Introduction
This Neighbourhood Action Plan (NAP) has been developed for Adswood, Larkhill Estate, Bradshaw Hall and Cheadle Hulme by Stockport Homes in partnership with customers, services and organisations working and living in Brinnington. This NAP covers the area which forms part of Stockport Council’s Priority 1 Regeneration Area (Adswood and Bridgehall) and adjoining areas. The Neighbourhood is located within Stockport Homes’ West Area Housing Team and is managed by a Neighbourhood Housing Officer (NHO), contact details are below.
NAPs are developed in order to identify the key issues in a neighbourhood and to develop actions to address these issues. NAPs can cover a range of social, economic and environmental issues, which includes housing, the environment, community safety, leisure and access to services and facilities. NAPs are influenced by a range of existing polices, strategies and action plans at national, regional and local levels. The information used to develop the NAP links to Stockport Council’s strategic plans and supports People, Places strategic objectives. The NAP has been developed by analysing data about the area, looking at current and developing policies and plans in the area, results of consultation with customers and talking to other partners and services about their plans for their areas.

The NAP covers four residential areas and a number of dispersed properties, comprising of bungalows, flats, houses and two studio flats. In addition to a number of garage units, play and landscaped areas within the neighbourhoods.
Neighbourhood Activity 2010-2011
A range of projects have been delivered over the last 12 months. This has included physical improvements to properties and within the neighbourhood, in addition to a programme of activities and events throughout the year. Regular updates have been made to customers through neighbourhood newsletters and this will continue this year. The following highlights the key areas of activity over the last 12 months:
• Estate Improvement works have been carried out to provide self closers to the rear communal doors and new signage, two untidy shrub areas have been cleared of shrubs and turfed at Gillbent Road, new signage at Adswood Road flats and paving at Dorset Avenue to provide recycling facilities has been completed.
Adswood Fun Day
• Kitchen and bathroom replacement programme completed at Bradshaw Hall Estate in Cheadle Hulme.
• A range of children and young people projects have taken place including an under 11s world football competition and mini Olympics during the summer at Adder Park, Adswood.
• A programme providing new front fencing and gates to properties on the Larkhill Estate in Cheadle Hulme has been completed.
• The Adswood and Bridgehall Community fun day took place during July involving all members of the community.
• Stockport Homes in partnership with Stockport Probation Service, carried out a large scale litter pick on the Adswood Estate.
Neighbourhood and Customer Profile
The NAP covers a range of properties, the following describes the four residential areas, in addition there are a number of dispersed properties covered by the NAP. The first area Adswood, mainly a residential area, lies to the north west of Gardners Lane, there are a range of local shops and services off the main road. The nearest park is Adder Park, a small local open space with facilities for ball games and a play area. There are two local primary schools within the neighbourhood, but no secondary school. In addition there is a youth club and community building with access to Sure Start and the local Neighbourhood Renewal Team.
The neighbourhood covers four distinctive areas, in addition to a number of dispersed properties, covering two wards, Cheadle Hulme South and Davenport and Cale Green.

Customer consultation
Larkhill Estate, a predominately residential area north of Adswood Road, is primarily family accommodation and a Sheltered Housing Scheme is located off Wimbourne Close. To the north of the estate is a large industrial estate, east of the main railway line with residential areas to the south and west. The nearest park is Adswood Park which contains a mix of formal and informal leisure facilities. There are local shops and facilities within walking distance, and Cheadle Hulme and Cheadle Town Centre within half a mile. Cheadle Hulme contains a number of miscellaneous properties, these are within predominately residential areas, the closest shopping centre is Cheadle Hulme district centre. Within the area are a number of informal and formal park and leisure facilities.
There are a number of local primary schools and a secondary school. Bradshaw Hall Estate is located south of Turves Road and is bounded to the west by open space and the A34 Kingsway and residential areas. The estate is predominately family accommodation but includes a number of low rise blocks and a Sheltered Housing Scheme, Brereton Court. The nearest parade of shops and facilities are within a quarter of a mile along Turves Road and Cheadle Town Centre, approximately a mile to the north east. There is one primary school within the area, but no secondary
school. There is no formal park within the area, however a large community open space is provided off Bradshaw Hall Road, providing football pitches and a new play area for children and young people.
In addition, part of the NAP includes a priority one area as defined by the Stockport Neighbourhood Renewal Strategy. Cheadle Hulme South Ward has a population of 13,470 people and the majority of residents are aged 30-59 years old. The majority of residents are owner occupiers and there is a below average number of residents renting from the local authority. The ward has a higher number of people who own one or more in comparison to the borough average. The population in Davenport and Cale Green Ward is 14,225 and the majority of residents are aged 30-59. Within the ward there are a higher number of residents renting from the local authority and the majority of residents have access to a car or van. The majority of residents are from a white background, however the ward experiences a higher than Borough average number of residents from white black and African backgrounds than the Borough average.
Within the neighbourhood the majority of Stockport Homes’ customers are aged 40-54 (32.90%), with a high percentage of
customers aged 25-39 years old. Stockport Homes’ customers are involved in many ways to ensure that all customers have the chance to get involved and influence the decisions and services received that affect their home and neighbourhood. In addition to a range of ways customers can get involved, the neighbourhood benefits from an active Tenants’ and Residents’ Association (TRA) on Larkhill Estate.
