Music Magazine EvaluationDarius Azadeh
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of
real media products?
Comparison to a real media product of the same genre
SkylineNME The
Hive
Both skylines are quite similar, as they both share the common magazine conventions, featuring articles that will stand out to the reader, but not main ones. The only differences between these two is that the font I have used is quite obviously from ordinary Microsoft text, which does not look very professional. Also, the NME skyline is organised in a more professional way.
MastheadNME The
Hive
For my masthead I have followed the ordinary form of a music magazine masthead. I have come to this conclusion because I am comparing it with the NME magazine on the left, a real media product. They both are similar, even with tag lines. A way they are different however is that there is more colour in the real media product, so this could possible be seen as my magazine challenging the convention, as mine is one simple plain colour.
Cover Photo/Middle Section/Anchorage Text
The main section of my magazine is quite similar to ordinary convention. The main image is layered under everything else, there are numerous puffs on the left and right, and the anchorage text for the main article stands out. There is also a barcode that goes along the side near the bottom.
Bottom Sell line NME The
Hive
For my bottom sell line, I have done what is commonly seen on real music magazines, which is include a few extra stories at the bottom. This lets the reader know about extra interesting stories that are possibly of a more specific interest.
