SAP Best Practices for Enterprise Portal -General Settings: Installation Guide

1 OverviewThis guide helps you perform the following activities:

• Create Content for Your Portal

• Create Users

• Map Users to Roles

• User Management

• Import portal content including Enterprise Portal Archive (EPA) Objects and Package(PKG) objects.

2 Preparation

2.1 Purpose

This installation guide contains the general settings for SAP Best Practices for Enterprise Portal.

2.2 Prerequisites

• The SAP NetWeaver Portal 2004s or higher is installed.

• You have Administrator rights.

• Refer to N03: Connectivity for connecting to BSP and BEx systems.

3 Installation

3.1 Create Content for Your Portal

Use

You can create the following kinds of content for your Portal:

• iViews

• Pages

• Worksets

• Roles

You can also assign iViews to pages, pages to worksets, and worksets to roles.

Prerequisites

Log on to the SAP NetWeaver Portal with Administrator rights, and create a folder to store your documents.

Procedure

3.1.1 Creating Your Folder 

1. In your portal, navigate toContent Administration → Portal Content  Portal Content .

SAP NetWeaver Portal Content Administration→ Portal Content  Portal Content 

2. Right-click on Portal Content and choose New → Folder .

3. Enter the following values:

5. Repeat steps 1 to 4 to create folders under the MyFolder folder you just created. Create foldersfor iViews, Pages, Worksets, and Roles.

You should have a folder structure similar to the image below.

3.1.2 Creating iViews for new Portal Content

3.1.2.1 Creating a URL iView

1. Right-click on the iViews folder and choose New → iView . The iView Wizard displays.

2. Select iView template radio button.

3. Choose Next .

4. Select URL iView radio button.

8. In the Enter URL field, enter the following URL http://www.sap.com/company/press/

9. Choose Next .

Optionally, you can choose a smaller section of the webpage to display. To do this,before choosing Next , choose Browse/Capture. A new window displays. Choose theBrowse tab to preview a web site or navigate to the URL to be used as the contentsource for the iView. You can display the entire contents of the Web page or a portionof the Web page. To display a portion of the Web page that you want to display in theiView, choose the Capture tab. Return to the iView Wizard screen and chooseOK .

10. Select the Open for editing when wizard completes radio button.

11. Choose Finish.

12. Leave all default settings and choose Add .

13. In the Property Category drop list, choose Appearance – Size.

14. In Height Type, choose FULL_PAGE from the drop list.

15. Choose Save.

3.1.2.2 Creating an BEx Web Application iView

1. Right-click on the iViews folder, and choose New → iView . The iView Wizarddisplays.

2. Select iView template – create an iView from an existing iView template radiobutton.

3. Choose Next .

4. In the iView Wizard, select BEx Web Application iView radio button.

5. Choose Next .

6. Enter a name, iView ID and iView ID Prefix.

7. Choose Next.

8. Choose SAP BW2.x/3.x radio button from Version.

9. Choose Next .

10. Select the SAP BW system alias SAP_BW and in the BEx Web Application QueryString, copy the query id from the URL of your desired query from the string text &INFOCUBEonwards (for example, &INFOCUBE=0SD_C04&QUERY=0SD_C04_Q0001).

11. Choose Next .

If you do not have the URL for the query you wish to create an iView for, simply log intothe SAP BW system and launch the Query in the Web Browser. Select the query stringin the URL navigation bar by highlighting it and copying it. You can paste this into the

iView Wizard field, BEx Web Application Query String.

12. Select the Open for editing when Wizard completescheck box.

13. Choose Finish.

14. In the Property Category drop list, choose Appearance – Size.

15. Make modifications to the Attributes by changing Height Type to FULL_PAGE.

16. Choose Save.

17. Choose Preview to preview the iView.

Ensure your user is mapped to the SAP BW system already, or you will not be able tolaunch the query.

3.1.2.3 Creating an SAP R/3 iView

Create a Web GUI iView for SAP R3 in SAP EP

1. Right-click on the iViews folder and choose New → iView . The iView Wizard displays.

2. Choose New  iView .

3. Select iView template – create an iView from an existing iView template radio button.

4. Choose Next .

5. In the iView Wizard , select SAP Transaction iView radio button.

6. Choose Next .

7. Enter the following values:

iView ID Prefix  your company’s namespace such as,com.mycompany

8. Choose Next .

9. Select SAP GUI for HTML for the SAP GUI Type radio button.

10. Choose Next .

11. Select the SAP R3 system alias SAP_R3 and in the Transaction Code field, enter the desiredtransaction code, such as VA01.

12. Choose Next .

13. Select the Open for editing when Wizard completescheck box.

14. Choose Finish.

15. In the Property Category drop list, choose Appearance – Size.

16. Make modifications to the Attributes, Height Type to FULL_PAGE.

17. Choose Save.

18. Choose Preview to preview the iView.

Create a Win GUI iView for the SAP R3 in the SAP EP

1. Right-click on the iViews folder and choose New → iView . The iView Wizard displays.

2. Choose New  iView  

3. Select iView template – create an iView from an existing iView template radio button.

4. Choose Next .

5. In the iView Wizard , select SAP Transaction iView radio button.

6.  Choose Next .

7. Enter the following values:

13. Select the check box for Open for editing when Wizard completes.14. Choose Finish.

3.1.3 Creating your page for the iView you have created

 After you have created an iView, you need to assign the iView to a page.

1. Right-click on thePages folder to choose New → Page.

8. In Default Layout drop list, select 2 Columns (Wide: Narrow) as default.

9. Choose Next .

10. The Summary page displays.

11. Choose Finish.

12. Choose Open the object for editing radio button.

14. The Property Editor displays. In theProperty Category drop list, choose Appearance-Size.

15. In Height type, select FULL_PAGE.

16. Choose Save.

 

3.1.4 Adding an iView to Your Page

1. Double-click the My Page you created if it is not already open.2. Right-click on SAP News iView that you created and choose Add iView to Page → Delta Link.

3. Choose Portal Content → Content Provided by SAP → End User Content → Standard Portal Users → iViews.

4. Right-click on any of the iViews (for example,com.sap.km.iviews → News) and choose Add 

iView to Page → Delta Link.

5. Choose Save.

6. Select Page Layout . Drag and drop News in Column2 .

7. Choose Save.

3.1.5 Creating Your Workset

1. Right-click on the Worksets folder to choose New → Workset .

2. Enter the following values:

10. Scroll down to theEntry Point property and select the Yes radio button.

11. Choose Save.

3.1.5 Creating Your Role

1. Right-click on the Roles folder to choose New → Role.

2. Enter the following values:

5. Select the Open the object for editing radio button (system default).

6. Choose OK.

7. The Edit Role iView displays.

8. Right-click on My Workset (which you created earlier) and choose Add Workset to Role →Delta Link.

 

9. Choose Close.

3.2 User Administration

3.2.1 Overview

In this step, you can do the following activities:

• Create a new User 

• Create Groups

•  Add Roles to Users

•  Add Users to Groups

•  Add Roles to Groups

3.2.2 Create a New User 

1. Choose User Administration → Identity Management 

SAP NetWeaver Portal User Administration→Identity Management 

2. Choose the Create User button.

3. Enter values for the new user. For our example, we useinitial as the password .

4. Choose Save.

3.2.3 Add Role to User 

1. Go to User Administration  Identity Management  

SAP NetWeaver Portal User Administration→Identity Management 

2. Choose User in the Get drop list (default).

3. Enter the username you want to modify (i.e. bestpractices).

4. Choose the Go button. A list of matching results will appear.

5. Select the checkbox corresponding to your user.

6. Choose the Modify button.

7. Choose the Assigned Roles tab.

8. Enter the ID of the role you want to add in the Available Roles area. Wildcards * are OK. (i.e.

super*)9. Choose the checkbox corresponding to the role you want to add.

10. Choose the Add button in the area below the Available Roles area.

11. Choose Save.

Result

The role is now added to the user.

3.2.4 Create a New Group and Assign Roles to Group

Using groups in the SAP Enterprise Portal is another way to easily manage the content that isrolled out to a user. You can assign multiple roles to a group, and simplify your user managementprocess by assigning a group to a user, instead of assigning multiple roles to a user.

1. Go to User Administration  Identity Management  

SAP NetWeaver Portal User Administration→Identity Management 

2. Choose Group in the Get drop list.

3. Choose the Create Group button.

4. Enter a name for the Group in the Unique Name field.

5. Choose the Assigned Roles tab.

6. Enter the ID of the role you want to add in the Available Roles area. Wildcards * are OK. (i.e.super*)

7. Choose the checkbox corresponding to the role you want to add.

8. Choose the Add button in the area below the Available Roles area.

9. Repeat steps 3 to 9 to assign more roles to the group.

10. Choose Save.

Result

The new user group is created and roles are assigned to the group.

3.2.5 Add User to Group

1. Choose User Administration  Identity Management  SAP NetWeaver Portal User Administration→Identity Management 

2. Choose User in the dropdown menu (default).

3. Enter the username you want to modify (i.e. bestpractices).

4. Choose the Go button. A list of matching results will appear.

5. Select the checkbox corresponding to your user.

6. Choose the Modify button.

7. Choose the Assigned Groups tab.

8. Enter the ID of the role you want to add in the Available Roles area. Wildcards * are OK. (i.e.

super*)

9. Choose the checkbox corresponding to the role you want to add.

10. Choose the Add button in the area below the Available Roles area.

Result

3.2.6 Add Role to Group

1. Choose User Administration → Identity Management.

2. In the Get drop list, select Role.

3. Enter the role you want to add to the user (i.e., *com.mycompany.myrole*).

4. Choose Go.

5. A list of matching roles will appear in the table below.

6. Select the corresponding to the role you created.

7. Choose Modify button.

8. Select Assigned Groups tab.

9. Enter  * in the Get parameter of  Available Group.

10. Choose Go.

11. Select the Role and choose the Add button in the area below the Available Roles area.

12. Repeat steps 2 to 11 to assign more roles to the group.

13. Choose Save.

Result

The role is added to the group.

3.2.7 Testing the User You Created

1. Log off the SAP NetWeaver Portal.

2. Log in with your user and password.3. If all works correctly, you should see the role with workset navigation.

3.3 Import SAP Enterprise Portal Content Objects

SAP offers a number of Business Packages that contain predefined portal content modules for quick and user-oriented integration of information, applications and services into your enterpriseportal. SAP Portal Content Portfolio also provides the tools and information you need to build your own portal content. Visit the SAP Portal Content Portfolio athttps://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/developerareas/contentportfolio.

You can search for the desired portal content based on application type, industry, or user role.

 Additionally, SAP Best Practices provide Enterprise Portal Archive (EPA) files which contain role-

based portal content for SAP EP 7.0. These files delivered on the SAP Best Practices for Enterprise Portal CD, along with scenario-based instructions directing the user to the appropriateEPA file.

3.3.1 Types of Portal Content Files

SAP Business Packages and SAP Enterprise Portal content are currently delivered in two types of files. The method of importing the portal content will vary depending on the type of file.

• EPA file: Some Business Packages are delivered in an Enterprise Portal Archive file, andhave a file extension of .epa.

• PKG file: Some Business Packages are delivered in a Package file, and have a fileextension of .pkg .

3.3.2 Import a Business Package (.epa file) through the client

1. Download business package from iView Studio, or locate the desired SAP Best Practices EPAfile from the SAP Best Practices CD.

2. Copy the EPA file to a location on your computer (i.e.C:\bestpractices\)

3. Go to System Administration ® Transport ® Transport Packages ® Import.

4. Choose the Client radio button.

5. Choose the Browse button and browse to the location of your Business Package file.

6. Choose the Upload button.

7. If you wish to overwrite existing content, select All from the Content to be Overwritten drop list.

8. To start the import, choose Import . A new screen displays the status of the import.

9. Once the import is finished, you can check if the objects were correctly imported using the log.If the import was successful, the object is given status OK .

3.3.3 Import .pkg file (Package file)1. Download the desired business package fromiView Studio.

2. Copy the .PKG file to a folder on the portal’s server, such asC:\usr\sap\J2E\SYS\global\pcd\Import\upload.

3. Navigate to System Administration ® Transport® Transport Packages ® Import on the portal.

4. Choose the Server radio button.

5. Choose the Browse button and browse to the location of your PKG file.

 

6. Specify whether or not the existing content in the portal may be overwritten by the import.

7. To start the import, choose Import .

3.4 Import Users

Prerequisites

You have a text file to upload user data (If you do not have a file, you can use our Demo User file tobecome familiar to this process. Do not import the Demo Users into your production portal)

Procedure

1. Choose the following navigation option:

SAP NetWeaver Portal User Administration→Import 

2. Choose the Browse button.

3. Navigate to your file containing the user data and chooseOpen.

4. Select the Overwrite Existing Data checkbox to overwrite duplicate users.

5. Choose the Upload button. The results page will appear showing a table of successful andunsuccessful imported users.

Using SAP Best Practices Demo Users:

For the purpose of a fast prototype or pilot portal, SAP Best Practices has provided a demo user filewith demo users and passwords that have been assigned SAP Best Practices roles. These are notfor use in your production portal.

 After you have implemented your selected SAP Best Practices for EP scenarios, you can use therelevant demo users to preview the content quickly.

Refer to section 1.8.4 Demo Users in Building Block document N00_BB_Essential Information for more information about the demo user IDs, passwords, and assigned SAP Best Practices roles.

1. Using the above procedure, upload the demo user text file(s). These text files are deliveredunder, Enterprise Portal Building Blocks in the left-hand navigation menu on the SAP BestPractices for Enterprise Portal CD.

2. For each demo user, create a corresponding user in the SAP source system, such as SAPR/3, SAP BW, or mySAP CRM.

3. Map each demo user in the SAP Enterprise Portal to the user in the source system. If you areusing User ID and Password mapping to the source system from the portal (vs. Single Sign-On), refer to section 3.6 Mapping Users in the Portal in this document.

4. Log into the portal using the demo users and navigate the content, or use the BusinessProcess and Procedure delivered with your selected SAP Best Practice scenarios.

3.5 User Management Engine (UME)

3.5.1 Alternate Data Sources

The SAP User Management Engine (UME) allows you to connect to more than one data source sothat you can read user data from and write user data to multiple data sources in parallel.

The following process describes how to connect UME to the data sources that you wish to use for your application.

3.5.2 Defining LDAP for Alternate Data Source

Use

The user management component of the Enterprise Portal leverages your existing landscape byusing a corporate LDAP directory server as its central user data repository. It accesses any existingdata schema by allowing you to map the attributes used in the schema.

In this step, you will connect to your LDAP server as an alternate user data source.

Prerequisites

Log on to the Portal as Administrator.

Procedure

1. Navigate to System Administration ® System Configuration ® UME Configuration.

2. Choose the Modify Configuration button.

3. In Data Source, use the drop list to select the LDAP system of your landscape.

4. Choose the LDAP Server tab.

5. Enter the following values in the fields as follows:

The user management component of the Enterprise Portal leverages your existing landscape byusing existing SAP R/3 system User Management Engine. In this step, you will connect to your SAP R/3 Server as alternate user data source.

Prerequisites

The SAP R/3 system must be based on SAP Web Application Server 6.20 or higher.

7. After changing settings using the configuration tool, restart the Portal server.

3.6 Mapping Users in the Portal

Use

Map your portal users to the SAP Systems with UIDPW.

3.6.1 End-User Mapping

Prerequisites

You are logged on to the SAP NetWeaver Portal with the End User role (eu_role).

Procedure

1. To carry out the activity, choose the following navigation option:

SAP NetWeaver Portal Portal  Personalize  User Profile  User Mapping 

2. Choose the Alias for your backend system in the drop list, for example SAP_R3_BP .

3. Enter the users Mapped User and Mapped Password that you want to use to log on to this

system.

4. Choose Save.

5. Repeat the User Mapping for the other system.

3.6.2 Administrator Mapping

Prerequisites

You are logged on to the Portal as Administrator.

Procedure

1. Go to User Administration ® Identity Management.

4. Choose the checkbox corresponding to the user or group you want to map.

5. Choose the User Mapping tab under Details.

6. Choose the Modify button.

7. Choose the System corresponding to the SAP System you want to map, for exampleSAP_R3_BP .

8. Enter the users or group and password that you want to use to logon to this system.

9. Choose Save.
