Daily Journal

• January 23, 2009 - Day 1

Today my wonderful language arts teacher gave me a project with a fairly good reputation. This project may be fun to do, but it is also supposed to be handed in a day before my birthday: ( This project will open up my class’s eyes to the great things people sit down and do for others- making blankets for the ill. I am going to get this project done early and not stress out on the last week. I may even call up Zack Fowler whom did this project last year and see if he has advice about the construction of this project. From what I have heard, the Linus Project is a fun project that affects the community along with the class. I should have a good time helping others while getting a project done.

• January 24, 2009 - Day 2

– Today I could not get to the Linus project as much as I would have liked to. I was at my dads for all of today and did not get time for the project. I had many activities to accomplish but during the time of these activities, I was able to plan out projects in my head. I was able to create a graphic organizer in my mind, so finding information and knowing what to look for was much easier. This project has proven tough like all others, yet this project seems to have a certain quality that makes it easier and quicker to do. Maybe that quality was from the selflessness or altruism that the project shows. Helping others seems to prove worth the trouble. I need to get this project done with and enjoy a few days without a project. Goodness knows I need it.

Daily Journal

• January 25, 2009 - Day 3

After going to church, I headed straight home. I got on my apple computer and looked up information on how to crochet on www.youtube.com and the www.google.com. I spent almost an hour trying to find info on how to crochet the edges of a blanket. With no luck, I started working on other parts of the project. This project has taken a lot of work to get little done. This is a fun project, however, still a project.

Daily Journal

• January 26, 2009 - Day 4

– Today was a terrible day for me as I suffered through school doused with sleepiness. The bell rang and school ended then it was off to Dunn Middle School to partake in a basketball game, which we sadly fell in defeat. I was sad, and down in the dumps when I started to crochet which calmed me down and got schoolwork done. The Linus Project has been invigorating and intriguing. I have just begun this long project and I am sure that it will be challenging, but I am looking forward to it. My overall feelings for this project today is satisfaction- good day (for the project)

Daily Journal

• January 27, 2009 - Day 5

– A stomach bug found its way into my body this morning leaving me feeling terrible. The energy was drained completely out of my body and yet I found time to sit down and crochet. As cheesy as this may sound, when I started crocheting, I forgot about my stomach and everything around me and just crocheted while time stood still. Crocheting is a great way to settle nerves and also gets you away from your worries and troubles. I can see that crocheting is becoming much easier and I am more eager to do it. Not only does crocheting help ones state of mind out, but it is easy enough to get accomplished while watching television. I have not yet started other parts of my project in detail but have a general conception of what I will do and how I will do it. This project is living up to expectations, and can simply become my favorite language arts project I have done.

Daily Journal

• January 28, 2009 - Day 6

– I am having a good time with this project. I am reading a lot of touching stories and experiences where the linus project has lent a helping hand. The reports are going to take a little longer than I expected though. I need to start on the graphic organizers as quick as I can. Without the organizers, these essays will take a lot longer than the should. The crocheting has become sort of like second nature. Just yesterday I crocheted while having a conversation with my mom. We were on the way home from the doctors due to my stomach virus. I was crocheting and did not even notice I was multitasking.

Daily Journal

• January 29, 2009 - Day 7

This project is really opening my eyes. I am reading about how project Linus changes peoples lives and comforts them. I just read a story about a kid who watched his friend get shot to death and wouldn’t sleep, shower, or change for days. Yet when he received a blanket, he went back to his normal ways because of the support and love he felt when getting a blanket. This organization is really impressing me and showing me that life is not as good as I have it all the time. Sometimes God throws you a curveball and you strikeout. I am enjoying this project and the experiences it is teaching me.

For everyone looking at these pictures, my eyes seem to pop out in two pictures because after taking red eye out of them, my eyes were left looking…bizarre
