I simply can’t believe how fast it has gone, especially as it has been my first wonderful year at the school. We held our senior graduaon ceremony this week and it highlighted to me the incredible students, families and networks that surround our students. It also showed the care and support of our wonderful staff. I have included part of my address to our year 12 graduates below. It is a privilege to be a teacher to know that each day you have the chance to posively affect a life and to enhance opportunies for students. To be a principal is another privilege as you try to provide the best environment, resources and culture for not only the students in your care but the teachers and leaders who care for the students and families. I thank my wonderful teachers, leaders and support staff for everything they do every day. We live in a world now where educaon is lost in a fog of data, tesng, assessment and naonal standards which aempt to reduce student achievement to a narrow set of abilies or rankings which systems assume will describe success. As Albert Einstein once said, “Not everything that counts can be measured, and not everything that can be measured counts” What I believe really counts is character. Character is not created with a single act, no maer how brilliant or bold. It is forged in the smallest of struggles, the product of a thousand, thousand strokes of pracce. We are all of us unique, we all have our giſts and foibles but it is the deeper and more important things such as our character and soul that make us what we are and who we are to our friends, family, peers and loved ones. It also reveals who we truly are as human beings. I give all my wishes and respect to our students, their families and friends. May your strength grow, may your opportunies expand and may your true character shine.

Dear Glenvale Community,

A very busy and challenging term 4 is coming to

an end. I simply can’t believe how fast it has

gone, especially as it has been my first

wonderful year at the school.

We held our senior graduation ceremony this

week and it highlighted to me the incredible

students, families and networks that surround

our students. It also showed the care and

support of our wonderful staff.

I have included part of my address to our year

12 graduates below.

It is a privilege to be a teacher to know that

each day you have the chance to positively

affect a life and to enhance opportunities for

students. To be a principal is another privilege

as you try to provide the best environment,

resources and culture for not only the students

in your care but the teachers and leaders who

care for the students and families. I thank my

wonderful teachers, leaders and support staff

for everything they do every day.

We live in a world now where education is lost

in a fog of data, testing, assessment and

national standards which attempt to reduce

student achievement to a narrow set of abilities

or rankings which systems assume will describe

success.

As Albert Einstein once said,

“Not everything that counts can be measured,

and not everything that can be measured

counts”

What I believe really counts is character.

Character is not created with a single act, no

matter how brilliant or bold. It is forged in the

smallest of struggles, the product of a

thousand, thousand strokes of practice.

We are all of us unique, we all have our gifts

and foibles but it is the deeper and more

important things such as our character and soul

that make us what we are and who we are to

our friends, family, peers and loved ones. It also

reveals who we truly are as human beings.

I give all my wishes and respect to our students,

their families and friends. May your strength

grow, may your opportunities expand and may

your true character shine.

Voluntary School Contributions

Every public school asks for a small contribution towards the many costs

associated with education programs.

At Glenvale we ask that parents contribute $35 per child each year. This has not

changed for many years and is a very small comparison with other schools even

though our costs can be much higher.

Please consider sending in the $35 as soon as you are able to do so.

Many thanks to those who have already done so.

All donations to the school over $2 are tax deductible as Glenvale is registered

with the Australian Tax Office as a deductible gift.

Remember to send in your old mobile phones. Every phone, whether working or

not, is worth money to the school. Your old phones have already raised much

needed funds for Glenvale.
