The power is transmitted via the keys, the sleeveis fixed vibration-free and secured by the locknuts. The distance "a" between the shaft endscan be adjusted.

Guide bearings, sleeve bearings

The guide bearings are positioned by centrings inthe column shafts and tightened by hexagon capscrews. The sleeve bearing is located in the hubof the guide bearing. Standard bearing materialfor clean liquids is sintered Graphite-Teflon foil.The bearing foil is of floating design and has dryrunning capability.

When handling liquids with abrasive solids,wear-resistant SiC-sleeve bearings can beinstalled.

General, applications

The DICKOW vertical submersible long shaftpump is a one or multistage centrifugal pump.The performance range covers capacities up to500 m3/h (2200 USgpm) and differential headsup to 400 mLC (1310 ft) and is subdivided suchthat best efficiency is granted at all serviceconditions.

With a wide selection of materials, several designoptions and shaft sealing systems, the HZVpumps are suitable for handling almost all kindsof liquids which are free of abrasive solids andof suitable viscosity.

Common applications are unloading of fuels andsolvents from underground tanks, e.g. for kero-sine respectively jet fuel in hydrant systems foraircraft refuelling (Cat.1-design) and pumpingcondensate or ammonia (barrel casing design).

Design

Hydraulic pump part

The hydraulic pump parts are located in thepumping fluid respectively in the tank. The pumpparts consist of suction and discharge casing,intermediate casings, diffusers and impellers.The discharge casing is bolted to the bottomcolumn pipe. The closed impellers are hydrauli-cally balanced by balance holes and wear ringsto keep the thrust loads as small as possible.

Support columns

The support columns are made of seamless steeltube with welded neck connection flanges. Thenumber of column pipes is determined by thesubmerged length and the pump speed.

Pump shaft, column shaft(s),drive shaft

The complete shaft consists of the pump shaft,one or more column shafts and the drive shaft.The single shafts are rigidly connected throughscrewed sleeve couplings.

The maximum lengths of the column shaftscomply with the recommendations of the API 610and are dimensioned to guarantee subcriticalspeed characteristics throughout the wholeoperating range.

Sleeve coupling

The all-metal sleeve coupling consists of thesleeve, the lock nuts and the fixing screws.

Drive lantern (motor support)

The drive lantern is a welded construction ofseamless steel tube. Discharge flange, motorhub flange and the flange for connection to thedome cover are welded to the drive lantern.Shaft sealing and antifriction bearings are alsolocated in the drive lantern.

Dome cover (mounting flange)

Standard material of the dome cover is carbonsteel. Stainless steel material 1.4571 (ASME SS316) is available on request. The dome covers aregenerally made according to the mounting flangedimensions of the tank, as long as they canaccomodate the outer diameter of the pumpbody.

If the tanks are pressurized, the covers will besized and manufactured according to theapplicable requirements.

Barrel casing

For handling boiling liquids (e.g. condensate) andif very low NPSH-values are required, the HZV-pump with barrel casing is available.

Dimension "H" is determined as follows:

H = NPSHR – NPSHA + 0,5 m

(NPSHR – acc. to performance curve,0,5 m is safety margin)

The drive shaft is fixed axially through a grease-lubricated, double-row angular ball bearing.This ball bearing carries the rotor weight and theresidual thrust loads. A grease lubricated doubleseal ring protects the bearing from shaft sealingleakage.

To increase bearing running time (MTBF) thebearings can also be offered with oil lubrication.

Motor, coupling

The motor is connected to the drive lantern abovethe dome cover. IEC-motors of design V1 areused as standard. NEMA-motors withUS-dimensions can be used as an option.

The motors are connected to the drive shaft witha suitable coupling. If spacer-type couplings areused, repair works on bearings and shaft sealingcan be carried out without removal of the motor.

HZV Cat.1/V design

General, field of application

The submersible pumps of series HZV-Cat.1are suitable for pumping inflammable, highlyinflammable and extremely inflammable liquidsout of Zone 0 (e.g. underground tanks, vessels),provided that these liquids belong to explosiongroup IIA and to temperature class T1 to T4.The compliance with the basic safety and healthrequirements for design and manufacture ofthese submersible pumps for the defined use inhazardous areas acc. to Annex II of the ExplosionProof Directive 94/9/EC is confirmed by atype approval of the German notified body PTB.

Pump designation acc. to ATEX:ExII1/2 Gc/bIIBT4

The required safety features are:

Casing material

The pressurized parts of the hydraulic pump part,suction and discharge casings and intermediatecasings are made of cast steel GP 240 GH,respectively of stainless steel 1.4408.

Flow switch

The flow detector is flanged to the dischargeflange of the pump. If the capacity falls belowthe required minimum flow, the flow detectorwill shut-off the pump via a relay.

Level switch

The level switch shuts-off the pump if liquid levelfalls below minimum allowable level.

PT100 temperature monitor

The PT100 monitors the temperature of thepump casing and detects overheating throughupset conditions.

Drive motors

Motors must be ATEX approved.
