Burgundian in style. Medium body. Earthy, cherry bouquet with some spice.
Burgundian in style. Uses organic farming methods. Very complex. Light redcolour. The bouquet has earthiness, coffee, and cherry. Good balance andcomplexity on the palate.
Joint venture between Paul Bouchard of Burgundy and South Africanwinemaker Peter Finlayson. Medium red colour. Bouquet shows herbalnotes and some light earthiness. Flavours with some herb, oak and cherrynotes.
Pale straw colour. It has pleasant acidity. There are flavours of peach, limeand melon.
Verdelho grape is a native of Portugal. Pale straw in appearance, with ahoneydew melon aroma. Taste of melon and apple. Nice light acidity.
Marsanne grape is originally from Southern France and is a spicy grape.Aromas were of honeysuckle and lychee. Tastes of tropical fruit, some greenapple with a clove/nutmeg spice finish.
Medium yellow colour with some pink tinge. Note this grape does have pinkin it's skin. Bouquet has some oak and aromas of peach and other sweetfruits. Low acidity, has some sweetness, and flavours of peach, lime andsome spice.
Bouquet was oaky (although it is unoaked), with dillweed, grassy and candyon the nose. Oaky and lemony flavours.
Light red appearance. Bouquet was light and of red fruits. Strong tannins,and a short length. Some sweet fruit flavours.
This wine is big and bold. The colour is inky dark. It has a eucalyptus,
savory, chocolate and vanilla bouquet (The vanilla coming from aging in allAmerican oak barrels). The flavours are of oak, vanilla and black cherry witha long finsih and smooth tannins.
Medium red in colour. Bouquet has oak, plums and a hint of eucalyptus. Onthe palate there are ripe red fruits, good tannins, some sweetness andmaybe some chalkiness.
CabernetSauvignon
The grapes come from 6 different regions of Australia. This wine was inkydark, leaving long tears on the sides of the glass. The bouquet showed someoak from both French and American barrels along with blackcurrant aroma.Smooth tannins. Some chalkiness, oak and spice on the palate.
Pale straw colour with light fragrances of peach and flowers and a sweet,peachy finish on the palate.
Organic. Pale straw appearance. Bouquet had citrus, and some oak, andlight toastiness. Light citrus, pineapple and mango flavours. Some malolactic
fermentation giving a rich mouthfeel.
CabernetSauvignon
Organic. Deep red appearance. Bouquet oak, leafiness and licorice. Licoriceflavour continued onto the palate along with dark fruit and sour cherry. Thetannins were not overly strong.
Vina Lomas deCauquenes
The vines are 80-105 years old. The wine had a camphor or licqoricebouquet, along with sour cherry. The cherry flavour continued on the palate.
Cabernet /Carmenere
Ruby purple in appearance. Bouquet of oranges, aftershave, wood smoke,autumn forest and spice. This wine was sweet and round on the palate.
Produced with the biodynamic method. BIG fruit. Ruby red in the glass.Cedar, oak, cherries, plums and black current aromas. Flavours of sweetcherries, vanilla and cedar on the palate. A full-bodied, yet elegant wine.
CabernetSauvignon
Produced with the biodynamic method. Ruby purple in the glass. Bouquethad cherries, sweet oak, nutmeg and cinnamon. Flavours of dark fruit andvanilla. Medium tannins. Ready to drink.
Brickish appearance. The bouquet was of black tea, as well as a dustiness.Very smooth with a medium body. Some cherry flavours.
Still very youthful, but could afford 8 years of aging potential. This wine waspurple in the glass. The bouquet had capsicum, cherries, raspberries andfloral notes. Medium tannins and sour cherry flavours.
Pinot Noir /Chardonnay
Light/medium red in colour. Herbaceous, smoky, sausage aromas. Tanninswere a bit harsh. Flavours of red fruits and a hit of banana.
Very deep red in appearance. Bouquet was very fragrant, with dark redfruits, oak, tar and cocolate. Very round mouthfeel, with some sweetness.There was also some chocolate, coffee and spicy flavours. Very long length.
The wine had a brown appearance with a brickish edge. The wine had a verypronounced pruney / porty aroma. The portiness continued on the palate,along with red fruits. it did have a nice mouthfeel and long finish.
A well aged, elegant wine. Medium red appearance with a bit of a brickishedge to show it's age. Aromas of prunes, plums and cinnamon. The winewas very soft with some sweeetness. There was also plummy, gamey andtarry flavours.
RubyCabernet /Merlot
Medium red appearance and a dusty nose. There was some spice to thiswine, along with fruity flavours, which came from the Merlot.
CabernetSauvignon
Deep red in appearance. It had a complex bouquet, with herbacious, green
peppers and smokiness. This wine had very little fruit flavour. The wine wastannic with some bitterness.
This wine was purple in the glass, very extracted. The bouquet was verycomplex. Early on there was a barnyard aroma, but as the wine aired, thisaroma faded and one then was treated to violet, coffee, sweet, and smokyaromas. One tasted red cherries, some spiciness, and chocolate. Thetannins were supple and the oak well integrated.
Steen is the Afrikaan's word for the Chenin Blanc grape. "Op Hout" means"on wood". This wine was the first Chenin Blanc to be oaked in South Africa.The wine was light bodied, had a smooth mouthfeel, and some nice acidity.There was some oak and waxiness on the nose.
Hamilton RussellVineyards Light red in appearance. Big bouquet, with coffee, tar, cherries, iodine andslate. Medium length, with savory, earthy, coffee, and cherry flavours.

Ruste en Vrede means "Rest and Peace" or "Peace and Quiet". Lovely deepred colour in the glass. Aroma was very fruity, with tones of wet leather andoak. Sweet entry upon tasting followed through with long length and anacidic finish. Spiciness and dark fruit flavours.

Aromas of classic cedar and cassis. As well there was some green pepperand dustiness. Upon tasting, there were rich fruits, and big tannins.
Frans MalanReserve
Simonsig means "in sight of Simonsburg Mountain". Aromas of banana, oak,dark fruit, chocolate, and prunes. Banana aroma is a characteristic of thePinotage grape. Medium tannins, some spiciness, and flavours of cherriesand chocolate.
Deep red with big legs. On the nose there was dark fruit, mint and somesweetness, similar to what you would get with an Australian shiraz. The winehad a sweet entry, but also had some firm tannins and ended a bitastringent. There were coffee and mint flavours.
Wonderful purple hue in the glass. The bouquet was varied with coffee,chocolate, savory and biscuity. Good length and acidity. There were sweet,savory coffee and dark fruit flavours.
BoekenhoutskloofEstate
Extracted reddish purple colour in the glass. Nose was fruity, perfumy andminty. Nice round mouthfeel. Oak was not overpowering. There was somespiciness, dark fruit, chocolate and coffee flavours.
SauvignonBlanc
Part of the first vineyard in South Africa. Wine depends on the grapes beingaffected by the botrytis cinerea fungus. This only occurs in years when it iscool and damp during the harvest. Brilliant orangey hue in the glass.Wonderful apricot, honey and botrytis (honeysuckle) aromas. Good acidity tokeep the wine refreshing and not cloyingly sweet. Flavours of oak, honey,apricot and marmalade.
Wonderful cherries and vanilla aroma and flavour. The vanilla coming fromaging the wine in American oak.
SauvignonBlanc
Silky smooth, with good acidity to balance the sugar. It had a honeyed noseand flavour.

Pronounced peach and melon aroma and flavour. Good acidity andpronounced fruit.

Huge flowery bouquet. No typical Gewurztraminer aromas or flavours here.Ginger, cloves and cinnamon flavours, without being overbearing.
This wine was purposely oxidized giving it it's dark reddish browncolouration. Wonderful plum pudding aroma and flavour.
Late HarvestPineau
Dusty aroma and a faint smell of nail polish, which is one of the aromasknown for Pinotage. It was quite hot on the tongue.
Light pinkish in the glass. Excellent balance with all the elements of fruit,brandy, sugar, oak and acidity. A bit of maderized aroma and oak and hadsome coffee/toffee flavour.
Very grapey aroma with some leather. It had a deep, opaque purple colourwhich coated the glass when it was swirled. Good acidity and tannin.
Some brickish colour on the edges of the glass. Some spicy, leathery andchocolate notes.
Very fruity bouquet with lots of fruit and cherries in the taste. It was a veryeasy to drink wine with no tannic aftertaste.

A vintage champagne-type wine. Classic blend of 50% chardonnay and 50%pinot noir. Pleasant biscuity aroma, leading to a leesy creaminess taste withfine bubbles.

The top Semillon in South Africa. Aged in Burgundian oak. Some SauvignonBlanc added to it. The colour has golden intensity. Bouquet has apricot,lanolin, butterscoth and vanilla. Smooth mouthfeel. Light acidity andoakieness, accompanied with a milkiness or waxiness.

Inky dark. It coated the glass when it was swirled. The bouquet was of oakand cherry. Cherry flavour continued through on the palate. This was a veryfruity, juicey wine with good tannin.

Medium red in the glass. Bouquet was of cherries and light oak. This was avery smooth wine, with cherry and cedar/pencil shavings flavours.
Medium red appearance. The bouquet was very perfumy. Some indicatedconfectionary and peppermint candy. The taste was light, with a lingeringcherry aftertaste.

Slight rose tinge from the Pinot Noir grape. It had light acidity with biscuitaroma. It had a nice long length.
Medium yellow appearance. Bouquet was of lanolin and citrus. On thepalate, the citrus flavour continued. The wine was very light in flavour.
This wine was almost syrupy when it was poured from the bottle. The winehad big legs in the wine glass, indicating a high alcohol content. The tastewas creamy and oaky.
Light red in appearance with a slight purple shade. Bouquet showedstrawberries, raspberries and plums. Soft tannins, a cherry aftertaste and along finish.
Light red in appearance, with a bit of orangy or pink edges. Herbaceous,spice and forest floor aromas. Cherry flavour, with light acidity that you felt atthe back of your tongue. Long finish.

Orangy brown appearance, with a slight greenish edge. Bouquet was ofspices like cinnamon, and also nutty and caramel aromas. There were manyfruity, spicy flavours to enjoy on the palate.
Deep red in colour. It had aromas of vanilla and ecalyptus. There werestrong tannins. There was nice spice and black cherry flavours.

Deep purple colour. It had a very intense aromas of sausage, smokiness,menthol and cherries. Good tannins with some sweetness.

Deeply coloured, purple. Caramel, vanilla, chocolate and cherry aromas. Bigmouthfeel to this wine. Tannins were not overpowering.

Many aromas, such as cedar, coffee, dark fruit and violet (which I think isfrom the Petit Verdot). This wine was spicy and had flavours of blackberriesand cherries, with some sweetness. Tannins were not too strong. A wellintegrated wine.
Dusty, cedar, chocolate and dark fruit aromas. Very smooth with a goodmouthfeel and long length. Flavours of cherries and blackberries.
SauvignonBlanc
Fresh acidity and flavours of melon, apple, grass, and hints of mineral. It hada long finish with a lush mouthfeel.
Notes of petrol, apple, hints of raisin and kiwi and finishing dry with a freshacidity.
Medium bodied with a wonderful, slightly oily texture and showed peach,lime and green apple notes.
Flavours of wild strawberry, Bing cherry, backed by a lightly spicy finish withmoderate acidity.
Expressive on the nose and showy on the palate with notes of cherry,strawberry and hay. There were soft integrated tannins and acidity giving awonderful structure to this wine
Tight up front with spicy, leathery and earthy flavours backed by subtlecherry notes. It had a medium body with noticeable tannins. Re-tried laterand it opened up showing great red berry fruit and subtle earth.

Flavours of bell pepper, cherry, hints of blackberry and eucalyptus. A lighterstyle wine with soft acidity and moderate tannin

Oak and a lanolin bouquet to this wine. Very round mouthfeel, along withsome spiciness and oak. Long finish.

Shiraz /CabernetSauvignon
This wine had tomato, oak, vegetal aromas. The flavours were of cherry andleather. It had low tannins and a long finish.
Deep purple coloured. Bouquet had some of the signature banana andacetone aromas. Flavours of dark cherries, spice and some banana. Thewine still was a bit tannic.
Very deeply coloured and all had long finishes. Capsicum, plum and oakyaromas. On the palate, the plum flavour continued. The wine had softtannins and a round mouthfeel.
CabernetSauvignon
Some brickish tinge was visible at the end of the glass. Wine had oak,leather, plum, capsicum, and earthy aromas. Sweet cherry flavour. Not verytannic, but it was noted that the acid level was going up, due to it's age.
Deep purple in appearance. It had earthy, barnyard aromas. This is a verysmooth wine. There was some sweetness and flavour of cherries. The winehad soft tannins as it underwent malolactic fermentation.
Very deep red to purple. Bouquet of plum, spice, chocolate and oak. Darkcherries and cracked black pepper flavour. Firm tannins and a bit ofsweetness.
Lighter aroma, with some raspberry and metal. The wine had a soft, lightbody, with some tannins and a bit astringent.
A big wine. The bouquet was very complex with wild red berries, smokiness,some oak, and minerality. On the palate one tasted black cherries andpepper.

Medium cherry red appearance in the glass. It had a bouquet that wasflowery with some light cherries. Smooth on the palate, continuing withcherry flavours.
A wonderful bouquet with hints of violets, cherry and candy. On the palatethere was nice acidity and smooth tannins. Cherry and strawberry flavours.
Very aromatic with aromas of mocha and dark cherries. The flavour ofcherries carried to the palate. Medium tannins and length.
Showed typical bright cirtrus flavour with some tarriness on the bouquet. Thewine had a very smooth mouthfeel with just the right amount of acidity.
Medium straw appearance. The bouquet was of oak and beeswax. Oak andspice followed on the palate

Lemon in colour. It had a big herbal, gooseberry bouquet. There was highacidity with gooseberry and citrus flavours. A wonderful bone dry sauv blanc.
Deep lemon in colour. Petrol, citrus, burnt match, and apple aromas. On thepalate it had a nice round mouthfeel, with an apple and"oaky" flavours. Theoakiness is a characteristic of the semillon grape that evolves over time in
the bottle.
Aromatic with pear, tropical fruit, stone fruit and perfumy aromas. On thepalate it had nice fruit and light acidity on the finish.
True to being an aged riesling wine, this one was golden in appearance aswell as the characteristic petrol aroma. There was as well as some applearoma. There were flavours of oak, apple, citrus and petrol, and finished dry.
This is a top tier chardonnay from Matua. This wine had melon, pear, sweetspices, butter, oak and vanilla aromas. It had a round mouthfeel, with somespice, oak and apple flavours, and a long finish.
Very light red appearance. Bouquet was primarily of strawberries andraspberries, typical of many New Zealand Pinot Noirs. It had a light body,with strawberry and red cherry flavours.

Had a wide range of peachy, spicy and flowery notes. The spiciness andpeachiness continued on the palate. It was a lighter bodied Vouvray and alsohad a bit of residual sugar.
