My Visit to the United Arab EmiratesMarch 13 – 17, 2006
The United Arab Emirates is a modern country with population of 2.56 million people; 1.61 million are foreigners and 0.95 million are natives.
Abu Dhabi is the capital city of the UAE.
Before discovering oil fields, natives were very poor. Their main jobs are trading, fishing, crafting.
Another major city in the UAE is Dubai.
Burj al Arab in Dubai is one of the World’s best hotels. The cost of stay in this seven star hotel is more than $1,200 a night. The cost to
tour the hotel is $100.

shows. I was watching this fashion show from Abu Dhabi’s mall- second floor.

middle of the lot- like the one you see here.

Things that caught my attention:UAE Hospitals have Crescent emblem instead
of Red Cross.
Things that caught my attention: Although there is no snow, they put the windshield wipers up
overnight so the wipers don’t stick to the glass.
Things that caught my attention: The bathroom in the hotel that I stayed in has double toilets. One is for you to clean yourself with paper toilet and the
other is for you to clean yourself with water.
Things that sound funny: The name of this supermarket is the Emirates supermarket. I entered
the market and I found it is a very tiny place to shop.
Things that sound funny: Translation of this cafe is the Midget Café’. I entered the café’ and found all normal and big people. No midgets were found
inside.
Things that are funny: This is supposed to be a vegetarian fast food restaurant, but I saw a great big
cone of meat on a stick.
Things that sounds funny: The Joker Saloon- funny name.
Things that are funny: The bullet restaurant is under construction.
Things that are funny: This is a funny photo from the old days in the Emirates and before
