PRESCHOOL NEWS
Sometime during our September Holiday period, a water pipe burst and
caused major water damage to our beautiful Preschool building. Until
further notice, Preschool will now be held in the Mungindi Central
School Hall.
A reminder to parents/carers who visit Preschool at Mungindi
Central School Hall:

Dear Parents, Carers and Members of the Mungindi Community
Welcome to Week 1, Term 4
Wow, where is the year going? I hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable break and the dreaded germs
that plagued us last term have left the town.
As our current HSC students are getting ready to sit their HSC examinations, our year 11 students are now
commencing their HSC course. I wish all our students sitting HSC examinations the very best and I know
you will do yourselves proud.
You may have heard that our Preschool has unfortunately been required to close due to a significant water
leak on the weekend. As you can see by the photo on the front page the damage is quite extensive. As a
result, we have been required to place the preschool in the hall until further notice. Thank you to Miss Bec
Vanke, Mr Peter Prince and Ms Leisa Spackman for all the hard work you have put in getting the room
going again for our ‘littlelest ones’. It is very much appreciated.
As the term begins to heat up can I please ask that you ensure your child has plenty to keep them hydrated
through the day and ensure they have a hat to wear. I would also appreciate the application of sunscreen to
become part of their morning routine where possible as well please. Keeping your child safe is very
important to me and sun safety is just another aspect of that. This will go for the secondary students also.
No hat no play!!!!!!!
There seems to be a number of students who are arriving to school without a school bag and equipment. I
have always expressed quite clearly my expectations regarding our individual responsibilities when it
comes to our roles in educating our children. Please assist us by ensuring your child comes to school with
their school bag containing the appropriate equipment, books, laptop, food, water/drink etc for the day.
Should you need assistance please do not hesitate to contact me at the school on 67532207 to make an
appointment as I will be more than happy to help in any way I can.
Applications for year 7 selective high school placement in 2019 are now open. If you wish for child to
undertake the placement test or you require further information about the application process it is available
on the unit’s website at:
https://education.nsw.gov.au/public-schools/selective-high-schools-and-opportunity-classes/year-7.
Finally, I am taking leave until Monday October 30th as I am to become a grandmother for the first time and
Ms Shelly Riddell will be relieving as Principal.

Please note:
As of July 2017 any student who has missed school program vaccines or any childhood vaccines can now receive these vaccines from their local doctor. For more information please refer to
www.immunise.health.gov.au and click on

We begin Term Four with a new focus on 'Taking Ownership'. Our society increasingly seeks to blame others for all that goes wrong in our lives. It is natural to want to blame others, but we need to encourage our future generations to accept responsibility for their actions. Therefore, we will be encouraging students to take ownership over their own life. This means that we will admit our mistakes, worry about our own actions and not the actions of others and be motivated learners ready to make the best choices for our education. In other news, we hope to finalise our gold and platinum rewards over the coming week, so stay tuned for next weeks newsletter ! PBL TEAM
