Abu Idrees Abdiy Khawlani said that once I participated in a gathering in which 20 companions of the Prophet (s) were present. One of them was a young companion with a bright face, big dark eyes, and bright teeth. Whenever there would be a difference among the people he would say something
and people would take his word as final. IT was found later that it was Mu’adh b. Jabal (r).

The Prophe t(s) said, the most knowledgeable among my ummah regarding halal and haram is Muadh. It was narrated from Anas bin Malik that: The Messenger of Allah ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said: The most merciful of my Ummah towards my Ummah is Abu Bakr; the one who adheres most sternly to the religion of Allah is 'Umar; the most sincere of them in shyness (and modesty) is 'Uthman; the most knowledgeable of them concerning the lawful and the unlawful is Mu`adh bin Jabal.
Narrated Anas bin Malik, he said: When the Prophet died, none were the memoriser of the Qur'an but (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص)four persons; Abu Ad-Darda'. Mu`adh bin Jabal, Zaid bin Thabit and Abu Zaid. We were the inheritor (of Abu Zaid) as he had no offspring .

Mu'adh b. Jabal reported that the Messenger of Allah ,caught his hand and said: By Allah, I love you (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص)Mu'adh, By Allah, I love you, Mu'adh. He then said: I give some instruction to you. Never leave to recite this supplication after every (prescribed) prayer: " الـــلهم أعــــنى
O Allah, help me in عــــــــــــــــلى ذكـــــــــــــــــرك وشــــــــــــــــــــكرك وحــــــــــــــــــسن عـــــــــــــــــبادتــــــــــــــــكremembering You, in giving You thanks, and worshipping You well." Abu Musa reported, he said: The Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) sent me and Mu'adh b. Jabal to Yemen.عـن أيب مـوىس قـال أقـبلت إىل الـنبي صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم ومـعي رجالن مـن األشـعريني أحـدهام عـن ميـيني واآلخـر عـن يـساري ورسـول الـله صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم يسـتاك فـكالهام سـأل الـعمل قـلت والـذي بـعثك بـالـحق نـبيا مـا ا واكـه تـحت شـفته قـلصت فـقال إنـ أطـلعاين عىل مـا يف أنفسهام ومـا شـعرت أنهام يـطلبان الـعمل فـكأين أنـظر إىل سـال أو لـن نسـتعني عىل الـعمل مـن أراده ولـكن اذهـب أنـت فـبعثه عىل الـيمن ثـم أردفـه مـعاذ بـن جـبل ريض الـله

It was narrated from Abu Musa, he said: "I came to the Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) when he was using the Siwak and with me were two men of the Ash'aris - one on my right and the other on my left - who were seeking to be appointed as officials. I said: 'By the One Who sent you as a Prophet with the truth, they did not tell me why they wanted to come with me and I did not realize that they were seeking to be appointed as officials.' And I could see his Siwak beneath his lip,
and the lips were contracted and he said: 'We do not' - or; 'We will never appoint as an official anyone who seeks that. Rather you (Abu Musa) should go.'" So he sent him (Abu Musa) to Yemen, then he sent Mu'adh bin Jabal to go after him رضي اهلل عنهما.- Wedonotgiveapositiontotheonewhoasksforit,wishesforit.sohedidnotgiveittothosemen,insteadhegaveittoAbuMusaandthenalsoMuadh.

Narrated Ibn `Abbas رضـــــــــــــــــــــــــي اهلل عـــــــــــــــــــنهــمـــا , he said: Allah's Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said to Mu`adh when he sent him to Yemen, "You will go to the people of the Scripture. So, when you reach there, invite them to testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah, and that Muhammad is His Messenger. And if they obey you in that, tell them that Allah has enjoined on them five prayers in each day and night. And if they obey you in that tell them that Allah has made it obligatory on them to pay the Zakat which will be taken from the rich among them and given to the poor among them. And if they obey you in that, then avoid taking the best of their possessions, and be afraid of the curse
of an oppressed person because there is no screen between his invocation and Allah."

جائے گا جیسا کہ بطحاء(وادی)میں برتن کو الٹا دیا جاتا ہے۔
The way the Prophet (s) taught himرحـل قـال يـا مـعاذ بـن جـبل قـال لـبيك يـا رسـول الـله عـن أنـس بـن مـالـك أن الـنبي ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص ومـعاذ رديـفه عىل الـدا وسـعديـك قـال يـا مـعاذ قـال لـبيك يـا رسول الـله وسـعديـك ثـالثـا قـال مـا مـن أحـد يشهـد أن ال إلـه إال الـله وأن محـم
رسول الله صدقا من قلبه إال حرمه الله عىل النار [صحیح البخاری:128]
Narrated Anas bin Malik, he said: "Once Mu`adh was along with Allah's Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) as a companion rider. He (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said, "O Mu`adh bin Jabal." He replied, "Labbaik and Sa`daik. O Allah's Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص)!" Again the Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said, "O Mu`adh!" He said thrice, "Labbaik and Sa`daik, O Allah's Messenger said, "There is none (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) Allah's Messenger "!(ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص)who testifies sincerely that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and Muhammad is his Apostle, except that Allah, will save him from the Hell-fire." - ThreetimestheProphet(s)calledhim,togethisfullattention.

Narrated Mu`adh رضـی الـلہ عـنہ: I was a companion rider of the Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) on a donkey called 'Ufair. The Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) asked, "O Mu`adh! Do you know what Allah's right on His slaves is and what the right of His slaves on Him is?"
Jabir reported: 'Mu'adh b. Jabal al-Ansari led his companions in the `Isha prayer and prolonged it for them. A person amongst us said prayer (after having separated himself from the congregation). Mu'adh was informed of this, and he remarked that he was a hypocrite. When it (the remark) was conveyed to the man, he went to the Messenger of Allah (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) and informed him of what Mu'adh had said. Upon this the Messenger of Allah (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said to him: Mu'adh, do you want to become a person putting (people) to trial? - -Hescoldedhimherenotbecausehedislikedhim.Butbecausehewascorrectinghim.Whenwelove

اپنے گھر میں بیٹھ جائے کہ لوگ اس کی ایذاء سے محفوظ رہیں اور وہ لوگوں کی ایذاء سے محفوظ رہے ۔
The Prophet (s) informed him about his deathعـن مـعاذ بـن جـبل قـال لام بـعثه رسـول الـله ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص إىل الـيمن خـرج مـعه رسـول الـله ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص يـوصـيه ومـعاذ راكـب ول الـله ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص مييش تـحت راحـلته فلام فـرغ قـال يـا مـعاذ إنـك عىس أن ال تـلقاين بـعد عـامـي هـذا أو لـعلك أن ورسـ
متـر مبسجـدي هـذا أو قربي فبىك مـعاذ جـشعا لـفراق رسول الـله ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص ثـم الـتفت فـأقـبل بوجـهه نـحو الـمديـنة فـقال إن أوىل الناس يب المتقون من كانوا وحيث كانوا [مسند احمد:22052]
مـعاذبـن جـبل رضی الـلہ عـنہ سـے مروی ہـے کہ جـب رسـول الـلہملسو هيلع هللا ىلص نـے انہیں یمن روانـہ فرمـایا تـو خـود رسـول الـلہملسو هيلع هللا ىلصانہیں چھوڑنـے کے لـئے نکلے( راسـتہ بھر) انہیں وصیت فرمـاتـے رہـے مـعاذ رضی الـلہ عـنہ سـوار تھے اوررسـول الــلہملسو هيلع هللا ىلص ان کے ســاتھ پیدل چــل رہــے تھے جــب آپملسو هيلع هللا ىلص(انہیں وصیتیں کر کے) فــارغ ہــوئــے تــو رمـایا :اےمـعاذ! ہـوسکتا ہـے کہ آئـندہ سـال تـم مجھ سـے نـہ مـل سکو یا ہـوسکتا ہـے کہ آئـندہ سـال تـم میری فـراق کے غـم میں مـعاذ رضی الـلہ عـنہ رونـے لـگے پھر مسجـد اور میری قرب پـر سـے گـزرو،رسـول الـلہملسو هيلع هللا ىلص کے فـوگـوں میں سـب سـے زیادہ میرے قـریب آپملسو هيلع هللا ىلص نـے اپـنارخ پھیر کر مـدینہ کی جـانـب کر لیا اور فرمـایا: متـام لـ
متقی ہیں خواہ وہ کوئی بھی ہوں اور کہیں بھی ہوں ۔

It was narrated that: Abdullah bin Abu Awfa said “When Muadh bin Jabal came from Sham, he prostrated to the Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص who said: 'What is this, O Mu`adh?' He said: 'I went to Sham and saw them prostrating to their priests and chiefs and I liked to adopt this way of giving honor and respect to you in my heart.' The Prophet (s) sent Muadh to Yemen so he said, O Messenger of Allah advise me. He (s) said, Fear Allah as much as you are able, and remember Allah at every rock and tree.
Remembered his last meeting with the Prophet (s)عـن مـالـك بـن يـخامـر أن مـعاذ بـن جـبل ريض الـله عـنه قـال لـهم إن آخـر كالم فـارقـت عـليه رسـول الـله صىل الـله عـليه وسـلم أن قـلت أي األعامل أحـب إىل الـله قـال أن متـوت ولـسانـك رطـب مـن ذكـر الـله . [صـحيح الرتغيب والرتهيب:

Muadh b. Jabal said to Malik b. Yakhamir that the last thing he heard from the Messenger of Allah (s), What action is most beloved to Allah? He said, That you die while your tongue is moist with the dhikr of Allah.
He defended his companionsعـن كـعب بـن مـالـك ريض الـله عـنه قـال: مل أتخـلف عـن رسول الـله ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص يف غـزوة غزاهـا قـط ... الحـديـث وفـيه: مـا رداه ونـظره يف عـطفه فـقال مـعاذ بـن جـبل بـئس مـا ول الـله حـبسه ب فـعل كـعب فـقال رجـل مـن بـني سـلمة يـا رسـ
قلت والله يا رسول الله ما علمنا عليه إال خريا .... [صحیح البخارى:4418]
Ka'b bin Malik رضـــــــــــــــــی الـــــــــــــــــلہ عـــــــــــــــــنہ said: I never remained behind with Allah’s Messenger from any expedtition, then told his whole story: . . . He (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said, "What happened to Ka'b?" A person from the tribe of Banu Salamah said: "O Messenger of Allah ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص! The embellishment of his cloak and an appreciation of his sides have allured him, and he was thus detained." Mu'adh bin Jabal said: "Woe be upon you! You have passed indecent remarks. O Messenger of Allah! By Allah, we know nothing about him but good. . . “
فأعطى االبنة النصف واألخت النصف [صحیح البخاری:6734]
Narrated Aswad bin Yazid, he said: Mu`adh bin Jabal came to us in Yemen as a teacher and a leader, and we (the people of Yemen) asked him about (the distribution of the property of ) a man who had died leaving a daughter and a sister. Mu`adh gave the daughter one-half of the property and gave the sister the other half.

Mu'adh b. Jabal gave shares of inheritance to a sister and a daughter. He gave each of them half. He was at Yemen while the Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) was alive.
Narrated Amr ibn Maymun al-Awdi, he said: Mu'adh ibn Jabal, as the Messenger of Allah’s Messenger came to us in Yemen, (Amr) said: I heard his (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص)takbir (utterance of AllahuAkbar) in the Fajr prayer. He was a man with heavy voice. He began to love me. I did depart from him until I buried him dead in Syria (i.e. until his death). Then I searched for a person who
had deep understanding in religion amongst the people after him. So I came to Ibn Mas'ud and remained in his company until his death. He (Ibn Mas'ud) said to me: The Messenger of Allah (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) said to me: How will you act when you are ruled by rulers who say prayer beyond its proper time? I said: What do you command me, Messenger of Allah, if I witness such a time? He replied: Offer the prayer at its proper time and also say your prayer along with them as a supererogatory prayer.
فأسلم فإين سمعت رسول الله صىل الله عليه وسلم يقول إنه عارش عرشة يف الجنة [سنن الرتمذي:3804]
Narrated Yazid bin 'Umairah: "When death was upon Mu'adh bin Jabal, it was said to him: 'O Abu 'Abdur-Rahman, advise us.' He said: 'Sit me up.' So he said: 'Indeed, knowledge and faith are at their place, whoever desires them shall find them.' He said that three times. 'And seek knowledge from four men: 'Uwaimir Abu Ad-Darda, with Salman Al-Farisi, with 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud, and with 'Abdullah bin Salam who used to be a Jew and then accepted Islam. For indeed, I heard the Messenger of Allah (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) saying, "Indeed he is the tenth of ten in Paradise."
عن سعيد بن المسيب، قال: " قبض معاذ بن جبل وهو ابن ثـالث أو أربع وثـالثني سنة "
Narrated Sa`id bin Musaiyab, he said: Mu`adh bin jabal died at the age of 33 or 34 years.

Mu’adh Ibn Jabal رضــــــــــی اهلل عــــــــــنہ “A man does nothing to rescue himself from Allah’s punishment better than remembering Allah.”
REgarding love and animosityعن معاذ بن جبل، أنه قال: " إذا أحببت أخا فال متاره، وال تشاره، وال تسأل عنه، فعىس أن توايف له عدوا
فيخربك مبا ليس فيه، فيفرق بينك وبينه". [صحيح األدب املفرد:424]
Narrated Mu'adh ibn Jabal, he said, "When you have love for your brother and do not quarrel with him and do not dispute with him nor ask questions about him, It may be that an enemy of his will appear and say something about him which is not true and will thereby cause a split between you.”
Mu`adh bin Jabal narrated that the Messenger of Allah ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said: "The feet of any man shall not move on the Day of Judgement, until he is questioned about
the four things: about his life and where he spent it, about his youth and what he wore it out in, about his wealth and how he earned it and spent it upon, and about his knowledge how much he implemented upon it.”
