e always think of doing different things. However,

we are hesitant to take the necessary steps to accomplish those tasks. We demotivate ourselves by thinking ‘I cannot’ do that. Last year I did two things, which I believed ‘I cannot’.

The first thing was a dance performance. I never danced in my life. I always believed that I cannot dance. But the encouragement I received from my friends and family, made me dance. I learned the dance steps & diligently practiced for two weeks and then performed it in an event. It was a wonderful and thrilling experience!!!

The second was a sky ride at Global village, which also I believed ‘I cannot’.

For both cases, I changed my mind and redefine my belief ‘Yes I can’.

It’s similar even in Toast mastering too. We want to get rid of our stage fright and develop leadership skill, yet we believe ‘We cannot’.

The first step is to start thinking and make us believe ourselves ‘Yes we can’. This will give us confidence to take the next step i.e ‘Make an action plan’. Third step is to ‘implement the action plan’ with a clear focus and success is yours.

As a whole if it is difficult to achieve, so break it down. Proceed with a step by step approach. Review your progress in each stage. Correct your mistakes. Improve yourself and help improve others as well. Together we can become successful Toastmasters. Have a wonderful Toast mastering ahead.

an you jot down your signature with your right hand then try

doing the same sign with left hand.I am 101% sure both the signatures are not matching. Do you think it is possible to sign with your non dominant hand)?

Let me tell you friends it is possible, provided you PRACTICE. “Practice makes one perfect”. Nothing is impossible, the word IMPOSSIBLE itself says I’m Possible.

I was following up some interviews given by famous celebrities like SachinTendular, Roger Fedder, LataMangeskar, and Michael Jackson. The only common word I could figure out was “Practice” which gave them edge over competition. Daily Practice under right guidance was the secret of their success.

WHAT IS PRACTICE

Practice is defined as the constant use of one’s intellectual and aesthetic abilities. Perfection refers to

achieving excellence in what you do. Practice enables one to eliminate errors and reach a perfect result.

1st example is something we all have witnessed, believed and experienced. Toastmasters club. Why do we repeat our project? Why do we give speeches regularly? TMC is based on same simple principle “ More you practice, better speaker you will be” I am sure in a span of few months we all will be able to give an incredibly dazzling speech provided we take initiative in giving our projects regularly.

2nd example is a true incident something which was shocking at the same time an eye opener. This happened to my dear friend, who went for a complete check for him and his wife in a reputed hospital in Mumbai. Their reports were analyzed by a young gynec who told them that there is some major complication and his wife has to undergo a 6 months

medication and operation if she wants to conceive naturally. I asked my friend to take a 2nd opinion. He went to an experienced gynec to discuss the matter. After going through the report she asked not to panic, advised a daily walk of 30 minutes and a tablet. Few months later his wife conceived naturally. Both the gynecologists were qualified only difference was the years of experience. Young gynec had not come across such case whereas the experienced gynec had more than 15 years of practice which helped to give perfect feedback of the report.

To conclude the speech I would like to tell you friends, you can be rich by luck but perfect only by practice. Practice is required in all aspects of life probably that is why it is said practice begins in the cradle and ends in the grave.

rown and you frown alone, Smile and the whole world smile

with you.Smiling makes us beautiful; it is a gift to human beings. Why should we smile? We may have many answers, but one answer is very important. If we want friends, we should smile. Smiling has a power, it strengthen our friendship.

What happen when we smile? We get a smile back. So keep smiling, smiling gives us relaxation. Smiling fills up your heart with happy thoughts. You can’t think in a bad way with smile, as you know, face is the mirror of your mind. With a smile, you can wipe out all the sorrows. It has the power to change our life.

In my childhood days I read an article about Mahatma Gandhi, one day he was invited to inaugurate an old age home. In his speech he said “this should be the last old age home in this country”. I didn’t understand the meaning of

that, until I visited one of the old age homes in my native place. I spent whole day taking care of them, sharing my jokes and fulfilling their small wishes. I saw their faces were glowing like stars with a beautiful smile. When I came back home, I realize that what our parents and grandparents are expecting from us - is our presence and care, it brings smiles on their faces.

We all should learn the art of smiling, it lead us to happy, healthy and successful life. Let me share with you a small story I read about a medical doctor who was invited as a guest speaker to address a group of Alcoholics. He wanted to make a demonstration that would be powerful enough to make people realize that Alcohol is injuries to health; he had two containers, one with pure distilled water and one with pure alcohol. He put an earth warm into distilled water and it swam beautifully and came up to the top, he put another

earth warm into the alcohol and it disintegrated in front of everyone’s eyes. He wanted to prove that this was what alcohol did inside of our body. He asked the group, “What’s the moral of the story was?” One person jumped from behind and said, Sir, if we drink alcohol, you won’t have worms in your stomach. Is that the moral of story? As we all know Laughter is the best medicine and above all when we smile we look younger and more attractive.

Smiling is not just showing pleasure, it is a token of deep intimacy, it is meant for mutual understanding. My dear friends, Let us smile. It has a hidden power; it makes you young and energetic. We will be more active with smiling.

was born in a middle-class family at Mumbai among a happy lot of

people. I was brought up by my parents with utmost love and care, my childhood was like a bouquet with all kinds of flowers in it...be it studies or sports, family or friends...I was into everything. Those days passed away like a blink of eyes and I got into IIT, Kanpur to pursue a degree in Mechanical engineering...life changed...but there was more of everything there, more of studies, more of fun, many nights without sleep, with only studies, preparations and assignments. College life ended and I joined work with all the fond memories which I carried. I debated within myself on which days I cherished the most and before I could settle this, my family married me off to my childhood buddy- Paro. But she changed my life all over again...the hangover of the college days were happily lingering during my work life, but not anymore. Everyone around loved Paro

for the jolly person she was. I learnt from her, what love for partner was, and how to balance work and family lives efficiently, my life settled...I was a matured man, a caring husband and i owe her for all this. We were soon blessed with a lovely little daughter and her mom named her Meghna. She was daddy's gal all the way- she startled many when her first words here 'papa'! By her 8th birthday, people started saying she was like her dad- she was good at studies, loved sports, music and known to all for her camaraderie! My life was full... Let me also tell you about the third and biggest change in my life- the most uncalled for. On December 12th, 2007, while I was driving my way back from office I had a severe stroke and lost my senses. I later learnt I met a major accident as soon as I lost control of my car. While the stroke paralysed me completely, the accident permanently damaged my kidneys and blurred my

vision. Two years of intensive medical treatments abroad couldn't help me recuperate from either!

Ever since, I rely on dialysis for filtering my blood, i rely on others for every other activity. I lie on my bed helplessly till Paro puts me in a chair and I sit on the chair helplessly till she puts me back on my bed. I cannot speak more than a word or two...I depend on others for taking me to the loo; I’d helplessly hang in a specially made sling while I am being bathed. I cannot scratch if I itch, I cannot pick my nose if it is blocked and I can only eat if I am fed like a baby - only I won’t grow out of it, unlike the baby. My own miseries are not the end of the story. My parents,

they would sit with me all day. They see the pain in my eyes despite all these, they know how an agile man in his early 30s would feel being left motionless, but they are parents they do not falter- they try harder each day! My lovely wife, her daily chores include readying the kid for school, and then to and fro between office and home. Why the to and fro? Because she wouldn't let a nurse take her hubby to the loo or get him to bathe! I have deprived my lovely wife of her very social existence, ripped the lively person out of her! My little daughter Meghna- the tomboyish devil has suddenly fallen silent. She wouldn't go out to play for years now! She studies well and at other times silently pray to the Almighty so that her 'papa' gets well soon. When asked, she told her grand ma that she studies hard so that she can soon become a doctor and get her dad out of his illness. I beg for justice before you, my lord! I want relief from this unbearable agony. I want my parents, my wife, and my kid to have a normal life. My useless presence will never let that happen! I want my Paro to get back her jolly

self. I want my kid to have a childhood which she'd cherish for the rest of her life, just like her dad. I want to die a legal death. You call it euthanasia/mercy-killing, you call it illegal here. I ask you what justifies life when life itself is a burden to oneself and a pain to others around! I urge you to uphold the right to a dignified life assured by the Article 21 of our Constitution. No mother would seek her child's death, no wife her spouse's- but today if asked whether you should free me from the severe punishment of bearing all the pain every single moment that I live, I can tell you they will not be able to say a no! Sometimes mercy killing may only be an extension of deep love, motivated only by an unselfish desire for your loved one to be free of terminal pain and to go in dignity and peace. My lord, on 7 March 2011, the Supreme Court of India legalised passive euthanasia by means of the withdrawal of life support to patients in a permanent vegetative state. I ask you today, am I doing any better? Is it my sin that rather than being in a vegetative state, I’m in my senses to feel all the pain, to

witness the misery I have caused to all my loved ones?! Your honour, my mighty soul is entrapped in this defunct cage of my body...my soul seeks emancipation from the cage. When you punish a child rapist severely, you actually empathize with the victim with all your heart and soul...today you have to do the reverse. You have to embody a victim who is being cruelly punished by life, who is being physically and mentally tattered into pieces when he is awake! You punish the guilty in your verdict, today I beg for respite from a punishment...a punishment called "life"! I sit before you with my blurred vision, awaiting justice to be delivered. A decision that goes against me condemns me to a "life" of increasing misery. Let me Rest in Peace.

o you know what the secret of life is? Stick to it and everything

else will fall in place. As soon as we are born on earth a new canvas is generated. Every morning a blank canvas is in front of us to fill it with the color of our choice or the color bestowed to us by god, the almighty. Our life is a living, thriving and entertaining canvas.

Living is all about living under circumstances that you create for yourself. Life is a rainbow with 7 colors and their variations.

1st is violet. Violet stands for learning. Since the time we are born, the process of learning starts. Ironically when we are infants the intake capacity is more and gradually it slows down as we become adults. But we need to keep learning. There is a saying, “The illiterate of the future are not those that cannot read or write. They are those that cannot learn, unlearn and relearn.”

2nd is Indigo. Which say’s “don’t fear the failure”. We

don’t attempt to try new things as we are afraid of failure. But we should keep in mind that failure is the key to success. As someone said, “Nothing was easy, and sometimes I failed, and sometimes I thought that the fairy stories were right, that there must be easier ways of living happily ever after; but defeat is a poor ending to any tale, so I kept trying.”

3rd color is blue. Blue stands for socializing. Since ancient times, Oceans and seas which appear blue in color was used for transport of goods. With that people also exchanged their views and ideas. In recent times we use the wireless through the blue skies to socialize. Socializing sites Facebook is also blue in color.

4th color is green that stands for creating your own

luck.No matter how hard we work, luck is very important to be successful in life. You can design your own luck. You should be in the right place at the right time and also work smart along with hard work. You should use the right brushes, right colors and the right strokes and your canvas can be much better and you can add the green color to your life.

5th color is yellow, which stands for serious problems. Even if this is an unwanted color, we cannot choose not to have it in our canvas. As the saying goes: “If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome."

6th color is Orange which stands for Life go on. Whatever happens your life will go on. Today I might have cancer and it might not go away, but still I have a future because I am not dead yet and my life will go on.

I had an uncle, who was the only earning member of his

family. He had his wife and four kids. He fell sick and died and all of us thought, now how will the family anage without him. But to the surprise of all the two elder kids took tuitions and studied not only themselves but also supported the younger ones. Now all the four kids are well educated and they have also built a house for themselves. This

just goes to prove that nothing is indispensable in life.

7th color is Red, which stands for the choices. Whatever choices we make in our lives, it affects our future in some way or the other. As the saying goes: “Life is a sum of all your choices".Thus to summarize: Our life can have unique

color of our own or it can reflect the colors from the life of other people, but surely it is entirely our decision. Whatever we do will leave the color on the canvas of our lives. So choose the right color to make a beautiful portrait on your canvas, so that when we leave people will remember us with a fond memory.

I was born and brought up in Karachi and I am the only son of my parents and youngest in the family, so you can imagine how much I was looked after, I was good in studies but very much found of cricket. My father was a businessman who owned a small shoe manufacturing factory. As I was growing up, my level of interest in cricket was more than my studies.

When I was 14 I decided to be a professional Cricketer and dreamt about playing international cricket. I committed myself and started working hard towards my goal. As days passed my cricketing skills were getting recognition and I was gaining name and fame in cricketing arena. At the age of 18, I came to know that my father cannot take too much workload in his business because doctors diagnosed heart blockage in him.

Since I was the only son, I was pressurised by my relatives to take up my father’s business. But he just

gave a smile and said “Follow you dreams and achieve them”

In that same period of time, Pakistan Cricket Board announced their selection process from each city to represent Pakistan A team. I gave the trial and was waiting for result. Two days later, 20 players were selected from all over Pakistan and guess what I was selected in the squad including ShahidAfridi,Younis Khan, and other more those played for Pakistan team. Now I was

one step away to play international cricket and represent Pakistan team all I have to do is perform well in the matches.

But horrible nightmare came in my life when I failed to impress the selectors in term of not performing in all three matches. It was a big setback of my life.Again my parents encouraged and said, “For every failure there is success, so don’t worry.” I was not accepting the fact that I have really fail to performed.

One day my father asked me what my future plan was. I said “I don’t know.” Few days later I went to him said, “I want to go aboard, if I will remain be here I will not be able to forget my cricket career and won’t able to focus on other issues.”

I had flown to Dubai on visit visa for job at the age of 20, with my Graduation degree and cricket cuttings. I did not even get a single reply from where I have applied to. I was dejected and called my Mom to inform that I had no luck in past 32 days and my visa is going to expire in few days.

Two days I came to know that Emirates Airline was looking for cricketers and prepared to go for trials, with a hope to get a job. I impressed the selectors and one of the managers asked

me to come for an interview on a given date. Since I don’t have experience I was offered Grade 3 job in finance. In 2002 UAE cricket Board called me to represent national side. In 2004 I was selected to play Asia cup in Srilanka.

17th July 2004, was UAE VS India match. UAE won the toss and elected to field. I was playing with some of the legends of cricket and moreover the best part of match was, when I dived and took Sachin Tendulkar catch. I went crazy to enjoy that

moment. I was rewarded by UAE Sport’s Minister an award of $500. Early in morning next day I got call in hotel room Star news/ Zee news team is waiting for my interview it was so different feeling. So always follow your dreams and it will come true one day.
