MUSIC VIDEO MOOD BOARD

ARTISTS

There are various types of artists within the music industry that focus on different types of genres. Some of my

favourite artists are: Beyoncé, Drake and Ed Sheeran – these are the ones I will be using as inspiration for my own

music video I will produce. I think Ed Sheeran’s music is good to use as his lyrics are meaningful, they always

manage to get emotion out of the audience whereas Drake just sings words but can make them sound good as he’s

good with his rhythm and beat. In my opinion, Beyoncé is one of the world’s best performers – she lives up to the

crowd and gives every song her all… I like her confidence behind her videos and that’s what I want to try and take

from her to use in mine.

ARTISTS

GENRES

I have a few different ideas on terms of genre for producing my own music video. Therefore, I have selected a variety of images relating to different genres so show that I may be using aspects from more than one. I like the idea of using

pop/house music as it’s very modern within this time period, genres such as rock, reggae and jazz were more

popular in the past than they are now which influences me to leave them be and use something fresh like artists do

now rather than creating something which could be classed as recurrent.

GENRES

SETTINGS

Depending on the genre and sub genres I decide to use, this will determine the setting of my music video. However,

I think I would much rather prefer to create a narrative based music video so it’s more realistic and doesn’t look to staged and performed. The visual content of a music video

generally looks better when it’s natural and shot/filmed in a more random setting e.g. on the street, rather than on a

stage.

Close Up Shot

Wide Shot

Long Shot

Mid Shot

Two Shot

Aerial Shot

As far as camera shots go, I think it looks more professional to use a large vary of different shots e.g. close ups, long shots, two shots, aerial shots, etc. – this is because if you shoot a whole music video with the camera in the same

place, at the same angle, it can get boring to look at… So if you’re shooting from all angles it’s more exciting for the

audience to watch and will attract attention more viewers because it’s more appealing to look at.
