NANCE Volume 23 Issue 1 Holiday 2014
ere we go again - time flies - yes it certainly does.
It is remarkable how quickly the seasons change. One day we are
cutting grass on a hot summer’s day and the next we are layered in
clothing, shoveling snow.
For those of us who
have several decades
under our belts, we
wonder why we seem to
get physically slower as
time seems to increase it’s
pace. That although we
should have more time -
it seems we have less.
When we are young,
time is in abundance - the
weeks and months and years lay before us, with so many
opportunities to experience life in every dimension. We have yet to
feel the greatest joys and losses, to taste the sweetness of our
achievements and the bitter disappointments that are yet to be
revealed. Time is plentiful - and most of us in our younger days take it
for granted.
But as the years pass we recognize the value of time - how precious
it is, how fleeting the moments truly are. Even with this truth
possessed, the pace of life can pull our focus in the direction of our
youth. Faster than A Speeding Bullet, yes that’s what it feels like.
So we need to remind ourselves of the time at hand - that today is
rich in memories yet to be made. That the ones you love are here
now, but perhaps not present tomorrow. That instead of driving from
point A to point B, a detour to point C might be a better path to
enrich one’s life.
Walk slower, look closer, breathe deeper.
We have this time now to make our lives more meaningful and the
power to enrich our friends and family with the most precious gift we
can give them - our time.
May you have a very Merry Christmas and Holiday Season, filled
with warm smiles, gentle hugs and rich friendships.
Fun and funky we have a huge
selection of Spirit LaLa jewelry.
Handcrafted from stainless steel,
the pendants, earrings and
bracelets feature the original
artwork of this Georgia artist. You
have to see the wide variety of
subjects. Florals, nature and
unique designs all rendered in her
signature style.
air trade products help the world. We
proudly offer as many American artists
and artisans as we can in the gallery. But
we also support many Fair Trade organizations
from around the world. These groups offer a fair
wage and economic support for a wide range of
international artist cooperatives.
For example these
charming ceramic
Nativities are hand

or twenty ears we have been writing
about the need to support artists and
craftsmen that create beautiful things right
here in the USA. When you support an
American artist you support the community
as well. Money spent domestically in these small
workshops supports other small businesses in the
region. Wages, taxes and income all help to support
communities all across America. Here are a few of our
favorites.
Resource Revival
The Resource Revival was created
by Graham Bergh in 1994.
Located on an old
farmstead in rural
Oregon, the
company collects
tons of discarded
bicycle parts every
year from bike
shops all over the United States. The
pieces are cleaned and finished and
are fashioned into creative & useful
products for the home.
Glass Eye Studios
Seattle based glass artisans Glass Eye
Studio has been making beautiful
works of glass art since 1976. With
the eruption of Mt. St. Helens in
1980, every piece of glass contains
the ash from this
historical event.
Beautiful glass
ornaments and elegant
vases and bowls are a
perfect compliment to
any décor.

Our Online World
t seems like everything today is on the
internet or in the ‘cloud’ somewhere. Even
the word ‘internet’ seems pretty dated.
Just a few short years ago this newsletter
was written on a very slow word
processor and the illustrations were
added by purchasing CD’s or Floppy
Discs with Black & White clip art. These
were sent to you via the mail, as there
was no such thing as a ‘download’.
We have been on the web since the
first dial up service was available here
in Evansville way back in the 1990’s -
before the web browser was fully
developed. Until now we always mailed a
print version of this newsletter, so this is a
first in our 67 year history - our first all
digital version.
We’ll bring you timely information
about what’s going on in the gallery and
the local arts community, so please make
sure you add your email address to
receive the latest newsletters and special
event notices. We’ll have e-mail only
offers occasionally that will save you
money and make you a hero.
And we all want to be heroes, don’t we?
