MSc Mindfulness Based Wellbeing (90 credits) MSc Personal and Management Coaching (90 credits) Entry Requirements Applicants should: *Normally hold a level eight honours degree or equivalent qualification within a relevant field such as health care, education, social care, family care or workplace development. *Applicants whose primary degree is not within these disciplines may still apply if they have at least five years of relevant professional experience within within a relevant field such as health care, education, social care, family care or workplace development. *All applicants must also: Have completed a teacher-led 8-week mindfulness course (Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy or Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) Have a regular meditation practice of mindfulness meditation, preferably as taught in MBSR and MBCT. *An interview forms an important element in assessing a candidate’s suitability for the programme, final decision on the inclusion of a candidate onto the programme will be determined by this process. Applicants should: *Hold an NFQ Level 8 honours degree or level 8 Higher Diploma, in which at least a second class honours was awarded *Or hold an appropriate professional qualification with at least two years’ significant experience in coaching or management with senior professional responsibility *All applicants with be required to attend for interview as part of the application process. What is the course about?Year one of this programme explores the foundations of mindfulness and examines the eastern philosophy of mindfulness and how it engages with western psychology. It explores the central themes incorporated in Mindfulness Based interventions and develops an appreciation for their inclusion. The attitudes of mindfulness are explored while the student is challenged to reflect on and contextualise the role of mindfulness practice in everyday settings and particularly in their own life and in their own personal mindfulness practice. Part one offers the student the opportunity to choose between receiving training on the teaching of mindfulness in school settings or in Organisational or workplace settings.

Year two of the programme explores the role of self-compassion in mindfulness while also exploring Acceptance and Commitment Training (ACT). It examines the role of mindfulness in the therapeutic setting and in the building and maintaining of productive relationships. Finally the student is trained to teach Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT / MBSR).

Who should apply?Please note that one of the core requirements in applying for this Masters in Mindfulness Based Wellbeing programme is to have completed an 8 week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Programme (MBSR) or an 8 week Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy Programme (MBCT). How will you benefit?The MSc in Mindfulness Based Wellbeing trains student to teach mindfulness in schools, the workplace and in everyday life. Mindfulness can assist with developing greater resilience, stress reduction and self-regulation while at the same time developing greater self-awareness and better engagement with people, teams, challenges and opportunities.

How is it delivered?Lectures are delivered part-time with evening classes and occasional weekend workshops over 2 years.

• Foundations of Mindfulness (10 Credits)

• Mindfulness Teaching and Personal Practice (15 Credits)

• Teaching Mindfulness in Schools (20 credits) or

• Teaching Mindfulness in the Workplace (20 credits)

• Mindfulness Based Interventions and Relationships (15 Credits)

• Research dissertation on the teaching of MBCT / MBSR (30 Credits)

What is the course about?Coaching is now recognised as a key component in increasing performance, achieving goals and optimising personal and group effectiveness. The MSc in Personal and Management Coaching will assist students to develop new skills to meet increasingly complex life and management challenges and to practice these coaching skills to the highest standards. The programme will equip graduates to implement coaching in diverse settings such as Business, Human Resource, Leadership Development, Training, Education, Management, Life Balance, Personal Coaching, Health Care, Social Care, Career Coaching, Sports Coaching, Performance Improvement and Change Management.

How will you benefit?Those with relevant work experience in a related field such as health, engineering, HR, training, manufacturing and construction with an interest in health and safety who wish to progress to or further develop a career in this area with a comprehensive postgraduate qualification.

How will you benefit?Graduates of the Masters programme may apply for Practitioner membership of the Association for Coaching. Training includes psychometric testing which leads to the industry standard, internationally recognised qualification in personality assessment which is awarded by the British Psychological Society and recognised by the European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations.
