Grew up in Shan State small rural city called Moe Byel between
loi kaw and inn lay. Didn't grow up in rich family. Have 7 siblings
fa-ther just a teacher and mother regular working wife who sells
foods at school and opens bookstore to support all the kids. Never
being spoiled by parents on getting the things I want or being
rewarded for doing great at school. I grew up watching kids at my
age being spoiled by their parents, but since I didn't have that
opportunity given by parents, my parents told me to be satisfied
with what you have, and if you want some-thing you have to work
hard to earn it. My parents never have to tell me to do well in
school, study, or do homework. Setting my parents and my eldest
sister as my role model, I knew I have to work hard and have to
train my mind well not to lose track from working toward my goals.
There were many distractions that could lead me to become high
school or college drop off, but know-ing my life wasn't easy, I
need to keep focus on doing what I needed to do to get to where I
want. What if when my parents are gone,who is going to support me?
Even if I get lucky by getting support from someone, it isn't free.
I gotta pay back one way or another. I don't want to be for the
rest of my life depending on someone just to live life. All those
thoughts motivated and encouraged me to remain focused to work
hard. I always wanted to be independent person, and I believe it's
a shame when you are still depending on your parents for financial
sup-ports in your mid 20's unless you have disabilities that
hindered you from finding your own money. There is different
between mote poe thoung and sarr sayar nay sayar ma shi lo asking
for rents or car payments. Even worst if you are a man and you
cannot make enough money to cover for your own expanses. Our
parents have already worked hard enough to raised us into our 20's.
If anything, if we truly love our parents, we should be taking care
of them. I know it's hard to take care of another person but if you
cannot take care of them, you shouldn't be asking money assis-tant
from them or giving your problems to solve for you. That's the
least we can do for them is not to make them worry for our future.
I believe for young generations like us to be successful, we need
to keep working on ourself for improvement and we should never be
settled for less. We should always be a good role model for our
friends, our siblings, younger generations, and our future
children. For us to feel motivated, we have to surround ourselves
with people who are educated with systematic and realistic plans
for their fu-ture, friends who can brings something on the table
for us to learn things that could be beneficial for life, people
who wouldn't push or influence us to do things that could delay or
ruin plans for better future. I am always on guard when making
friends. I would never be discriminating others, but I am always
aware of those who does me good or bad. LA is such an eyes opener
for me and I am blessed to be surrounded by beautiful friends who
always look after me as their sister/brother lol. Moving to LA by
myself is just an adventure for me. Went through tough time not
able to land a job for a whole year! Looking back what I have been
through, I am stronger and better than then. I just want someone to
see me as inspiring and they would like me, continued to work hard
to upgrade their lives by going through col-lege successfully. It's
rewarding feeling once you accomplished your goal. No matter where
life takes you, never back down. Currently I am working to go back
to school at university of Phoe-nix for MSN education. It wouldn't
be easy working night shift, full-time, and stressful nursing job,
but it will be another challenge that I set for myself.
