PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE CONTINUED

Election of Ministers

Below is an amended list of elected Ministers.

Voluntary School Contributions

Thank you to the families who have paid their voluntary school contributions. Our contributions for 2016

remain the same as last year - $30 per student or $60 per family (with two or more children attending

the school).

Funds raised from the Voluntary Contributions go towards resources directly linked to the teaching and

learning programs at the school and ultimately towards supporting the students at Nareena Hills Public

School.

Payments may be made online using the POP reference: Voluntary School Contributions.

Family Holidays

I would like to inform parents that last year the Department of Education implemented a change to the

School Attendance Policy. As part of the implementation of the National Standards for Student

Attendance Data Reporting, holidays taken by students outside of school vacation periods will now be

included as absences. A Certificate of Exemption can no longer be granted for this purpose. Families are

encouraged to holiday or travel during school vacations. If travel outside of school vacation periods is

necessary, parents will need to complete an Application for Extended Leave – Travel at the school office

for my approval. If the application is approved your child’s absence will be marked as Leave. If you have

any questions regarding this new procedure, please contact our school office.

No Go Tell

Students must develop strategies to assist them in situations that make them feel unsafe. At school

students are taught the ‘NO GO TELL’ strategy. Students must have an active voice and take a

stance against bullies!

Please reinforce this strategy with your children at home:

No - Stop interfering in our game John.

Go - Move to another area.

Tell - “John… I have asked you to stop; now I am going to tell the teacher”.

Students must use this strategy to ensure timely support and action.

Nareena Hills Public School has a zero tolerance policy to bullying behaviours.

The NSW Department of Education rejects all forms of bullying. All students and staff have the right to

be treated fairly and with dignity in an environment free from disruption, intimidation, harassment,

victimisation and discrimination.
