We live here

RADZIONKÓWIt’s a town in Silesia in southern Poland, near Katowice. Borders

on the Upper Silesian Metropolitan Union - metropolis

with the population of 2 millions. Located in the Silesian

Highlands. It is situated in the Silesian Voivodeship since its

formation in 1999, previously in Katowice Voivodeship, and

before then, of the Autonomous Silesian Voivodeship. Radzionków

is one of the towns of the 2,7 million conurbation - Katowice urban area. The population of

the town is 17,163

HISTORYDuring the Second World War Radzionków belongs to Theird Reich. People who lived here were hitting to Internment camp, Katyń or Twera. After that, it was in Poland again. In 1951 got back city

rights and then was build Culture Center, pool on the ‘Księża Góra Park’ and High school. In 1975 Radzionków was included to Bytom

but in 1998 again was independent community Radzionków.

The mayor of Radzionków is Gabriel Tobor.He acts as mayor since 2006.

He’s a very good and helpful person, so he’s done a lot of great things for our

city e.g:- repaired streets

- built a new sports hall and field- made a skate park

- modernized a ‘Księża Góra Park’ etc.

EDUCATION IN RADZIONKÓW

Youth can learn here from kindergarten to univesity:

-Kindergartens (eg.: Przedszkole „pod Topolą”),- Primary schools (eg.: SP. 1 im. Adama Mickiewicza),- Lower secondary schools (eg.: Gimnazjum im. Ojca Ludwika Wrodarczyka),- High schools (eg.: Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. Powstańców Śląskich),- University (Górnośląska Wyższa Szkoła Handlowa).Thanks that we have so many schools, people

who live here may improve their skills and knowledge, beside that they also may improve

their passions, because we have ‘Centrum Kultury Karolinka’.

„CENTRUM KULTURY KAROLINKA” – Culture Center

Thanks that center people in every age may develop their talents. In ‘Karolinka’ take place a lot of different classes: dance, drama, instruments, table tennis, chess,

‘Harfa’ chour. The most famous dance team is ‘Mały

Śląsk’ which propagate our silesian culture and

customs.

„MAŁY ŚLĄSK”‘Mały Śląsk’ is famous on all over the world. It’s

created by young, talented people, who travel to many different countries, where they show our

culture. It’s a laureate of many prizes.

SPORT IN OUR TOWN

Government in Radzionków makes possible to spend time in very activity way.

Few months ago, sport hall’s bulding has finished. Now, young people, mostly children can practise there. And the most

imoprtant thing- our football team has got training at hall on huge pitch. Beside that, in Rojca ‘Sokół Rojca Team’ also has got training. It’s created by young girls with sport passion- volleyball

RUCH RADZIONKÓW – SPORT CLUB

It’s a pride of Radzionków, which takes place since 1919 and is created by people who love playing football. Now they belong to 1st ligue, but it’s not the most important

achivement, because several yers ago they were in Extraclass. We have our own stadium, but it’s in Bytom. Children, who want attached to ‘Ruch’ may do it when

they’re only 7 years old. We’ve got very talented socers, thanks them our team wins almost in all matches.

RADZIONKÓW FORMERLY

Formerly, Radzionków was a small village, with some small shops, smith, and baker’s. The most important

place, was a Sant Wojciech church. Streets was pavement and  leaky. You couldn’t see as many cars as today, that’s why Radzionków was silent and quiet. But maybe a little

bit boring.

RADZIONKÓW TODAYToday we’ve got a lot of small shops and few shopping

centre. Our streets are bustling, but save.  Currently, take place many music and sports events here. We’ve got a

cinema, swimming pool, tennis court, ‘ice’-rink, (where you can skate even on summer) and many

different attractions. Spending time in Radzionków is an interesting and pleasant experience.
