There have been lots of challenges to face and hurdles to overcome. Lionesses have faced all that has been thrown at them with great tenacity, dignity and determination. As a result we can now move forward and by working together continue our efforts in slowly building on our proud past to a better, brighter future. I should like to thank every Lioness for all their hard work and not letting the situation they found themselves in deter them from continuing the excellent service they give to their communities and the wider world. Long may we continue to serve, helping to make this world a much better place. Sadly we have to say goodbye to two of our clubs - Seahaven Lioness Club after 23 years and Sugarloaf Lioness Club after 30 years, these two clubs between them have given almost 55 years of excellent service to their communities and the wider world. I know both communities will, as will we all, be sad to see them go and will miss them greatly. I should like to thank all the members of both clubs for everything they have done, all their hard work and also the fun and fellowship we have shared with them in MD105. I wish them all, every happiness for the future and hope they will continue to remain friends and stay in touch with Lionesses over the coming years. As we begin the new Lionistic year we now have to turn our thoughts to the future and how we can now turn the negatives of this year into the positives, for new beginnings. I know it is going to be another very busy year but one I am looking forward to and I will do my very best to continue to meet, help, and support as many Lionesses as I can throughout the coming year and to work towards giving our organisation a stronger and more positive future. Since the last newsletter I have had the pleasure of attending three Lioness Clubs Anniversaries, congratulations to Swaffham on celebrating their 25th Anniversary. I have also attended the Bungay Lions Charter, where a good time was had by all, particularly one Lion who also happened to be celebrating his 60th Birthday! I spent a lovely day with Sleaford Lioness Club at their annual golf day, a great fundraiser which was very well organized, successful and lots of fun. Thank you to the Lionesses for your warm welcome and hospitality and congratulations on a very successful event. I have also been busy attending other meetings and my own club events. The new Lionistic year, as you can see from my diary dates, has started as did the previous year, and the calendar is already looking pretty busy for July and August. I am sure there will be much more to come as the year moves on. I wish you all a very happy and successful year and I look forward to meeting more Lionesses and attending more events during the year and working with everyone over the coming months. Floral Thanks for managing a difficult year successfully

I am a bit disappointed to find that we are halfway through the year and we only have sixLioness Clubs (one less than last year) competing for the Travelling Lioness Trophy. The requisite forms are available and can be completed on line if you so wish, or I alwayshave copies which I can send out to you to complete manually if you prefer. The hardestpart of the competition is remembering to take a form with you when you visit anotherLions or Lioness Club and remembering to get it signed whilst you are there. It is probably a bit too late for this year now, but please think about it for next year. However, it is not too late for the Scrapbook Competition and the Photo CaptionCompetition, both of which will be judged at the Multiple District Lioness Conference inFebruary 2017. The Scrapbook entries run from July 2015 to the end of June 2016 and I know from theMultiple District Newsletters that many clubs take lots of photographs both their own and other clubevents, plus of course newspaper cuttings. So come on fellow Lionesses, let us all share in the fun andgive the judges some work to do at Conference. If you need a copy of the rules for either the Travelling Lioness or the Scrapbook Competitions, please

contact me or the Multiple DistrictSecretary Jeannette as they are readilyavailable. The points so far this year for theTravelling Lioness Competition are shownhere:

Tony Briault Becomes an Honorary LionessOn the 18th June at the EA Lioness District Meetinghosted by Swaffham Lioness Club, it was with greatpleasure that District Lioness Chairman Angelabadged up Lion Tony Briault as an HonoraryLioness. Lion Tony was a Lion previously for manyyears and sadly left Lions, but he has recentlyreturned to the pride and we are all delighted to seehim back. Lion Tony hasalways been a strongsupporter of Lionesses, hehas always been and still is,always there when we needhim, both at District andMultiple District. He isaffectionately known toWitham Lioness Club as their“Extraordinary Helper”.

I would like to thank all the Lionesses from not justEA but also from the whole of MD 105 for the getwell cards, phone calls and baby sitting that theLionesses gave me during the early days of myrecent illness.I have always stated that Lionesses know how tocare for those in need and believe me I really didneed all the contacts that were made. Can I alsothank those that contacted and cared for Sandie atthis worrying time. I knew in my heart that all thegirls would respond in the way they did. What else would Lionesses do but care for thosethat need help and just a kind word in support.Thank you all again so much.My love to you all and just keep LIONESSING.YOU ARE THE BEST.

Miranda gave an insight into the her role anddiscussed varying ways in which hospice care is delivered both as an inpatient andas care at home. Eleven thousand pounds is the amount needed each day tofund the cost of managing the hospice and providing care. This makes fundraisingessential as the hospice is not funded by the NHS. Miranda was surprised anddelighted to be presented a cheque for £352.00, which would help cover the costof 10 home visits. The Lionesses explained their past history of support to thehospice, how they initially introduced the tree of light which can be found on theroad leading to the hospice.
