Students took place in an opening ceremony representing countries from all around the world. They engaged in a number of activities including Canadian Softball, Newcombe Ball, and European Handball. The students had a fantastic day. Congratulations to our Touch Football Girls who defeated Scone Public School 6-5 in a drop off. The girls showed great team spirit and determination to win the game. We wish them all the best in the next game. Good luck to our zone athletes who are off to Singleton Heights tomorrow. We ask that you compete hard as safe, respectful, responsible citizens. Next week Year 5 students are going to Forster for the camp. We wish them all the very best and hope they challenge themselves and give their best efforts with all activities. Congratulations to all awards winners at the K-6 assembly yesterday. It was wonderful to see the different talents shown in a variety of key learning areas. Thanks to PJ for making an appearance. Yours in Education, Jonathan Russell Principal Assemblies - Tuesday 23 rd August The Primary assembly for Years 3 to 6 will be held at 12.15pm. 5N will be performing a class item at this assembly. The Infants assembly for Kindergarten to Year 2 will start at approximately 12.50pm. K1/S will be performing a class item at this assembly. All parents & carers are warmly invited to attend. Please note entry is via the front gate only. WEEK 5 AWARD WINNERS Congratulations to all our students receiving awards this week. MSPS are proud of your efforts! Congratulations to our 2016 Public Speaking award winners. Thank you to Val McDonald from the Muswellbrook Lioness Club for presenting these awards and to the Muswellbrook Lioness Club for supporting our Public Speaking again this year. Touch Football Girls Congratulations to our girl’s touch football team on a nail biting win yesterday against Scone Public School. The girls will now move on to Round 4 in the PSSA Touch Football. Good luck in the next round!

Muswellbrook Hospital Donation At yesterday’s assembly the SRC presented Sharon Eriksson from Muswellbrook District Hospital with a cheque for $500 from funds raised in our 5c fundraiser held last term.

Premier Reading

Challenge Alert Dear Parents, The N.S.W. Premier’s Reading Challenge closes on Friday 19th August. Thank you to all those children who have already given me their completed sheets. There are still a lot of children who need to finish. Please come to the Library if your child has lost their sheet or if your child needs to borrow more books to complete the Challenge. Anne Solman- Teacher Librarian Clothing Donations If you have any old school uniforms or shoes at home that no longer fit your child would you please consider donating them to the school.

What’s Happening in SRC? Crazy Hair Day Friday 19th August (Week 5) Wear your hair as crazy as can be! Prizes for the best hair. School uniform still to be worn. School Disco Wednesday 7th September (Week 8) K-2: 5pm-6pm 3-6: 6:15pm-7:30pm Theme: Pyjamas and onesies Prizes for the best dressed in each year/group Cost: $5 includes drink and packet of chips. All money raised will be donated towards Stewart House.

COMMUNITY BBQ The next PCYC Muswellbrook free Community BBQ will be held on Friday 19th August at Hunter Park 3.30pm - 5.30pm - All Welcome TAFE Course Learn English at TAFE - If you are new to Australia or have been living here for some time but want to improve your English we can help. We have English courses and friendly teachers that will help you to read, write and speak using the English language.
