SUMMARY

My Dog Skip is a memoir about the author- Willie Morris’s childhood memories with his amazing dog, Skip. Supported with a cast of many childhood friends, the author shows his true love for his dog with many loyal, sad, and meaningful memories. The story takes place in Yazoo City, a town on the Mississippi Delta. The author will take you back to a simpler time era without modern-day technology. Throughout his many adventures, another story unfolds with a girl named Rivers Applewhite, who would one day become his wife. She becomes very close with Skip also and is in many of Willie’s memories. All in all, this is a story about a boy and the mind-blowing adventures that Willie had with his best friend- his dog, Skip.

SONG

What Hurts The Most Me & My Gang 3:34Rascal Flatts Country

I picked this song to represent when Skip dies because Willie and Skip where very close and shared many good times together

Lyrics I can take the rain on the roof of this empty house. That don't bother me I can take a few tears now and then and just let them out I'm not afraid to cry every once in a while, Even though going on with you gone still upsets me. There are days every now and again I pretend I'm ok. But that's not what gets me

SONG CONT.

What hurts the most Was being so close And having so much to say And watching you walk away And never knowing What could have been And not seeing that loving you Is what I was tryin' to do It's hard to deal with the pain of losing you everywhere I go But I'm doin' It It's hard to force that smile when I see our old friends and I'm alone Still Harder Getting up, getting dressed, livin' with this regret But I know if I could do it over I would trade give away all the words that I saved in my heart That I left unspoken What hurts the most Is being so close And having so much to say And watching you walk away And never knowing What could have been And not seeing that loving you Is what I was trying to do What hurts the most Is being so close And having so much to say And watching you walk away And never knowing What could have been And not seeing that loving you Is what I was trying to do Not seeing that loving you That's what I was trying to do

RATING

I would give this book one star out of five. I would give it this rating because it never grasped my attention and had many long and confusing words. It was also not what I expected because I saw the movie and the part shown in the movie was only one chapter of the book. I did give it one star because I thought the author put a lot of heart into writing it and reflecting on his childhood.
