Under Drivers A Bose centralized, 8 channel, high performance Power side IP Amplifier with active equalization network and compression circuitry. Amplifier also uses noise compensation technology.
Also In I.P. Radio Head Unit For Radio unit service please contact the Radio Manufacturer.
Radio Supplier - H/U with Navi XANAVI ( Audio supplied by Clarion to XANAVI) H/U without Navi Panasonic The active equalization network takes into account the absorptive and reflective characteristics of seats, windshield, seat coverings, instrument panel and door shapes, speaker placement, and occupant placement. To achieve the best performance of the sound system all tone controls should be set at the detent position
Service: Service will be limited to the replacement of the component parts listed in the “System Configuration and Service Recommendation”, found later in this technical information package. No internal amplifier repair or speaker repair is permitted in the field. Because of the uniqueness in the custom acoustics of the equalization network, no external customer modifications are recommended or sanctioned (I.E. graphic equalizers, additional sub-woofers, or additional power amplification). Any modifications to the system will void the warranty of the system components. The enclosed technical and diagnostic information should serve as adequate source material for the creation of dealer technical service information materials. If any additional information is required, please direct inquiries to the attention of:

PROCEDURAL SUGGESTIONS & HINTSWHOLE SYSTEM APPEARS DEAD O O O F •Look for problem centered around radio Head (Radio Head Functions DO NOT Operate/Luminate)
WHOLE SYSTEM APPEARS DEAD-HOWEVER... OX O O XOF O F F •Ensure Amp connector is plugged into Amp (Radio Head Functions SEEM to be OK) •Amp will not turn on without switched B+ supplied
•Check Amp B+ and Ground circuits
RADIO LOOSES MEMORY PRESETS O O F •Radio Head must have uniterupted B+ to maintain Memory Settings
POP NOISE WHEN RADIO IS TURNED ON OR OFF V FX F F •Check if Amp is ON when Radio is OFF•Check Radio for Noisy Power Up/Down Try substitute known good Radio unit
NO SOUND FROM ONE CHANNEL-DEAD OX OX F F F F F F F •Verify Condition w/ Fader and balance Ctrls (All other channels sound OK) GV GV * Check audio wiring for the speaker
SF SFREDUCED SOUND FROM ONE CHANNEL OX OX F F F F F F F •Check for disconnected speaker connector
FH GV and/or open circuit at the speakerSF
ATTENUATED SOUND FROM ONE CHANNEL HRF HRF F F F F F F F •Verify condition w/ Fader and balance Ctrls•Check for High resistance connections
DISTORTED SOUND FROM ONE CHANNEL F F F F F F F •Check for loose trim panels or associated (Buzzing, Scratchy, or Raspy sound) local assemblies or harnesses & connectors
•Switch speaker to opposite channel, if prblm moves w/ speaker, replace speaker.•Try known good Bose Power Amp.•Try known good Radio Unit
NO SOUND FROM COMPLEMENTARY CHANNELS OX F •Verify condition with Radio Balance Control (Output IC configurations) GV •One of the Amp's output IC's most likely Channel 1, 2, 3 & 4 SF have shut down. Check for a wiring problem Channel 5 & 6 before replacing the Bose AmplifierChannel 7 & 8
REDUCED SOUND QUALITY ON MULTIPLE H H HRG HR F F •Substitute a known good radio unit CHANNELS OR POOR OVERALL SOUND (-)Sh •Check for loose trim panels or associated ON WHOLE SYSTEM local assemblies or harnesses & connectors
•Check polarity of circuits in concern •Check for loose conections & corrosion Use "Reduced Sound Quality" Chart
NOISE AND INTERFERENCE H Sh(-)H HF F F •Check for proper suppression @ noise source (Switch pops, ignition, and alternator •Check proximity of wiring to noise source
•Check for open audio shielding

Poor Radio Reception
Insufficient radio transmission for vehicle location.
Compare to another vehicle.
If signal is weak
ensure proper
antenna connections
Antenna wire
shielding should be at
ground potential
If signal is sufficient at
radio try changing radio unit.
The system consists of one main 8 channel amplifier.
For switching noises:
Determine which speaker noises are coming from.Substitute known "quiet" device for the noisy device. If condition is corrected replace device.
If noise is heard in all modes (AM,FM,CD) check wire harness to ensure proper connections. If only with AM or FM ensure antenna circuit is ok per antenna test page.
In connectors (amp & radio) check connector terminals may be loose or bent over. Shake connector while powered for intermittent problems.
Check antenna measurements according to antenna diagram. If possible connect a known good antenna to test.
Note that the amplifier requires both a battery voltage and a SW B+ voltage for the amplifier to turn on - Make sure both voltages are present.
See also, "No Audio" chart
For one distorted channel try swapping speakers to confirm defective part.
Defective Speaker
Defective Amplifier
Connector Damaged or Loose
Damaged Wire Harness
Antenna Circuit Issues
Measure speaker wires for correct resistance (see system layout diagram page.)
If speaker is presumed defective try swapping with a known good speaker.
Also check for creases in cone or surround, replace if creased.
If single speaker defective check wires going to suspect speaker for damage to insulation. If possible disconnect both ends of harness and measure resistance. (try flexing harness while measuring)If radio does not turn on check power (B+ & ground) connections at amp and radio, also checking switched B+. B+ should be 14V with ignition on.
Thermal intermittent problems may take several minutes to occur. To reproduce try playing audio system at loud volumes for several minutes.
Note whether the problem occurs in all radio modes (AM-FM-CD)
If possible measure signal strength or look for "stereo" indicator in display.
Front IP’s should read approximately 4 ohms across speakers and open to ground
Front & Rear Door’s should read approximately 2 ohms across speakers and open to ground
Rear Liftgate should read approximately 4 ohms across speakers and open to ground
