^Ogoh-Ogoh
Festival^
Ogoh-ogoh festival is a part of cleaning ceremony rituals (ngerupukan) in Bali.
Ogoh-ogoh is the big sculpture which made from the paper porridge and sticky substance that usually made by the group of
artist in Bali.
Ogoh-ogoh festival is usually showed in Tawur Kesanga day, in the evening. A day before Nyepi Celebration.
The main purpose of making ogoh-ogoh is a rule as symbol or to self purification of negative forces or Bhuta’s force.
According to Hindu teachings, ogoh-ogoh which made is shape of Bhuta-Kala (Bhuta=eternal energy, Kala=eternal time).
Ogoh-ogoh is also considered a symbol of modes of nature that form the malicious characters of living beings.
The people who follow this rituals wear a traditional costume.
An ogoh-ogoh is normally standing on a pad built of timber planks and bamboos. This pad is purposed to sustain the ogoh-ogoh during
it’s being carried by eight or more men on their shoulders around the village or town’s square.
The rotate is counter clockwise three times on every T-junction and roadcross of the village.
This procession is accompanied by traditional music performed by youth.
Finally, ogoh-ogoh is burnt to ashes in cemetary as a symbol of self purification
