    elcome to 2015! Another

year has come and gone, in

    seemingly speed-of-light

fashion. Out with the old, in with the

    new, as they say.

Last week, in our last issue of 2014,

we closed the door on the year with a

    Year in Review.

The end of a year is a chance for us

to reflect on all that has happened over

the last 12 months. It can be a sad time,

a happy time and a quizzical time all at

    once.

But the end also brings a new begin-

ning. With 2015 officially here, lets all

resolve to make our lives, to make the

lives of those around us, better. Lets be

a little more caring, a little more un-

    selfish, a little more polite.

Lets work harder and smarter, in-

    stead of longer.

Lets give a little more to those who

arent as fortunate as we are. Lets

learn from the mistakes of our past,

and make our future bigger and

    brighter.

Here at The Sun, we resolve to serve

the community even better than we

    have.

We resolve to be a better community

    business partner, be better reporters

and provide an even better product for

    our clients.

We resolve to improve the quality

and quantity of our content. We re-

solve to listen with open ears to your

    thoughts, ideas and concerns.

To that end, wed love to hear from

you on how were doing, and what you

think we could be doing better. Please

share your thoughts via e-mail to

    [email protected].

Help make our New Years resolu-

tions a reality by playing a part in

    your paper.

Heres to a wonderful year ahead!

    in our opinion

    HappyNew Year!Heres to a safe,happy, healthy and wonderful 2015

began painting in his spare time.I always had a little bit of art

talent, he said. I started paint-ing in the 80s. At that time, it wasmostly oils, still life, portraits, re-alistic kind of art.

Sometime in the 90s, Goldsteindecided to stop painting. He saidthe combination of a busy life atwork and home didnt allow timefor art.

However, a few years ago, Gold-stein retired and painting becamepart of his life again.

I dont have the pressures ofwork, and Ive taken some class-es, Goldstein said.

When Goldstein began to paintagain, he decided to make aswitch from oil painting toacrylic. He also decided to focuson abstract art after taking a few

classes. Most of it is abstract art,

Goldstein said. One of the cours-es stimulated my mind to move

into more abstract.Painting is not the only way

Goldstein taps into his creativeside. He is also a musician andplays in small shows around thecommunity.

In my teens, I learned to playthe clarinet, he said. I gave it upbecause of work. Now, Ive takenup the tenor saxophone, which isa similar instrument to the clar-inet. Most recently, within the lasttwo months, Ive learned the elec-

tric guitar.Goldstein recognizes there is aconnection between his love ofpainting and his love of music. He said a number of musiciansare also accomplished artists. Hefeels his talents in the two fieldscomplement each other.

My music stimulates my art-work, he said.

    Goldstein is a frequent visitor

to the library and thought itwould be great to display his art-work there. The library thought itwas a great idea as well.

I asked them about displayingsome of my work and they readi-ly accepted, he said.

Goldstein has participated in anumber of art shows in the past, but this will be the first time he isa featured artist.

This is my first one-manshow, he said. I have displayedmy art in many different venuesand shows, which included manydifferent artists.

Goldstein is hoping his show at

the library is only the start of big-ger things for his art career. One of my hopes is that one

day I can be in some gallery, hesaid.

All Goldsteins work displayedat the library is for sale. Those in-terested in purchasing the paint-ings or prints can contact Gold-stein at (856) 778-1163 or [email protected].
