My name is Lucy, a twenty-something freelance illustrator and greetings card designer for Mugmapie Greetings Cards, based in Liverpool, UK. I have a seriously British addiction to tea, I have never eaten yellow snow and I still love Britney Spears (please don’t judge me, i’ve been told it’s a sickness). More importantly, I am a greetings card fanatic.

A whistle-stop back story: I grew up in a small, rural town in North Yorkshire before studying Graphic Design at Leeds College of Art, Illustration at Kingston University and most recently, English Language at the University of Manchester. I previously worked as a Technical Writer and Proofreader before relocating to Liverpool to pursue my dream job as a greetings card designer and business owner. So far, I haven’t a single regret (and I more than love Liverpool - what a place!)

About my work: As an illustrator, I would describe the majority of my work as having a slightly comical edge. I enjoy incorporating typography into my designs, using cheeky phrases as the defining characteristic. I enjoy the reaction that these cards evoke: I love seeing people chuckle. Of course, not all of my designs follow this framework; I try to create cards that appeal to range of tastes, as you will (hopefully!) see in this catalogue.

Who is Mudmagpie?

All of my cards are printed onto 300 gsm, smooth, matte card and measure 150x150mm. Each item comes pre-packaged with a brown kraft envelope and protective acetate sleeve.

I currently sell my cards online through my website (mudmagpie.co.uk) and through Etsy, where they retail at £2.60.

I am open to discussion regarding wholesale prices, but if operating on the premise that the cards will be bought outright (i.e. not on a sale or return basis), I like to sell my cards at £1.20 per card, with further discounts depending on the volume of cards ordered.
