The Father of us, Turks..

Mustafa Kemal Atatrk was born in Thessaloniki in 1881.

He graduated from the Military School and joined the army as an officer.

He became the chief commander of the army during the War of Independence. (1919-1922)

He founded the modern Turkish Republic in 1923.

The Turkish Grand National Assembly elected him as the first president.

During this period the following reforms were constituted1. Political Reforms

Abolishment of the office of the Sultan Proclamation of the Republic Abolishment of the religious leadership Recognition of equal rights for women and men

2. Social ReformsReform of Headgear and Dress3. Legal Reforms

Abolishment of the Canon LawTransfer in to a secular law structure4. Educational and cultural reforms

Adoption of the new Turkish alphabet5. Economic Reforms

Atatrk died in 1938.His mausoleum is in Ankara, the capital city of Turkey.
