SICKLE CELL CHARITY INITIATIVE – COMEDY SHOW & PARTY

As we begin a new year supporting Sickle Cell as our Charity Initiative. I would

like to personally thank the Grand Lodge, Columbine Grand Chapter, Local

Lodges, Chapters, Organization and the individual members for your support

last year. We are very excited to say that the first year was very successful.

Three checks were written at last years Grand Lodge Session, $3412.50 to the

Denver Chapter, $1412.50 to the Colorado Springs Chapter and $1000.00 to The

Sickle Cell Disease of America.

Our efforts to continue our commitment to Sickle Cell began this year. On

November 30, 2019, a fundraiser for the Sickle Cell Initiative was held at the

Improv in Northfield Stapleton. Thanks to the Improv who donated 150 tickets

,I am pleased to say the event raised a total of $2,170.00.

With the $2170.00 raised, $1000.00 donation from Columbine Grand Chapter

Order of the Eastern Star and the $5000.00 from the Grand Lodge, a total of

$8170.00 will be split between the National and local Sickle Cell chapters.

Thanks to the members of the Grand Lodge, Grand Chapter, Family and Friends

that support this very important Charity Initiative.

Thanks to the committee, Brother Mark Richardson, RWDGM Edward, RWGL

4 – CORNERS COGM/GWM/GWP “Growth through Leadership and Motivation”

The Four Corners Regional Conference of Grand Masters,

Grand Worthy Matrons and Grand Worthy Patrons, March 21

– 24 2019 at the Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas,

Nevada, hosted by MWGM Rev. Richard Vega and GWM

Darlene Harvey. The theme was “Growth through Leadership

and Motivation”

We began the conference with a Joint opening and the various

introductions. Each Grand Master and Grand Worthy Matron

had an opportunity to have a few words and to introduce

their staff and members that were in attendance.

Prior to moving to our separate sessions the head count was

taken and though MWGM Timothy Seay and the members of

Arizona Jurisdiction brought a bus load of members they fell

short again, as once again Colorado Jurisdiction Showed up

and Showed out! We brought home the Traveling Trophy

again. I am proud of the members who traveled and

represented the Lodges and Chapters in our Jurisdiction.

We had a presentation from Brother Tracy Williams; who

briefed us on his Bike Ride Across America Tour – 13 States

and some of the things that his Jurisdiction was doing.

The Four Corner Grand Masters gave presentations on

“Growth through Leadership and Motivation” in their

Jurisdictions. RWDGM Edward Moore and I presented for

our Jurisdiction.

On Thurday, during the

Shrine portion, we had the

opportunity to do

community service at The

Three Square facility, Three

Square provide meals for

low income families. We

stuffed bags with carrots

and took a tour of the

facility.

Imperial Potentate Charles

Davenport and Imperial

Commandress Josephine Stokes

A Word from

MWGM Keith L. Weston 66th

Greetings from MWGM Keith L. Weston

Greetings, Brothers of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of

Colorado and Its Jurisdiction Inc. and Grand Worthy Matron Juanita Davis and

Sisters of Columbine Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star.

Congratulations! The local lodges have conducted annual elections and the

officers have been installed. I would like to congratulate all newly elected and

returning officers. It has been an honor working with you and hope that you all

continue to work towards the slogan “Many Masons One Mission”. I encourage

you as leaders to lead for all and remember sometimes that will require you to

make unpopular decisions. May I suggest a couple of books that I have read as you

lead Change, “Leading Change” by James O’Toole and “Adaptive Leadership” by

Ronald Helfetz and Marty Linsky.

As we bring new members into the Organization, our Jurisdictions Demographic is becoming younger and more

technology savvy. As leaders we must learn to adapt to the changing times and the demographic of our

Jurisdiction. As we know the ritual and what we do during meetings can not and will not change. However

how we do things in the communties we serve and other aspects can and should be looked at.

Achieving Goals! Over the past year and a half we set goals as a administration, I am proud to say because of the

support of the Brothers and Sisters and those that volunteered to chair projects and goals as well as the Elected

and Appointed officers of this Jurisdiction we achieved and exceeded the expectations for the set Goals. I say

Thank You, Thank You, and Thank You, to you all for all that you do as Brothers and Sisters of the Most

Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Colorado and Its Jurisdiction Inc.

A Word from Juanita Davis, 51st GWM

TIMOTHY 4:12 Let no man despise thy youth, but be thou an example

of the believers, in word., in conduct, in love, in, spirit, in faith, in purity.

It has been eight months since I pledged my honor as a woman and a member

of Columbine Grand Chapter, to uphold the dignity and moral fortitude of

the office of Grand Worthy Matron. It has been an exciting merry-go-round

of activities and learning experiences for me. I am enjoying spending time

with all my sister of Columbine and getting to know and spend time

commiserating with other sisters outside our jurisdiction. I know that I still

have a lot to learn in the performance of this office, and I vow never to

bring disrespect to it. Thank you, Columbine, for granting me this

opportunity to serve you and this community.

Juanita Davis, 51st Grand Worthy Matron

A Word from GWP Hendrix Lewis

And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him;

and he sat down, and taught them. John 8:2

Greetings,

It is an honor to serve you as your 48th Grand Worthy Patron for the ensuring year of

2019. I would like to tell you how honored and appreciative I am of your confidence in

electing me to this position. I will uphold the duties oh my office to the best of my

ability and hope that my efforts will reflect positively within this jurisdiction. As Master

Masons we have several obligations to our Sisters that are members of the Eastern Star.

By keeping them safe, provide council and guidance when asked or needed, and most of all being RESPECTFUL. It’s

important that we uphold are obligation as male Eastern Star’s and live and work in harmony with all. We are men of great

elegance and are looked upon as such in the world. I look forward to a rewarding year. May God order our steps in 2019.

Humbly submitted,

PP Hendrix Percival Lewis

48th Grand Worthy Patron

Achieving Strategic Goals

GOAL #1

“Build from within with the members we have.”

We all must play a part for this Goal to be successful.

The Grand Lodge Staff Elected and Appointed comes from Past Masters who have completed full terms as Masters of a local

Lodge. I’ve had to look at the list of Appointed Grand Lodge officers real close this year, unfortunately as Worshipful

Masters complete their terms as Masters of the lodge, they are not attending Grand Lodge Sessions to be active in holding

Elected and Appointed positions, exercising their right to vote and most important, the Past Masters are not around to learn

what it takes to run the Jurisdiction. When you are Elected or Appointed to a Grand Lodge Position your responsibility is

much weightier, as you will be required to represent not just your Local Lodge, you must represent the whole Jurisdiction

(Every Member).

I encourage Non-Elected Master Masons to attend Mid-Year Conference, as this is an opportunity for you to have a say and

a vote on measures that will come before the Grand Session. The other opportunity for you as a Master Mason is when a

resolution comes to your Local Lodge. Once measures are presented at Grand Session only Elected Grand Lodge Officers,

Sitting Worshipful Masters and Wardens and Past Masters get to vote on measures.

GOAL #2

“Building our visibility and reputation in the community by establishing a Charity Initiative program that will span over five years.”

We are proud that our Jurisdiction has voted to support the Sickle Cell Charity initiative by pledging $5000.00 a year for the

next Five Years for a total of $25,000.00. In addition to the Sickle Cell Charity Initiative we have attended various functions

and events throughout the Jurisdiction and had representation at several other Grand Lodge Sessions and events.

Saint Patrick Parade jointly with the EL Jebeles Shriners and Scottish Rite AF&AM two years

Martin Luther King Marade

Black Arts Festival Parade

Juneteenth Annual Parade

Black Chambers of Commerce Martin Luther King program two years

Attended the 300-year Triennium of the Grand Lodge of England, in London England

California Grand Masters Testimonial

Arkansas Grand Lodge Session

Wisconsin Grand Master Testimonial

Missouri Grand Lodge Session

Michigan Grand Lodge Session

Attended the Eastern Star Village appreciation dinner two years

Attended the Eastern Star Village Comedy Show two years

Met with the leadership for the Grand Lodge of Colorado AF&AM to collaborate on working together

GOAL #3

“Re-establish mid-year conference and assure that the information provided is time sensitive and important to upcoming

Grand Lodge Session.”

This year the mid-year was be hosted by Eureka Lodge No.2 in Pueblo. This is the second year we have worked under the

new format of Mid-Year, this year the set up mirrored a Grand Session setup and items were presented and discussed to be

forwarded to the upcoming Grand Lodge Session. I encourage Master Masons to attend future Mid-Year sessions as this is

prime opportunity for non-elected Master Masons to have a voice and vote on measures that will come before Grand Session

that follows mid-year.

GOAL #4

“Make workshops more meaningful by having more title specific training.”

The Grand Lodge Staff and I are committed to Training and Informing. The Worshipful Master, Wardens, Secretaries and

Treasure Workshop was held January 26, 2019, at the Masonic Hall 1820 Capitol Ave Cheyenne, Wyoming. The Workshop

was well attended and the presentations from the Grand Staff were well received. The lodges were well represented with a

total 55 brothers in attendance, each lodge wore their lodge polo shirt with the Grand Staff sporting the Grey Jurisdiction Polo.

The presentations RWGJW Thomas, RWGSW Atmore and the RWDGM Moore, have been developed over the last six years,

to give consistent information. The presentations given to the Worshipful Masters and Wardens have been updated and every

year to meet the changing demands of growth. RWGT Johnson, RWGS Wilson and Grand Works and Return Chairman PM

S. Perry, revisited the 6-part folder, I ask that you continue to give this method a try to promote continuity in reporting during

your Grand Master Visitation inspections as well as your quarterly and annual reporting.

GOAL #5

“Renew or establish a Day/Week Prince Hall Founders’ day on or near March 6th.”

Most organizations have an annual event to honor their Founders. Prince Hall should have the same type of observation. I

challenge any lodge in the Jurisdiction to step up and come forth with an idea that will unite the Jurisdiction to celebrate our

founders. We fell a little short the first year, however this year in conjunction with the Grand Master’s Testimonial our

Founder’s Day was a complete success. Thanks to Team66 Testimonial committee and PM Tariq Collins who gave a history

of Prince Hall and Brother Sandy Reddic who gave a history of MWPGM TJ Reilly

GOAL #6

“Establish a Wayfaring Man Award to be awarded to the documented most traveled Master Mason in and out

of this Jurisdiction.”

Thanks to Worshipful Master Michael Cousar of Pikes Peak No. 5 for designing the Most Worshipful Past Grand Master

Raymond Black Passport. The Passport will be used to document the travel of a Master Mason. The Most travel Master

Mason will receive a plaque at the next Grand Lodge session. This program will also be a fundraiser for the Grand Lodge.

To sign up a fee of $25.00 will get the initial passport, any additional passports will be $10.00. All proceeds will go towards

program fees and awards, any profit will go to the MWPHGL of Colorado general fund.” The passport program has run

successfully for the past two years and has increased visitations amongst the participants.

GOAL #7

“Continue to improve relationship with the Concordant, adopted, appendant and affiliated Bodies of this Jurisdiction, most

importantly with Columbine Grand Chapter O.E.S.”

Thanks to Brother Roger Fletcher, I had the honor and privilege to be featured in the Denver Urban Spectrum magazine for

black history month. I was very Humbled by the opportunity. Below is original article before it was edited.

Urban Spectrum Feburary 2019 - Article by Ruby Jones

Honoring Brother Keith L. Weston with “A Brown or Chocolate Affair”

During the first weekend in March, the world’s oldest and largest group of Masons of African origin will celebrate 234 years

of brotherhood and servitude. Hundreds of Prince Hall Masons will convene in the Mile High City to celebrate Founders Day

Weekend and attend the Testimonial Banquet honoring Keith L. Weston.

Weston, who is approaching the end of his two-year term as the 66th Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Master of the Most

Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge Free and Accepted Masons of Colorado and Its

Jurisdiction, is looking forward to the opportunity to fellowship with Grand Masters from

around the world at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Denver-Stapleton. The weekend will begin

with a Table Lodge on Friday, March 1st; then on Saturday, March 2nd, there will be a Grand

Master 1-day class, as well as the weekend’s premiere event, the Sickle Cell Charity King

Contest & Fashion Show and Testimonial Banquet, themed “A Brown or Chocolate Affair.”

The weekend celebration will come to an end on Sunday, March 3rd, after a Joint Church

service and a visit to the grave site of First Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Master,

Thomas J. Riley.

Prince Hall Founders Day Weekend highlight the investments that Weston has made on the

journey to becoming the 66th Grand Master, while recognizing his contributions to the

community through charitable acts of service. Weston, who uses his platform to promote his

community outreach objectives, has been instrumental in increasing philanthropic activity

during his tenure. At the beginning of his term, he pledged to donate $25,000 to Sickle Cell

Disease research funding over five years. He knew that Sickle Cell Disease disproportionately

affects African Americans but did not anticipate the impact that focusing on the disease would

have. “I didn’t realize how many people within the organization are affected by Sickle Cell

Disease by either having it themselves, or someone in their family having it,” he says.

In addition to donating a portion of ticket sales to funding for Sickle Cell research and treatment, Weston partnered with the

Denver Improv to offer a limited amount of tickets at a discounted rate, with proceeds to be applied to the next $5,000 donation

installment during the 2019 Annual Session, but Weston hopes to exceed pledge goals with fundraisers throughout the year.

Service and brotherhood are at the foundation of Prince Hall Masonry’s mission. Weston, who has been a Prince Hall Mason

since 2000, remembers being one of the youngest participants in the organization when he joined. At that time, members ages

ranged from the mid-50’s to 60’s; but over time he has witnessed a shift to a younger demographic of new members, to which

he attributes attempts to make the organization more visible. He is eager to extend traditions of excellence to the next

generation of leaders, utilizing technology in addition to publicizing Founders Day events to support modern recruitment

efforts. By taking advantage of social media with a Facebook page for communication, he urges those interested in Prince Hall

Masonry to express interest, saying, “If you want to be one, ask one.”

After his term at Grand Master ends, Weston plans to continue working in his purpose to help others, while advancing on his

journey as a Prince Hall Mason and enjoying life with his wife, Stacey. He has faith and confidence in the men who will

succeed him as Grand Master, and he is optimistic about plans to increase membership and expand the impact of their work

in the community.

Weston is prepared to celebrate his success with a night of fashion, fellowship, and a gathering of beautiful Black men and

women dressed for “A Brown or Chocolate Affair.”

Nearly Twenty-Five years ago, Colorado was one of the first States to begin conversations of writing and ratifying

a compact between The Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Colorado and Its Jurisdiction Inc. Free and

Accepted Masons and The Most Worshipful Grand Lodge, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Colorado.

Two courageous men, Most Worshipful Grand Master Claude W. Gray Sr.

for the MWPHGL of Colorado and Its Jurisdiction Inc. F&AM and MWGM

James W. Aycock for the MWGL AF&AM of Colorado, set out to form

mutual reccognition between the to organizations. They believed that the two

organizations could exist in the same terrritory, with the right to reside and

work together in Peace, Harmony and Brotherly Love. A committee of four

representatives from each Jurisdiction meets regularly to consider and make

recommendations to each Grand Lodge; through its repspective Grand

Master, concerning issues, conflict, disputes and or questions.

I am proud to say that I have had a very good working relationship with our

Colorado AF&AM Grand Masters and Brothers, more so with MWPGM

Vernon Turner and current MWGM Ralph Newby. I Pray that this

relationship continues to grow. We are currently planning future events to

include celebrating the August 3, 1995 signing of the Compact marking

Twenty-Five years of working and serving as Masons.
