POI 2012 Mississippi Symphony Orchestra’s PREMIER ORCHESTRAL INSTITUTE is a ten day orchestra program for string players from beginning to advanced levels. Students will go through all aspects of the orchestra experience (audition, sectionals, full rehearsals, and concert) under the leadership of professional musicians in a nurturing and exciting learning environment. The Festival will feature several performances by the Faculty and by outstanding guest artists both in classical and non-classical styles. POI closes with a GRAND FINALE concert featuring the Master Camerata group with guest soloists. COLLEGE STUDENTS POI will offer an opportunity for advanced college students to perform with POI faculty artists in residence in the Master Camerata concerts. The artists in residence will work with these students in a series of master classes. ENSEMBLES: MASTER CAMERATA - college PHILHARMONIC – advanced CAMERATA – Intermediate LITTLE MOZART I and II - beginners AUDITIONS In order to ensure a high quality experience for all involved, and also to place players within the ensembles, auditions are a requirement for participation at POI in the advanced and intermediate ensembles. Applicants must audition live on the 1st day of POI. Music selections for audition preparation will be mailed to students upon receipt of online application and deposit. TUITION Application fee: $50.00 (non-refundable) Camp tuition: $200.00 Total: $250.00 Applications can be completed online.
