My Family HistoryLAYNE FICKLIN
Summary- Who, What, Why Who?
I worked with my mom and dad on this project. I was able to get a lot of information from them.
What? I want to learn stories about my Grandpa and make recipes
from his childhood. Why? I started this project so I could learn more about my grandpa.
My grandpa just recently passed away and I thought I should remember him in a good way.
Summary-Where, When, HowWhere?
It all started when I looked through my grandfather things. I wanted to learn more stories.
When? I started with my dad and asked him as many stories as I
couldHow? My parents helped me found everything out that I wanted to
know.
Story
My grandpa served in the Navy. He served in the Korean War. He never was in face to face combat, but he did help people get better and was on the flight deck crew. He was very brave to serve for his country. My grandpa let me keep my freedom.
Implications I started talking with my dad and everything started to
fall into place. I found my family tree.
Documentation The family tree you see in the slide before is my
family. I learned more about my family just by looking at my family tree. I found my family tree on Familysearch.com
Snapshots
Making bread with my mom. My mom’s bread is very
famous. I wanted to learn so I could make it for my kids.
I had my mom also teach me how to make Gumbo (family recipe)
since I know I want to have my kids try it.
These are family recipes that have been passed down to
four generation.
Reflection I am so happy I was able to do this project because I
was able to learn some recipes and learn stories about my Grandpa. I learned so much and I want to learn even more. This project was a pure joy for me to do.
Family is always there when you need them.
