Editor’s Note
Its finally here. The Expert point of view. That’s what I was going to call it. But I fol-low what the fan fondly call the community. MW Family.
I wasn’t sure it was going to get started. From the time we started the Mwanawanga fo-rum in 2011, I knew at one point we would need to have some expert advise on some of the issues discussed on the facebook wall. What I wasn’t sure about was when.
After putting if off for various reasons on several occasions, we decided to just go fro it. I sincerely hope this publication will be as helpful and useful to the readers as our facebook forum has been.
Although the center of this publication is to give expert point of view to some forum questions, we add other things to make it more like a maga-zine like the pregnant mom essentials in the shopping section and the recipes in the food corner.
Your critique and comments are invited and welcome.
Editor,
Susan.

Is it safe to exercise during pregnancy?
The answer is yes and no. This is the case simply because each pregnancy is unique and has its
individual risk factors. The other reason is that not all forms of exercise are ok for a pregnant woman.
For this reason, every expectant mother should consult her doctor to find out if for her particular pregnancy
it is safe to exercise or not.
What are some of the benefits of exercise during pregnancy?
You will sleep better and feel less fatigue during your pregnancy
You will have better and quicker recovery after delivery
You will have reduced risk of gestational diabetes
You will have less back ache during your pregnancy
You will have shorter labour. This is not a guarantee but studies indicate that women who exercise during pregnancy tend to experience shorter labour
You will be happier generally due to the endorphins that are generated during exercise
You will have better quality of sleep provided you don’t exercise right before sleeping
Some simple exercises for you
Swimming is great a because it is low-impact and works many muscles at the same time.
Walking is also great and you get some extra fresh air while at it.
Simple stretching of arms and legs is another exercise you can do right in your home.
