Camp Delta Spring 2013
By John Neuenburg, Camp Delta Activities Coordinator
Stoney Brook volunteered to be POC for the USN & USMC Vehicle Showcase planned for that Friday
morning next April. If you’d like to help him with MV placement or helping coordinate specific segments
of the display, contact him at [email protected]. We expect some interesting vehicles. Remember that
replica vehicles are welcome – they don’t have to be from USN/USMC contracts. Also a contract vehicle
that is painted Army is OK. Uniformed “troops” are welcome and we expect some militaria and living
history displays in support. Of course all MVs and military displays are welcome, and we are bringing back
the official “Uniform Day” that Friday, and would like to schedule a seminar or two. What do you want to
do? Spud cannons? Contact me via my info on the VP page.

of Freedom Tribute in the town of Sonoma, and the
Veteran’s Day Parade the same weekend in Petaluma
with a low-cost camping option at KOA in Petaluma.
Important that anyone wanting to get the discount
talks to me for instructions. With the special display
happening at the Good Guys car show in Pleasanton,
November 10-11 has a ton of options!
You MVPA members might have noticed another
MVCC ad in the recent Supply Line. This is more of
a recruitment ad than an event ad and it refers
readers to our website. It will be interesting if we get
some response. There are a lot of MVPA members in
our operating area and no doubt some don’t know
much if anything about the MVCC. The ad also tags
the Camp Delta events and mentions the USN &
USMC vehicle showcase planned for next April.
We don’t want anybody with a qualifying vehicle to
not know about this opportunity to show it off. We
also ran a couple display ads in Military Vehicles
Magazine about our Camp Delta events. T
his is to reach MVers who are not in MVPA or
MVCC. Speaking of special displays, we hear that
BAE Systems might be for sale. A recent sale or
merger with a big French-German defense contractor
was torpedoed by the various governments,
including the UK, over who gets what percentages.
Could be some US company will want BAE.
Let’s hope they continue to support events with
displays of vehicles they used to produce and
continue to support.
John

November’s events.
San Jose Veteran’s Day Parade. Parade is on November 11th, in down town San Jose. Our usual staging area
has been on the East side of H.P. Pavilion (The Shark Tank) on N Autumn Street. Best to get there by
around 10 AM. The MVCC has continuously participated in this parade, over the decades. This is my 30
year anniversary, for participating in it. No matter what the weather is, this parade will still proceed. Bring
snacks, beverages and clothing appropriate for the weather. If you do not have a MV no problem…
come on out and we will find you something to ride in. The San Jose Veteran’s Day parade is in the top ten
for participants and spectators, in California. If you would like to have the fun of convoying over to our
parade staging area, you are invited to join a group that gathers in the South Sunnyvale area, at 1464
Navarro Drive. Marshaling there starts at about 8:30 AM with departure around 9:15 AM. If you just miss
us, we travel East on El Camino, as it snakes around it will goes past Santa Clara University, we follow
traffic and turn onto “The Alameda”. That street transforms into W. Santa Clara Street, which will pass by
the South East corner of the H.P. Pavilion. Just after passing, we turn onto N Autumn Street. After the
parade we meet up again, usually behind the reviewing stands on Park Ave and convoy back to Navarro
Drive, with a side trip to “In and Out Burger”.
Remember to vote, and De-elect a few folks, on Election Day.
Have a safe Thanksgiving

After Action Report
On September 8, 2012, the “Southern Boys” got together for the Annual Charity Car Show at Rim of the
World High School in Lake Arrowhead. John Bodnar reports it was a very enjoyable event, and the
weather up on the hill was a very comfortable 70 degrees; even though, the valley folks just down the hill
were roasting in triple digit heat.
They were hoping that the added camping in the back of the school would draw more people. Even
though this was not the case, they still put on a great show for the locals.
The vehicles in attendance were three Jeeps and four trailers to include John’s and Julie’s 1943 MB
(Sarge), their T3 trailer, and a 1943 Caisson for a WW2 display.
Gary brought his M151 Mutt and Erik and Mary Terberg brought their 1942 MB with T-3 trailer and
“Mary’s Mess”.
John set up a car trailer with a WW2 display on it that included a ground-mounted M1919A4, M30
anti-aircraft gun, trench mortar, various small arms, shower packs, lanterns, a 48 star American flag and
many more pieces of historical equipment.
“Mary’s Mess” was open for lunch serving up hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans, cole slaw, cold drinks
and much more. The food was enjoyed by all, and Mary did a great job keeping the MVers topped off.
Many who attended the car show stopped by to view the displays and share stories and ask questions.
Everybody had an outstanding time and the bad weather held off until the event was done.
The “Southern Boys” would like to extend an invite to all to come on out and check out the show on the
hill next year.
