@ 5 & 8 PM

NOVEMBER 2017Greetings“More!”I was watching a parent feed his toddler ice cream. It was one of those moments that brought back memories of when my guys were toddlers.

Like my guys, the toddler in the high chair, said after each mouth full, “MORE!”

“MORE!,” that one word got me to thinking about humanity’s desire to want more. The months of November and December seem to me, be a celebration of more.

Thanksgiving - There is MORE food on the table Thanksgiving Day than any other day of the year. There is MORE food than the people sitting around the table - and there is more of them - could possibly eat.

Christmas - There is MORE gifts under the tree than last year. MORE parties. MORE decorations. MORE company. MORE…

If you could have MORE of anything you wanted what would it be?MORE money? MORE time? MORE patience? MORE…

The apostle John said, “He, meaning Jesus, must become greater; I, meaning himself, must become less.” What John was saying is that he wanted MORE of Jesus. His desire was not just for himself, but for the world.

John wanted more of what God wanted for himself, than what he wanted for himself.

As we prepare to enter into the season of Thanksgiving and Christmas, are you willing to settle for less, so you can have MORE?

More food on the table Thanksgiving Day, does it really make you MORE grateful. More gifts under the Christmas tree, does it really enable you to celebrate the birth of Christ MORE?

As I observe and share in the heart break and pain, the joys and accomplishments of others; As I watch the immature behavior of national and world leaders, who should know better; As I observe professional athletes, who make a minimum starting salary of $450,000 to play a child’s game disrespect the flag, while U.S. Army soldiers whose starting salary is $18,000 put their life on the line to defend our flag.As I see news reports of cities and countries being ravaged by storms, mountain sides and towns being engulfed in flame families in need of a roof over their head, clothes on their bodies and food to eat. As I have seen MORE disturbing events,I have come to the conclusion that what the world needs is MORE, than just love sweet love. We need MORE of Jesus. MORE of Jesus’ Spirit. MORE of Jesus’ love. MORE of Jesus’ wisdom.

God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. - 2 Corinthians 9:8

May you have MORE of God and what God wants for you.

Pastor Rich

Rt. 130 SGoal: Raise money for our Youth Group Mission Trip

We will be traveling to Boston, MA to work with homeless shelters and serve the children and elderly in the city. Sponsors and Donors are needed to help us reach our goal. You can donate or register on line by going to our Facebook page or click on the link button on our website. You will find a link for the Santa fun race.

A TEST OF OBEDIENCEDo you ever get tired of giving your offering? For some people one offering is one too many. We take an offering every week because God has commanded His people to be generous. Yet if we are not careful we can get resentful of the weekly offering. The offering, like nothing else, tests our obedience to God’s Word and our faithfulness to Him. But sometimes we get weary.Galatians 6:9, 10, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have

opportunity, let us do good to all people.”

SCRAP BOOKINGDo you have photos you don’t know what to do with Join our Scrapbooking Club. We meet two Wednesdays a month in the social hall from 10am – 2 pm, $5.00, bring your lunch. November dates are: 15th and 29th. Call Donna Lucid to RSVP or with any questions at 908-331-1758.

THANKSGIVING CANDYBY DONNA

2018 CALENDARSThey are available in the narthex, church office and social hall. Take an extra one or two and give them to your neighbors, family or friends.

STAINED GLASS WINDOW‘Great faith is a product of great fights. Great testimonies are the outcome of

great tests. Great triumphs can only come out of great trials.’ Our window has proclaimed the good news of Jesus’ resurrection for 95 years. The panels are presently at the stain glass studio. They are being cleaned, reinforced, and repaired so they will be a window of hope for another 95 plus years. The removal of the panels allowed for a very thorough examination of the wood frame.

The examination revealed the need to replace the entire frame. This is going to require:1. Hiring an architect to draw blue prints2. Bidding out the prints to Mills to

manufacture the frame. It must be ordered special.

The cost to complete this work could be upwards to $100,000.

We have submitted a claim with our insurance company. Since the damage to the wood frame can be attributed to the broken drain pipe and leaking tower roof.

Work completed up to now is:The upper and lower roof of the tower has been installed. The drain pipe has been replacedThe 8 stained glass panels have been removed and taken to the stain glass studio.

The total bill for work completed is $51,729.20

We received a donation of $20,000, 2 donations for $10,000.00 each from members. In addition we have received checks from other church members totaling an excess of $3,500.

It is unfortunate that we have experienced the unexpected at every turn, but as Paul

said, “Run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith.”
