Jubilee Year of MercyApril 24, 2016Fifth Sunday of EasterJubilee Day for Youth

This Sunday’s “Youth Jubilee” previews July’s World Youth Day in Krakow. Its theme from Matthew 5:7, “Blessed are the merciful,” echoes Pope Francis’ warning that “the practice of mercy is waning in the wider culture.” In countercultural witness, therefore, “the time has come,” says Francis, “for the Church to take up the joyful call to mercy once more. It is time to return to the basics and to bear the weaknesses and struggles of our brothers and sisters.” Jesus affirms the same in today’s Gospel. “As I have loved you, so you also should love one another” (John 13:34). Francis concludes, “The Church’s very credibility is seen in how she shows merciful and compas-sionate love.” Jesus too asserts, “This is how all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:35). Thus mercy “makes young” the Church, the world, and ev-eryone. “Mercy is the force that reawakens us to new life and instills in us the courage to look to the future with hope” (Misericordiae Vultus, 10).

ADULT RE & FAITH ENRICHMENT

Santa Cruz Church, Buda, Texas Quinto Domingo de Pascua

A message from Lupita Bodony: Thank you! For the opportunity you have given me to grow and serve the Adult Ministry, Religious Education and Youth Ministry in the Parish of Santa Cruz. I will be moving forward to another parish community at the end of May. I have served Santa Cruz for the past 8 years. I take with me the gifts, graces and challenges that I have participated in during my years of service. What I have learned here I will take with me to assist me in the Parish community where I will be in ministry beginning June. The faith that I have experienced here through the Pastor, his staff, the RE Staff, catechist, RE parents, students and adults has enriched my own relationship with the Lord Jesus. The presence of the Lord Jesus Christ is alive and well in the parish community of Santa Cruz. So as I take leave of this community, I do not say goodbye, but until we meet again!

April 23 & 24, 2016 / 23 & 24 de abril, 2016Fifth Sunday of Easter

April 23-24, Fifth Sunday of Easter

This week’s readings call us to live what we celebrate each week in the Eucharist: that we love one another in Christ. Our celebration is dead if it does not transform us into God’s people, a people of love and service. Paul’s ministry brought him out of the Jewish world, into the Gentile world. Who is it that needs to hear God’s word and experience God’s love from us this week?

We are forming a new ministry in the Parish…

The Mission: to provide a safe worship, learning, and activities environment for all parishioners and visitors at the parish cam-pus by maintaining a vigilance to harmful situations or activities and providing sup-port to Parish Staff as necessary.

Brief Description: The Ministry is com-prised of parishioners who have a back-ground in law enforcement, Fire Fighting, safety, security, and risk management. The Ministry provides initial response to parish safety situations as appropriate, provides input to the parish priest on safety issues, and assists with diocesan policies and procedures regarding risk management and other pertinent topics as assigned by the Pastor.

Ministry members also organize parking lot security for major liturgies and parish events (Ex: Christmas, Easter, Festival)

Meeting Schedule: as needed

Contact: Jim Blodgett, Ministry Director, [email protected], or call (512) 845-4788. if you or someone you know may be interested in joining this ministry.
