NATIONAL MOTORSPORTASSOCIATIONS ARE HERE!

Late in season 12 anannouncement wasmade that season 13would see thecommencement ofnational groups ofdrivers called theNational MotorsportAssociations or NMA'sfor short.

For a country to qualifyfor an NMA they musthave a minimum of 10active members, withactive being defined aslogging in regularly, with an experiencecount of 3 or possessinga superlicence. This hasleft establishing an NMAout of the reach ofsmaller countries withlow membership, butan association cannotcompete without asolid membership, butmore on that later.

Should a country meetthe target at a laterdate, then they will beable to create theirNMA at that point. After a country hits thistarget of 10 they enterinto a presidentialelection, split into aperiod of time forcandidates to volunteer& campaign, followedby a vote.

Once the votingwindow closes apresident is elected for1 season, with anoption to volunteeragain at the end oftheir term. Afterchoosing a nationalsecretary to assisthim/her, the presidentmust begin choosingsuitable drivers inpreparation for theNations Cup.

The Nations Cup is dueto start at the beginningof season 13 andcurrently it looks like upto 20 countries willparticipate. The formatis not fully known yetbut there will be a teamof 6 drivers per countryand 6 events per weekone for each driver, 2 ofwhich are onlyaccessible for juniordrivers.

Each race will becontested in A1 cars, which perform betterthan formula 3, but notas good as formula 2. Inaddition, each countrywill have identical cars, which should lead tosome close racing andsome unexpectedresults, keep an eye onthe news pages formore information.

Q. Philippe, good to see you lookingwell. Tell me, how did you feel when yousecured your first F1 worldchampionship?A. Hi Emerald. Thanks, I feel pretty good andmaybe better and better in the Red BullVaillante Team. When, last season, we finallymanaged to secure our first title it really wasa fantastic moment for all the team and forme. But I have to be honest and to tell youthat it was not our goal at the beginning oflast season. We thought it was a little bit tooearly because our developments weresupposed to be a little bit late.

Q. In the end, you took the title by thesmallest margin possible, 1 point. Tellme a bit about the season and yourbattle with 2time F1 world champion,Andre Acarini.A. Yes but you know this one was totallyplanned :) . In the first part of the season allthe drivers had to face some wet races ; ourteam is particular good on that races and sowe managed to get some points that OMRdid not manage to catch. At the middle ofthe season, I had something like 50 pointsmore than André and only at that point westarted to think of our first title … In thesecond part of the season I saddly had a fewbad races and André came back. But our newengine arrived and the races suddenly were... easier :) . Unfortunately, this new enginebroke at the Brazilian Grand Prix and the 19points of margin I had went up in smoke. Forthe last race, we only had one securedsolution to win the championship : win therace and so the position of André had noimportance. The Team made a fantastic jobon the car and tried one or two new stuff andthey … worked. I won the race . We were sohappy and a little bit sad too, because myfriend Antoine had decided to leave the teamand to end his F1 career. Antoine is now incharge of the racing engineers in the team.

Q. A quick glance at this season’s F1standings shows you in a very strongposition to defend your world title. Withonly 4 races left, you are currently 14

points clear of your nearest challenger. Can you do it again?A. Well Emerald, something tells me your"quick glance" was a little bit too quick... :)My advantage is of 17 points. Can WE do itagain. Of course, once you have managed todo it, you want to do it again and with thecar we have this season everything ispossible. Maybe we will be able with Ödon IfjTök to bring back the two trophies

Q. My apologies for the mix up, it isindeed a 17 point margin now!Philippe, at the start of next season youwill be 32 years of age. What are yourplans for the future?A. My plans are to continue at least 2 or 3seasons. As long as I am in good shape I'llcontinue. The Red Bull Vaillante school heldby my friend P. de Montferrand has someyoung brilliant pilots but they are still tooyoung and they will have to wait a few moreseasonsOur team is fantastic and some youngmanagers have joined us. Everyone isworking hard in order to give Ödon and methe best possible car. The guys in theengineering department really know whatthey are doing and I am impressed when Isee all the calculations they are doing foreach development and each race.

Q. Before the interview ends, whatadvice would you give to new drivers onMRC?A. Don't give up. The beginning of a career isalways difficult. You have first to learn inorder to progress. Look at what older pilotsare doing and you will learn a lot. Maybesome of them will give you some advice. And maybe one day you'll join the fantasticcircus of formula one!

#By the end of Season 12, Philippede SaintGermain Jr went on to winthe MRC F1 World Championship fora 2nd time in a row. Once gainbeating Andre Acarini into 2nd placeby a margin of 35 points.

MyRacingCareer.com Official Merchandise Shop PARIS STREET CIRCUITParis, the capital of France since508 A.D., with a population closeto 2.3million inhabitants is wellknown across the globe for it'svarious tourist attractions such asthe Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame andthe Louvre Museum to name but afew. It is also widely regarded asthe one of the top fashion capitalsof the world, but never mind all ofthat...

Last Novemeber MRC ran acompetition looking for a fictionalstreet circuit to be created in Paris, and thanks to Italian MRC userCalu11, the MRC Paris StreetCircuit was born.

Calu11's Paris circuit design startswith the drivers packed tightly onthe "Senna Straight" which runsparralell to the River Seine on it'sright. An immediate righthandturn at "Cévert" could causeproblems for overaggressivedrivers when the lights go green, but once navigated you are

rewarded with the most technicalpart of the track.

A short spurt of power brings youto "Vaillant" where a slightly longerstraight points you in the directionof the twisty, "Bourbon" corkscrew.Once you cross the River Seineyou are faced with "Concorde", aseries of slowpaced left and rightsbefore making your way to"Découverte".

"Découverte" is easily the trickiestsection for drivers, especially ifthey are challenging or are beingchallenged while progressingthrough. Upon entering this sectionyou are faced with a 3prongedchicane which takes you straightinto a fierce hairpin. Goodhandling and a calm demeanouris required within "Découverte" tocome through unscathed.

Now it's all about horsepower asyou sprint towards the Arc deTriomphe via the "Prost Straight".

Make sure you stay on the trackhere as the horsechestnut treesthat line the ChampsElysees canbe very unforgiving if you have themisfortune of hitting one!

A wide arcing "Triumph Corner"needs negotiating before puttingthe hammer down once again onthe "Loeb Straight" to bring youcloser to lap completion. "Alpine"requires respect but once throughthis section the finish line is in sight!

This 5.7km long, 18turn Parisianstreet circuit has everything youcould ask for in such a design. Aschallenging street circuits go, thisone is right up there. Finding agood setup is a prerequisite to dowell around here, and with thefastest lap recorded so far in an F3car standing at around 01.42.,good focus and wideeyedattention will aide you in tamingthis circuit.

FORMULA 1 WORLD SERIES

S12 seen Phillipe de SaintGermain Jr once againcrowned world champion forthe 2nd time in a row, whileRed Bull Vaillante F1displaced 3time constructerchampions Odissea MartiniRacing from the top of theteam standings for the firsttime since it's inception. So, how will S13 pan out?

Well for a start it will be hardto look beyond both sets ofrivals for the titles nextseason. Acarini v SaintGermain Jr, Odissea v RedBull.

Mercedes will certainly bethere or thereabouts withseasoned veterans Grandiand Bum in the driving seats.

At the opposite end of thetable Ferrari, DEM andHamrHedZ failed to pick up asingle point between them inS12 and will all hope to givetheir fans something to shoutabout in S13.

Jordan GP consolidated 4thspot in the rankings and willhope to put more pressureon the teams above.

There is always a surpriseteam though that springsfrom the pack, who will it bethis season? What driverscan make a difference?

In the close season 2 teamshad a name change.Team Europe are now AudiMotorsport, and MarussiaMRC F1 are now known asBMW F1 Team.

MCLAREN MP4

The McLaren MP412C is thefirst McLaren designed andbuilt production car since thelegendary F1. It’s innovativedesign and Formula 1 inspiredtechnologies make it one ofthe most versatile and potentsupercars on the road

One such example of thistechnology is Brake Steer. Firstdeveloped for the Formula 1championship winning MP413,Brake Steer was swiftly bannedin the sport because of theadvantage it gave the cars. The innovative Brake Steertechnology manages traction, minimises midcornerundersteer and controlsoversteer when cornering atspeed. This groundbreakingtechnology is now applied toMcLaren’s road cars.

Factoring speed and steering angle, this system works out the perfectcornering trajectory. It then applies theexact amount of braking forcerequired to the rear inside wheel asyou corner – allowing the car toeffectively pivot around the desiredpath.

The 12C’s engine isn’t bad either.Tractable at low revs. Potent midrange muscle. Thrilling highrev punch.Smooth, refined and with a distinctivesoundtrack, the M838T enginecombines prodigious power andtorque with unprecedented fuelefficiency and low emissions.

With over 1,100 crafted parts andweighing just 200kg, the allaluminium, twinturbocharged, 3.8litre, V8 wasspecifically designed and meticulouslybuilt for the 12C. Matched to a drysump lubrication system and a flatplane crankshaft, the engine sitsincredibly low in the chassis – loweringthe car’s centre of gravity for improvedhandling.

Revving to a thrilling 8,500rpm, andcapable of 625PS (460kW/616hp), theM838T delivers phenomenal powerwith 80% of peak torque availablebelow 2,000rpm.A closer look at the engine revealsthese figures:

Max Speed 329kmph (207 mph)Torque 600NM (443LB FT)Power 625ps (460kW/616hp)

The McLaren MP412C, included on MyRacing Career’s list of private cars thateveryone can own once purchased, can be found under thenonconspicuous title of MCLMP4.

The McLaren MP412C is a favouriteamong private car owners on MRC,and is used on a variety of trackswithin the game itself. Some of it’smore favoured tracks however areMonte Carlo, Barcelona and YasMarina.

PLANNING YOUR DRIVER'S FINANCES"A fool and his money are soon parted..."

Thomas Tusser

Money, Money, MoneyFinancial strategy

In issue 1 of the MRC eMagazinewe explored one method ofgiving your driver a good kickstart to his/her career, but that’sonly the beginning. To build onthis, you still need to work on yourdriver from different angles.

In addition to hiring a coach youshould also look at the option ofhiring a public relations manager(PR guy) when close to signing anew sponsorship deal. Aftersigning this deal you can fire thePR guy to save you money. Thiscan be done each time a newsponsorship deal is about to runout. There is also the option tohire a 2nd PR guy, but this isusually only beneficial at a laterstage of your driver’s career.

PR guys can be expensivethough, so make sure you are notdraining your bank balance

otherwise staff members can justquit at the drop of a hat if youare unable to pay them theirweekly salary. Employees areheartless in MRC; you might bejust one credit short to pay them, but they’ll still quit. Your financialsituation at any given pointduring a season is worth keepingan eye on.

Luckily you have an assistant thatwill give you notice 1 week inadvance of anything you shouldbe aware of financially. You canalso find a financial reportrelating to income and outgoingexpenditure on the financepage.

One way to maximize your PRguy(s) efficiency is to sign multifunctional employees. Instead ofbringing in PR guys who onlyhave a high PR rating, aim for PRguys who in addition to having agood PR rating, also have highratings in other skills, such driving, mental or mechanical skills. An

employee with a decent highsecondary skill can help in yourdrivers training throughout aseason.

One thing to rememberregarding the hiring of a 2nd PRguy, or indeed a 2nd employeewith the same primary skill, is thatyour driver will not benefit fromthe full rating, but a lesserpercentage. You may alsoconsider signing a good raceengineer for your team as well. It’ll help you with setups/asanother skilled mechanic, but ifyou feel they’re taking away toomuch money out of your budgetthen don’t bother as it’s not thatimportant within the first season.Mechanics are not required inthe beginning as you have use ofa full crew behind the scenes, yesthey may not be very good butfor example; the difference in a1h+ race is negligible overall, maybe as little as 8 seconds.

Every season you have a choice

Page 15: My Racing Career Magazine - Issue 2

of several official series tochoose from that you willparticipate in for theupcoming season that allcarry different ratings, prizemoney and competition. This iswhere you get the mostseasonal rating, about 98% ofit. This is an important factorfor sponsors which are yourprime source of income.

Sponsors make you offerssolely based on your rating, charisma and your PR withrating having the most effectin this regard. Winning officialraces and finishing high up inthe ranking of official races isthe quickest way to earngood rating, which in turnearns you higher sponsoroffers. This is the core of MRC.This then enables you to trainyour driver quicker, helping togain even more rating pointsand so on.

If you’re a novice I’drecommend trying an F3national series, when you feelyou’ve conquered it (no needto get stuck there until you winit), try a bigger series like an F3continental series or an F3regional series. All of this isassuming you have enoughrating and money to allowyou to take part in such aseries. At the end of eachseason a rich uncle who reallywants you to succeed (whomyou never get to meetcoincidentally) gives you 500kfor the following season. Thiswill help you meet entrancefee into the above mentionedseries, as long as you have therating to go with it!

Please Take Note: The article abovecontains advice from anexperienced manager within thegame and is not in any way anofficial statement from MRC’screators/developers! 15
