HistoryMullinavat Community Forum formed in 2002
following a series of public meetings and a Village Appraisal held by BNS Rural Development Group. (Leader).
Preliminary Plans were drawn up for three different sites
The site of old parish hall. Parish land above the church. Parish field beside G.A.A. field.
All of these plans failed for various reasons.Other sites were also considered.

Very Poor toilet facilities No heating , Poor Lighting, No car parking Poor access The design life of the present hall has expired with
some time
A Community Centre is an integral part of all communities in rural areas through out Ireland
Who benefits from the Community Centre and how?
All Parishioners in Mullinavat- Young & Old18 Community GroupsChildren of Mullinavat Parish with its close
proximity to the schoolLands to the existing hall will be incorporated
into the school site Provision of a common car parking area with
coach access to the school & Hall
2011Following discussions with Principal of St.
Beacon’s N.S. it was agreed to investigate using the site in the school field.
A meeting was held with the Board of Management of St. Beacon’s N.S.
Agreement in principle was reached subject to safety considerations being met to allow Mullinavat Community Forum apply for planning permission.
A meeting was held with Diocesan Properties Committee and Fr. Barron to discuss a lease on the site.

Sports Hall – 3 badminton courts, basketball court, five a side soccer, one wall handball court etc
Two Changing rooms General Purpose Room incorporating a kitchen Small Library Reception Area Toilet facilities First floor general purpose area
2012Agreement was reached with Ossory
Diocesan Trust to arrange sale of site subject to agreement on price.
Planning permission lodged Feb. 2012.Planning permission received Dec. 2012
2013Feb 2013 : Sale price of site agreed with
Ossory Diocesan Trust :€10,000

Cost of Community Centre: 800,000 euro
Site costs, professional fees etc: 50,000 euro

Leader Grants: 255,000 euro
Kilkenny County Council: 45,000 euro
