NADA serving YOUR Community
NADA Austria Conference, September 2013
Nic Constable DCHA’c ADS
I honour the place in you where the universe Dwells
The place in you that is Love light peace and truth
This is or at least should be the truth behind every NADA treatment
NAMASTE
It is more than; just sticking up to 5 pins into peoples ears, About giving chaotic/busy people a good
reason to stop for 45 minute, possibly to power nap,
To be able to make us feel good about ourselves because we are helping people
It is about Compassion, Respect, Honesty, Community
What is NADA
Substance misuse drug/alcohol Mental Health hospital & Community Criminal Justice Courts / programmes More recently disaster relief response teamsWhat these have in common is that they are already a part of the system. They are being seen by some agency and are deemed to need some kind of extra intervention
Traditional NADA client base
There are a huge number of people that are not part the system (but live in your community)
They are the members of your Community that “cope” with life
They don’t cost the government or the tax payer anything
They are not anti social, they do not break the law or clog up the doctors waiting rooms
What about the people
outside the SYSTEM
There are a HUGE number of people that live in OUR COMMUNITY, YOUR COMMUNITYThat we do not see or we choose to ignore
that truly do struggle and need your
HELP
NEWS FLASH
What does NADA stand for
COMPASSION RESPECT PEACE
COMMUNITYThen how can we continue to ignore the growing number of
people in our community that need our help?
NADA
250 people a day are treated in a hospital in Cornwall for Alcohol related illness
We see a growing number of cancer patients, 1 thing they all appear to have in common is a hectic life style
Stress and anxiety levels in people affected by the economic situation increasing
Violent behaviour is on the increase
Prevention better than cure
Open 2 days a week 2 morning sessions a week Donation only Free treatments to those that can’t afford it No appointment needed No limit regarding number of treatments. Limited space so we see up to 14 people at a
time.
Our community clinic
At any one time we have between 40 and 50 people on our community clinic books.
We also use this space for trainee supervision, annual re-assessment and practice sessions

Summary
Ancient China Barefoot Doctors would travel around the country offering Natural Health Treatments to the villagers in exchange for small amounts of money, food and a safe place to sleep
Although they had no academic training they did have knowledge handed down that they used to help and support others and only asked patients for what they could afford.
