Class News - 3C The students have completed most of their assessment tasks over

the last couple of weeks. Most students have shown great

improvement. I am particularly pleased with the improvement in

reading, writing and spelling. We return to our regular learning

program now that these are complete. In Maths our topics this week

are position and patterns and algebra. Our maths times tables are

3‟s. In Science we will be doing some experiments where we will

be investigating a variety of results. In HSIE we will be looking at

different celebrations and how different families celebrate family

events. Merit winners last week were Drew Matthews, Bryce

Hickson, Heath Chappell and Gina Paterson. Our raffle winner was

Drew Matthews. Well done. Don‟t forget to bring in Life Education

notes and money. Our class will be going next Monday from 9:30 to

11:00 am. Also a reminder to keep packing a piece of fruit for fruit

break. Our class is pretty good at this.

Thank you.

Kerryn Cassidy – 3C ClassTeacher.

LIFE EDUCATION BBQ All students who have paid to attend the Life Education Van will be treated to a “FREE” BBQ lunch (sausage sizzle) on Monday, 29th October, 2012. This is also being paid for through the fundraising money from the Narrandera Ex-Serviceman’s Club. The BBQ will be cooked by some volunteers from the Narrandera Lions Club. If your child does not wish to have a “sausage sizzle”, they will need to bring their own lunch as normal.

State Library of NSW visit Last week we had a visit from the NSW State Library. Students from Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 were treated to a delightful Australian history lesson only this time we were able to really sink our teeth into it with the use of original documents.

Precious documents from the NSW State Library, including letters from Captain James Cook, convicts and Arthur Phillip. On the cushion is Captain James Cook’s

shoe buckle.

The life of Mary Reibey from convict to successful

business woman.

TRANSITION NEWS Transition children have been very busy since the holidays when they come to Narrandera Public School. This term they attend school on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. They have visited the computer room with the help of 5/6D and had fun using computers and ipads. They have used ipads in the classroom as well which was lots of fun. They have been having fun doing activities in the classroom practicing using scissors, writing their name and making things. They have sung songs with the piano for accompaniment and this week they will all have a go at using some keyboards. On Wednesday for the next few weeks they are learning about keeping their ears healthy with the help of Mrs Zumbo. On Thursdays they are excited to have Mrs Stamos and Mr Lucas as their teachers and are doing lots of fun outdoor activities with them. This Thursday the school is celebrating Grandparents Day and families are invited to come along to the school and join your child for lunch from 1.30pm until 2.30pm. Don‟t forget that next Tuesday they will be visiting the Life Education Van and will need to bring $3.50 this week to pay for this.
