Favourite stroke: Butterfly Least favourite stroke: Breaststroke Favourite food: Pasta Favourite treat: Chocolate Welcome to the Mackay Swimming Academy (MSA)! Swimming is a fantastic sport to participate in as it offers so many benefits both in and out of the water. Our members enjoy fitness and friendship in a supportive environment. e club fosters a spirit of sportsmanship and competitiveness while developing swimming knowledge and skills which will enable them to perform to the best of their ability. Ask any parent who has a child swimming with MSA about the great things swimming does for their young swimmer and you will get a myriad of answers. Some will say it’s great fitness, others will say it’s because it helps them in their lives outside the water as well. Whatever the reason, swimming helps improve an individual in so many ways. Anything from posture and flexibility, right through to being able to focus more. ere is a great saying: “ey never said it would be easy, they said it would be worth it.” And this rings true for all of our swimmers who train hard to achieve their goals. ose who embrace hard work know that wins and losses come a dime a dozen. But effort, nobody can judge effort. Because effort is between you and you. Effort doesn’t have to do with anybody else but you. FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES Thanks to everyone who raised $$ in our recent pie drive. Every little bit helps the club and our swimmers achieve their goals. Everyone should now have their tickets for the State of Origin Jersey raffle. Hopefully we can make this a huge success and put the money raised towards some equipment beneficial to all our members. The Great Barrier Reef will be the next big fundraising effort and we will be looking to Mackay businesses to help donate towards this great annual swim event. More on that one soon!
