Singapore’s Approach Towards Superior Construction Productivity
17
Welcome to DfMA Concept

To raise construction productivity and
fundamentally change the design and
construction processes, BCA
encourages the industry to embrace
the concept of Design for
Manufacturing and Assembly
(DfMA), where construction is
designed such that as much work
may be done offsite in a controlled
manufacturing environment as
possible.

PPVC (Prefabricated Prefinished Volumetric Construction)
23
What is PPVC?
PPVC? – Prefabricated Prefinished Volumetric Construction
PPVC involves the assembly of whole rooms / units, complete with
internal finishes, fixtures & fittings, that are produced offsite and
installed onsite in a Lego like manner.

What is PPVC?
25
Conclusion
26
Singapore Construction is Evolving with DfMA
Traditional method of construction
is labour intensive and time
consuming
Productivity needs to be
considered upfront in design
DfMA paves the way for superior
construction productivity
PPVC is expected to become the
new norm in Singapore
construction
