N-light CONNECT & DALI......Digital Addressable Lighting Interface (DALI) is an open communication protocol developed by leading manufacturers within the lighting industry and defined under international standard IEC 62386.

Originally developed for controllable lighting ballasts, the DALI protocol now encompasses a wide range of intelligent lighting technologies including the particular requirements for emergency lighting.

DALI provides a simple, reliable and extremely robust means of communication for lighting systems whilst offering maximum flexibility and convenience for system designers, installers and end users.

As an active member of the DALI marketing working group,Mackwell works alongside some of the leading companies in the lighting industry to promote the standard. Mackwell is also represented on the technical working group which allows us to actively affect and enhance the standard with new developments and initiatives. Through these memberships, Mackwell has established itself within the community as world leaders in DALI emergency lighting and forged global partnerships with leading lighting manufacturers.

Why N-light CONNECT...

SIMPLE WIRING

No specialised data cable or tools are required for field wiring to luminaires. The low data rate and high interference immunity of the DALI specification allows standard mains cable to be used (for example 5-core cable). The DALI standard recommends Belden 8471 2 core mains rated twisted pair cable for up to 300m runs.

MULTIPLE TOPOLOGIES

N-light CONNECT allows series, star or mixed connection topologies to be used for maximum flexibility in DALI system design and installation. N-light CONNECT additionally specifies the optional feature within the DALI specification for polarity-free connection of data wires, thereby minimising the chances of wiring errors.

FLEXIBLE GROUP CONTROL

As well as being addressed individually or altogether (broadcast), every device on the DALI system may belong to any of up to 16 group assignments. Group assignments can be used to apply emergency tests to predefined areas of a building, and can be re-configured at any time, for example, to accommodate changes in building usage without the need for re-wiring.

DETAILED STATUS REPORTING

N-light CONNECT provides a comprehensive picture of the historical and real-time status of the emergency lighting installation. Automatic status notifications are logged by the system whenever a fault or test failure is detected that could compromise the safety of the system. A full record of system status is available for at any time.

COMPLIANT FOR EMERGENCY LIGHTING

International and national legislation and guidelines dictate that it is essential for emergency lighting to be specified, installed and maintained correctly.

N-light CONNECT is designed to work with Mackwell’s range of DALI emergency products to provide a straightforward route to compliance for the system designer with safety being the number one priority.

SAFETY BY DEFAULT

As well as conforming to the DALI requirements of IEC 62386, all Mackwell DALI emergency products incorporate AutoTest as standard. This ensures that emergency luminaires adopt a default self-test programme complying with the requirements of IEC 62034 until a DALI bus is connected and a valid command is received.
