
children. Gynecological Consultation with female Gynecologist at DFY centre runs
twice a week. It also includes family planning awareness and free distribution of
condoms and mala (contraceptives pills) also IUD placement by gynecologist at our
centre

6. Immunization Services: Immunizationservices are provided at both Centre and
on field at centre the Immunization activity is done twice a week on Monday and
Thursdaywhile immunization on field is done on daily basis. It also includes
supplementation of Vitamin A and Deworming to the children.

7 Physiotherapy Clinic Services: Physiotherapy services include both general
rehabilitation and disability rehabilitation which is provided on daily basis.
General Physiotherapy services include Joint-muscle pain, sports injury,
agronomical Advice and postural improvements while neurological rehabilitation
includes Stroke and Cerebral Palsy patients with developmental delay in
children’s.

9. Impact of Special OPD in our Community
As the urban slum redevelopmental areas does have general opds and doctors
available but for special OPDs there are no available services in nearby 5km. DFY on
other hand provides the community with Doctors to avoid delay in treatment with
consultation at bare minimum amount.

9.1 Case study
Name:Mr Prakash Palav
Gender: Male
Age: 56 years old
Address:Lallubhai Compound, Mankhurd, Mumbai-43
Problem:He had a complain of headache and nausea for last one month and was
taking Tab Crocin on his own but got no response to it.
When he visited our GOPD, we immediately checked
his vitals and BP was elevated.
Treatment: So Doctor started Angiotensin Receptor Blocker (ARB) which gave good response to Patient and now he is feeling better. Duration: On the 16th of June, 2021, a patient presented to the doctor with a complication of headache and nausea, for which he was treated. On the 21st of June, 2021, he returned for a general checkup, where he was improving and was prescribed the same medication.

10. Investigations Services: Blood test services are provided by DFY at
reasonable amount on daily basis. So the community has access to health centre
with other investigatory services, we also provide X-Ray and ECG services for the
community.

Activities at Tuberculosis OPD:
1. Home environment: Importance of environment such as space, ventilation,
over- crowding in the prevention of spread of TB.
2. Medicines: DOTS provider explains importance of adherence to treatment
and completing the complete course of AKT. They also emphasize the problem
associated with irregular treatment and defaulter.
3. Awareness among family members: The family members are educated
about mode of TB transmission, precaution to be taken to prevent spread of
disease and importance of timely intake of medicines and development of drug
resistance due to incomplete and inadequate treatment. Family members were
also advised to visit the health centre in case of symptoms such as Cough
(>2Weeks), Fever and decreased appetite.
