Early Grade Writing Assessment (EGWA)
• UNESCO works in this area, and is follow up of the
Expert Meeting on Formative Assessment of
Writing in Early Grades of Primary School
organized jointly by UNESCO and the University of
La Laguna (Spain) on 19-20 January 2012
EGWA
• This work on EGWA derives from the Learning
Counts initiative launched by UNESCO in
October 2008, following the Education for All-
Fast Track Initiative (current Global
Partnership for Education) Partnership
Meeting held in Cairo (November 2006) which
agreed to work further on quality of education,
focusing on learning outcomes.
