Cognitivism Cognitive Learning Theory is an approach

to the study of learning that focuses on the thought processes that underlie learning.

It is sometimes called brain-based learning. Some major contributors were Jean Piaget,

Leslie Hart, David P. Ausubel, Jerome Bruner and Robert Gagné.

Cognitive Theory of Multimedia LearningOriginated by Richard E. Mayer

Based on 3 Assumptions:

Dual-Channel – for visual/pictorial and auditory/verbal processing

Limited Capacity – each channel has a limited capacity for processing

Active Processing – organizes selected information into coherent mental representations, integrated with prior knowledge.
