Live Music MARCH 3 ERIC SHIFRIN & THE IN-CROWD — Swingin’ Good-Time Music Eric Shifrin is a longtime favorite at Stanford Hospital concerts, and one of San Francisco’s great saloon pianists performing standards and lesser known American pop gems. He will be accompanied by his drummer of many years, Mark Lee, and bassist Ari Munkres. Also featured with the In-Crowd will be San Francisco’s first-call reedman Jeff Sanford. MARCH 10 STARLITE STRINGS TRIO—Classical & Showtunes The Starlite Strings Trio performs selections of light classical and popular genres, that include a range of charming repertoire from Operetta and Viennese Waltzes, to Broadway musicals. MARCH 17 VALERIE ROSE— Irish Music Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day as Valerie Rose presents songs and dance tunes from the great Irish/Celtic tradition. Valerie’s arrangements of traditional Irish tunes and songs are spiced with rich harmonies and playful interchanges between voice and instruments. Audiences will be captivated by the pure, haunting quality of her voice, and the vibrant intensity of her fiddling. MARCH 24 HEARTSTRINGS MUSIC — The Music of Italy Heartstrings Music is Al Fabrizio on mandolin and Hugo Wainzinger on guitar. These two masters of Italian music will transport you to the sidewalk cafes of Rome, sunny Tuscan landscapes and relaxing gondola trips on the canals of Venice as they play classic Italian folk music, love ballads, and iconic Italian movie themes including the “Godfather” of them all! MARCH 31 TANGONERO — Argentine Tango Music Tangonero is a San Francisco based ensemble dedicated to preserving the tradition of Argentine Tango. From the folk styling of Roberto Grela to the jazz infused grandeur of Astor Piazzolla, their arrangements cover the broad scope of tango history. Overflowing with intense passion, lust and sorrow, their performance captures the fire of the dance and the essence of a culture.
